realistic and a great success
After a month, my cats still go crazy over this toy. It is one of the few cat toys that is actually worth paying for. Usually I buy a bunch of toys that either don't interest the cats at all or aren't any better than a string, a paper bag, or a cardboard box, right? It's great exercise for my young male cat since he repeatedly leaps in the air to catch the "bird". For indoor cats who never get enough stimulation normally, you can't go wrong with this toy. The other great toy is their mouse-like toy. The mouse is small with a similarly realistic skittering movement across the floor - it's great for my "bush" cats (ones that prefer to stay lower).Pros:- cats don't get tired of it like they usually do with toys- *** makes it super easy to have "interactive play" with your cat without bending, waiting for the cat to stalk the toy, etc.- cats love it so much they will pick it up in their mouths and carry it off to play with in private so i have to let go of the pole :-)- extra stimulating for my "tree" cat who loves to get up high and climb- long pole allows you to "cast" the "bird" far enough, which allows the cats to run and leap- very well designed- quality materials will last and feel strong- attractive feathers- designed to sound like something flying through the air- feathers are real so they smell normal and not like plastic- fluttery, unpredictable movement seems realCons:- Cats play with it so much they will probably break the feathers soon. This means you really must hide it away where they can't get at it or they will drag it out and tear it up.- possible consideration that it's practice for catching low-flying birds... but for indoor cats it's great- none I can think of: materials, design, usability, attractiveness, utility, success rate are all top notchThe tensile string is made of string that's stiffer than usual (it's not metal wire), which encourages a twisting movement; feathers are real and are on a metal fastener that can rotate 360 degrees. The feathers are attached well so even with some mauling they have not yet come out of their fastener.I left on vacation for more than a week and my friends had a much easier time playing with the cats - for real - than usual. So often people don't know how to play with cats so they just pet them and feed them but it's otherwise boring when I'm gone. This toy makes it more fun to play with the cats because the cats really respond to it and look very cute playing.

Exercise for both the cats and the human!
Yep, my 2 cats go nuts for this feather cat toy since imitates prey very well. I basically run back and forth across my home, and my cats will SPRINT after it until they're out of breath. If I fly the cat toy over furniture and obstacles, my cats will do PARKOUR just to grab the toy in mid air. It's exercise for both the cats and the human. They tear that thing apart, so refills are mandatory. Re-filling is easy because there's a custom safety pin that latches onto each "feather bait". The safety pin is designed such that a cat's tooth cannot disengage it due to the short length, roundness, and tight force. You need to push on it with your fingernail, slowly, at a certain angle in order to disengage it.The value is a double edge sword. It's definitely a 5-star good toy because my cats get lots of love, fun, and attention. However, it's also a high wear item since it's so AGGRESSIVELY loved.

Our cats BEG for this toy!
Our cats are about 3 years old and they're strictly indoor cats, so excercise and entertainment is really important. Unfortunately they're very picky about their toys and get bored easily with most them. But THIS toy - Da' Bird - is AMAZING. The cats absolutely love it and they'll chase it around for 10 - 15 minutes, then they start to get a little tired and lay down. This is a good thing! It means they're getting needed excercise, and on busy days when we don't have much time to spend with the cats we can just break out "Da' Bird" for 15 minutes or so and the kities are happy.PROS:- Cats LOVE it and never get bored with it. I would be amazed if anyone ever found a cat that didn't love this toy.- Gives indoor cats great excercise and fun!- Replaceable attachment feather kits are easy to buy here and stock up for when they start to get too chewed up- GREAT way to spend quality time with your cat "quickly", and it's time that will bring you closer to your furry friend(s)CONS:- One of our cats loves it SO much they he YOWLS at us EVERY NIGHT until we give him his 15 minutes of Da' Bird chasing time! (not really a "con", but I have to admit his persitent mewing can be annoying when the timing for play is not good).- While the replaceable / refill feather attachments are a convenience, I can see that this could get very expesive if you let your cat get too agressive with it. Some other reviewers havee mentioned their cats go through the attachments quickly. Our cats aren't quite as agressive I guess, because we only have to replace about once every 2 months. But in the end, no matter what toys you get for you cats you're going to spend ongoing money. So this isn't truly a "con" but I'm just trying to be objective for sake of this review.- The string seems like it could be a bit stronger. It's starting to fray at the attachment end.- I don't like the metal "fishing lurec clip" style of clips for the attachment - it makes me nervous that the cats might damage their teeth, so we're pretty careful by watching how they get ahold of it, and never yank on the string hard when a kitty has the lure in his mouth. But aside from this "picky" review, SUMMARY:AWESOME CAT TOY! OUR CATS LOVE IT AND NEVER LOSE INTEREST! MAKES US FEEL GOOD SPENDING TIME WITH THEM AND GETTING THEM HEALTHY EXCERCISE! HIGLY RECOMMEND!

My cats love it, but I hate it--until I talked to Go Cat Feather Toys directly.
So, I contacted Go Cat Feather Toys directly through Facebook and they explained that I probably received poles that were not so good, so they sent me 2 new poles, plus 2 bonus cat toys. I was very impressed. The little plastic caps on the ends of the poles seem a little thicker and shorter and the knots have not given way yet. I've had the poles for about two weeks now, I've used one, and it's holding up pretty well. I'll come back and edit my review if either of the new poles break again.Old Review:This toy cannot be used as purchased. I own two Da Bird poles. My cats love this toy, but it lasts only a couple of play sessions. The quality is not very good. It is expensive and not worth the cost. The problem is... my cats are addicted to this toy and it looks like I will have to keep buying it to keep them happy, even though it keeps breaking.Like the reviewer who gave the toy only 3 stars, the knot that holds the feather clamp keeps untying and I just can't make a new knot that will stay tied! I'm pretty sure that the maker could make improvements to this knot or think of some other solution. Since it keeps flying off (which is kind of dangerous by the way) from the inadequate knot, I have lost one set of feathers. Instead, I have tied one of those little sheer chiffon gift bags to the string, which though does not create the same effect as the feathers, it will not damage anything as I swing the pole around. After swinging the pole around a few times, the string gets all tangled up. I have wrapped the tip with black electrical tape to help keep it from tangling, but that has only helped the problem a little bit.The plastic tip of one of my poles has come off, and so I have replaced it with more electrical tape. The cats attack the feathers and the string as I am playing with them, so the string has broken in multiple places on one of my Da Bird poles. The other one looks like it's about to go too.But like I said, my cats absolutely adore this toy. I've tried other toys, but they keep coming back to this one, even though it's broken, needs constant repair, and I keep losing pieces of it. But I hate it. But I will have to keep purchasing it. But it's very expensive. And the costs of cat toys are mounting up.

THE BEST Teaser Toy - My Cat is Obsessed
This is the best teaser toy I have ever purchased in 30 years. I bought one elsewhere and then purchased a second teaser wand here on Amazon, because my cat likes it so much. The way the feather attachment is made, it spins and flutters in a very realistic way. My cat is crazy about it. She is literally obsessed with this thing. She will run to it meowing, wanting to play, and also drags it around the house. The feather toy holds up fairly well, but of course, the feathers will break off some over time with the rough play from a cat. Nonetheless, my cat still likes it. I bought replacement feather attachments for when the first one wears out. The "Sparkler" attachment (shiny ribbons) is also a huge hit. It's worth the money.

Excellent Interactive Cat Toy
This is one of the best interactive cat toys out there! I have four cats and they all love this toy. I've also given this this toy as a gift several times and it was a hit. Here is why this toy is so great (and also a warning at the end):-- The sound and the way the feather "lure" moves is great. The toy really zips around, mimicking real "prey". The feathers make a distinctive fluttering sound, which gets cats' attention. One of my cats is blind in one eye and he responds to the sound and enjoys this toy over others we have.-- The lure is detachable and can be replaced when it is inevitably torn up. They make several kinds of lures or if you like you could even make your own. The pole, string and lure are quite durable. Ours has certainly seen some hard use! We have the pole that snaps apart into two pieces for easier storage, though I just store it assembled; it fits in the closet just fine. That feature seems unnecessary to me.-- Cats get into this toy. So much so, they will wear themselves out (even to the point of panting). This can be put to good use if you have a cat that keeps you up at night or has a lot of excess energy. Wear the cat out with this toy before bed, give them a bedtime snack, and nighttime annoyance will decrease.-- Excellent for interacting and strengthening your relationship with your cat. I'm serious, this is a great way to spend quality time with your cat. When cats play, they release endorphins which boost their mood. The endorphin release can also help relieve tension and stress. This can be a great tool to smooth things over in a multi-cat household if your cats aren't the best of friends. Regular play with an interactive toy can also build trust with a shy cat.-- Do not let cats play with this toy unattended. Any *string* toy is NOT safe unsupervised. If your cat detaches and ingests the string, it can cause serious damage to the intestines (not to mention a very expensive vet bill).

Cats love it! Must be supervised with this toy
Okay, so I have mixed feelings about this toy, which is why I have not rated it 5 stars.First off, please SUPERVISE cats with this toy at all times. When you are out of the house, do NOT leave this toy lying around, it could be dangerous. When we received it, we played with our 3 male cats, and they LOVED it!!! The feathers sound/look real, and the it actually mimics real bird motions as you sway the toy through the air. My boys loved it so much that they were panting from exhaustion, and still wanted to keep playing- the toy almost did not wear them out.One day, I was at home **thankfully**, and all of the sudden I heard my cat frantically running back and forth through the living room. I have a high shelf, where I kept the toy. My cat, Ashton wanted the toy soo bad, that he jumped up and knocked it off the shelf. It was then, that he started bee lining back and forth -- scared to death-- and tangled in the toy, the string is really long. Thankfully, I was home, I was able to corner him and untangle him, luckily he was alright. I was so nervous that I almost cut the string to let him loose, my cat also has long hair so at first I couldn't notice if the string was wrapped around his neck. In conclusion, the toy is now inaccessible/no where in sight for my cats (its locked tight in a drawer) UNLESS I take it out to play with them.Mixed Feelings: Most of our cat toys are the wand and string toys, my boyfriend and I get annoyed with most of the strings, because they are soo short that it's hard to interact with the cats, however, it is probably designed like that for safety issues. That said, we were excited to finally find a toy with longer string (where the cats could try to jump and catch the bird). This is a great toy for cats, it's hard to keep them away from it!! However, if you get this toy, PLEASE supervise and please keep this toy hidden when you are not home. You really have to watch them, or your cat could easily get tangled.
