Cat Amazing Interactive Treat Maze and Puzzle CAT Toy

I have two cats, and while one ignores this item completely, my other cat adores this. She loves to dig around and explore in every nook and cranny of the apartment (laundry, a pile of blankets, the soil in my plant pots...), and this seems to appeal to that little goblin part of her brain with the added bonus of FOOD. The product is fairly easy to put together, it's lightweight and doesn't require any tools. Everything is held together by tucking some flaps of cardboard into slots, and so far it's held up to my cat well. She's quite petite (vet said her healthy weight is about 8lbs) so larger cats might crush this, but so far mine can stand on it and routinely does as she tries to dig her food out. The big benefit for my cat so far is that she has a bad habit of eating way too fast if I'm not careful around feeding her. Usually I give her what I nicknamed an "appetizer", where she gets a small portion of food, I wait 10 mins, and then give her the rest and it helps reduce regurgitation. However, since I've gotten this, she prefers to get her kibble out of the puzzle instead of the bowl, and I haven't found any signs of her throwing up recently. I think the only wish I had was that it weighed a little bit more because when my cat really gets into hunting for kibble, she will push the box all over the floor. But it's a minor issue and doesn't seem to affect her interest at all. When teaching her how to use it, I did have to bully her a bit (the tip to get them to use the toy is perch a treat right on the edge so their nose bumps it in as they eat, but it turns out my cat has fantastic spatial awareness and picked up the treat three times without knocking it into the box; I had to let her get close enough to sniff the treat and knock it in myself, but she figured out the game quickly after that). Overall, I'm very happy with this buy, especially for the value! Will definitely keep an eye out for additional products from this maker.

TL;DR: Our Kitten loves it 2 weeks ago, our kitten, Poppy, had found some old kibble bits wedged under the front corner/foot of our refrigerator and nothing we could do would distract her from digging at that corner until she found every speck of old food. This made me think she might really enjoy one of these puzzle boxes. I did a search and this item was highly recommended. Its made out of cardboard, but its easy to put it together and its been very sturdy so far. My only complaint really about the puzzle it is so light and Poppy winds up pushing it everywhere as she's working on getting her toys and treats out. When I introduced her to the toy and I put a few of her favorite treats in it, she was immediately completely invested in the puzzle box and finding and figuring out exactly how to get her treats out it it. She seems to be able to play with it for quite a while. And if I just randomly grab a treat and toss it in, she immediately makes a beeline to play with it with full enthusiasm. My big surprise came a day or so later when I walked into the room and saw her taking one of her favorite fuzzy balls and putting it in the box to then turn around to hunt and fish it out. She was finding ways to play with it on her own! Now, instead of using it for treats, more often than not, I just toss one of her toys in it and she goes right after it. There is just something about this box that she just completely locks in with. Considering how many hours she has spent on the toy so far, it has been a great purchase. A lot about Poppy, she is approximately 4 to 5 months, she weighs 5.5 lbs in the attached video, so you can have some sense of scale.

This is my second time purchasing this for my cats. They absolutely love it and it keeps all three of them entertained. Unfortunately this box will not completely close like the first one did, but it still works! If this box would have been able to close completely I would have given it 5 stars :)

Sometimes the most brilliant toys are the simple ones--especially when it comes to cats all too used to being pampered with treats. Our cat L. would still very much like to be given a treat simply for mewling mournfully-- but when we put the treats in the Cat Amazing, it certainly does compell her for hours and hours. This is like Mensa for cats! But as with all things intelligence it is divergent from a straight line. In the "simplest" rated green zone of this maze, all she would have to do is simply tap the treat out of a level opening, but she has seemingly not yet figured out this simple principle. Instead, she does much better with treats in the "hard" zone of the maze, where she tries to either grab directly at the treats with her paws or bat them up and out of the narrow holes as if they were golf balls. Ultimately, she does get most of the treats out after just a day of practice, so we are worried about fattening her up. Will we have to get her something more difficult, the next level up? Never mind the cat, this toy has already given us humans a couple hours of pure entertainment watching her tackle this thing. Only a couple of days so far, but this seems like a worthwhile purchase, will keep you updated.

I like the concept for the toy and my new kitten enjoys playing with it. Pros: My cat likes the toy and enjoys reaching inside moving jingle balls/mylar krinkle toys (not included) around the cardboard maze. There are enough holes that she can see the toys and easily manipulate them. Cons: I took one star off for ridiculous price and choice of materials. Taking into account it is just a box and extremely thin cardboard at that, I think the price point is astronomical. At this price I would have expected stronger material, at least along the lines of an amazon shipping box. If you cat sits on top of this toy to play with it, it wont hold up to their weight long. At the very least include some of the balls with bells inside or mylar krinkle toys, the overhead on them is so low, it would be easy to include a few at this price point without losing much profit. I took another star off due to the fact that holes in the box are too large. My cat gets the toys toys out and then plays with them ignoring the box. The holes should have been much smaller so they toys would stay int he box. Overall I probably wouldnt order again.The size of the holes makes it no challenge to get the toys out of the box, even with the insert set to most difficult. The cat then ignores the box and plays with the toys around the room. I also felt the quality of materials and price point were mismatched. In the future I will just grab an amazon box and an exacto blade and make my own version :)

My large 13 yr old cat has never been playful despite offering various types of toys (and spending hundreds of dollars over the years) to encourage some type of exercise, including those with human interaction. But he loves to eat so the only things that have even gotten a second look are those which have food as an incentive. The Catamazing was bought with this in mind and also because of the great reviews, reasonable price, and the knowledge that it is more eco-friendly than most products so I could just throw this in the recyclying bin if it (like most products) didn't work for him. My boyfriend couldn't believe when it arrived that I spent money for a "piece of cardboard". One day later he was saying "this is the best thing you could've bought". Unlike other reviewers it didn't keep my cat entertained for hours, but I had much lower expectations anyway knowing my cat. Kitty was (and continues to be) engaged with it for 5-15 mins once or twice a day--which is more than any other product/intervention we've ever tried. I think part of the reason he's been engaged is for the precise fact that its cardboard and not something more intimidating or heavier, as like most cats mine immediately investigates/burrows/sits on top of any packaging no matter where it may be in the house, so this is a familiar medium. And he can knock it around without fear of pinched paws, etc if it falls back on him in the process. For those concerned about durability; thankfully my cat doesn't regularly chew so this hasn't been an issue. My cat is large (+20 lbs), declawed front paws (as how he was when I got him), and not the 'sharpest tool in the shed' so he's stepped on top of it to get the treats and also used it as a 'bed' occassionally but its not shown any bowing or degradation after 1 month. He hasn't figured out how to actually work the maze but seems to have fun anyway (i.e. purring and salivating) and ultimate success nonetheless batting treats out of the other various openings despite his huge paws and not having claws, so I consider it a huge success and well worth the money!

I wasn't sure about this toy, but decided to give it a try. It's fairly easy to assemble (if you're used to putting together boxes, you don't even need to look at the instructions). I sprinkled some catnip in, then put some of the kids' toyrs in, and finally some treats. My cats are 1-1/2 yr old brothers. They were interested as I was putting the box together, so were anxious for it to be set down for them and immediately started checking it out and interacting with it. It's a hit! Yay! They played with it non-stop for at least 30-minutes. They had so much fun digging out the toys and treats that they ripped part of the box and tore up the tented insert. I put it back together as best as I could and set it aside for later. The next day I put it back (with toys, but no treats) and withine 15 minutes they tore it up even more (see picture). So, in less than 1 hour of play they managed to tear it up so much it won't work the same. So, while the concept is great - they really enjoyed it, the material just isn't up to par. Defintely not worth paying for something that isn't built well enough to last more than an hour. Perhaps a thicker, stronger cardboard might last longer . . . ?

Any new cat toy is always a risk. I have a treat ball for my 2 boys and they could not care less about that thing. They love treats and yet if I put them in the ball, meh. So I was hesitant to purchase this. Thankfully, my boys love it! I sprinkle some treats in each section of the maze and let them do their thing. They will return to this thing over and over until they get all the treats. At first, I put most of the treats in the easier sections. Now that they are using it more, I try to put most of the treats in the more difficult areas. They really love it. I can't ask for more than that. They love it so much that I'm going to order a spare to have on hand just in case. The cardboard is sturdy and putting it together was simple. My cats have made no attempt to tear it apart or tip it over. My Maine Coon will sometimes sit on it and it holds up very well. I did step on it once and while it got a little crushed at the corner, it functions just fine and the cats don't care. I can imagine that if I had stepped on it just right, I would probably want to replace it. One of my cats always starts at the easy end of the maze while the other one is determined to get the treats from the more challenging areas. So it is good for both of their personalities. One always takes the path of least resistance and the other prefers a challenge. I love watching them both exercising their brains trying to figure this out. It is really fun watching them move from opening to opening trying to figure out how to get those treats out of the maze and into their mouths. I thought this would be either too easy for the cats and they would have the treats out right away, or too difficult and they would get frustrated and not go near it, but it is just right. If it gets too easy, I can switch it over to the most challenging level and let them work on that. I will say that I used to have a cat that didn't care for treats at all. I never found a treat that she cared about. If your cat is like that, this toy would probably not be for you. However, the two cats I have now have different personalities and both the lazy one and the active one love it.

The moment I put it down and placed her favourite treats in the hole suggested she took straight to it and worked out really quickly how to get them out her own way.

This is a cut out cardboard box with partitions. The treats get caught under the partitions and the cat cannot access them. Both my cats lost interest very quickly. My cats do not play with it. And on that basis I would not recommend it.

3 month review - cat loves this puzzle box, hasn't gotten bored with it at all. We have a cat that does become easily bored with toys, he has lots of the little plastic puzzle toys and he doesn't enjoy them nearly as much as this cardboard box - too easy and quick to remove treats from others. We toss a few treats in daily and hear him playing with it multiple times a day and at night after we go to bed. He loves it, when it is empty he sits on it and stares at us until we refill. He's progressively gotten better at getting the treats, but it's still challenging enough that it takes him a while to get the treats and entertains him in the process. It is surprisingly sturdy, even with our cat sitting on top of it to fish out his treats. The only draw back is the cardboard does absorb a bit of the oils from the dry treats, but for the price if you had to replace every 6 months it is well worth it. This is one of the most successful cat purchases we have made to date. We just purchased the next step up in difficulty box from this company, can't wait to watch him figure that out next.

Initially I just thought it was an expensive cardboard box that my cat paid no attention to but after a while she really got into digging the treats out and she looks so cute when she does. She loves this box! Five paws review!
