Definitely order 1/2 size up!
If you follow the sizing instructions, you should have good luck with these shoes, provided you know what you are getting into...FIT: These shoes are meant to mold to your feet and will basically feel like you are walking barefoot (support wise) as they have a thin, but durable sole. They are definitely tight when you first put them on, even sizing up, and especially around the big toe and vamp area. I wore mine around the house for a few hours and they became more comfortable relatively quickly. When I wore them out the following day, they felt nicely broken in and did not hurt my feet one bit. I typically wear a size 9 in most brands, but occasionally have to wear an 8.5 in some flats... I definitely needed the 9.5 in these shoes. My daughter has a wider foot and did not have success with this shoe.COLOR: These Pewter Nappa shoes look brighter in the pictures on the website, but these are a true pewter color in person (think metallic medium grey). The 1/2 star deduction comes from color durability. I accidentally bumped the sole of one foot on the other and now I have black marks on the side of one shoe (see my attached picture). Nothing can fix it either... magic eraser, nail polish remover, etc...QUALITY: I like that these French Sole Sloop style shoes are made in Italy and overall they seem to be well made, with a durable rubber (weatherproof) sole.

I love these except...
Pros:- No toe cleavage!!!! THANK YOU, WHY IS THIS SO HARD SHOE MANUFACTURERS??- Completely flat like I wanted- Comfortable *once you break them in*- The red is a perfect red, not too bright or too orange or too pink. Good solid red.Cons:- Took me almost a month and half to fully break them in. I tried all the tips (like wearing thick socks and blowdry) but it still took quite a while. And before they broke in they HURT.- They don't look very nice anymore. I've had these a while (over a year) and while I don't wear them every day (not even every week) they honestly don't look as nice anymore. In fact they look kind of sad, like thrift store cast off, which makes me sad because I love them and like to wear them at work but I don't think they look professional anymore. Even more sad is how much they cost -- the most I have ever spent on ballet flats is around $30 so these were a huge splurge for me and I felt these would be an investment piece to last a while. Sadly they should probably be retired now based on how worn and scuffy they look. There are no holes or tears or anything like that, which is good, but they definitely look sad.- The inner lining is just shredded. Not long after buying, I ended up peeling out the inner lining because it kept coming out and getting bunched up under my foot, then I trimmed a pair of insoles to replace.I really love the shape & look of these. I want to buy all the colors because the look (flat! no cleavage!) is exactly what I want in my flats...but I can't let myself spend $100+ on shoes when they will end up looking sad and worn down after a year of occasional wear.

Wanted to love - too tight across the top of the foot.
I wanted to love these and finally placed an order after watching them for months. They arrived quickly, and were true to expectations in terms of quality and construction. The suede is not especially luxe, but it is a typical black suede. These have a nice leather insole and comfortable cushioning in the footbed. I did not care for the light gray lining that showed around the edge of the shoe, but was willing to overlook it. I am a very true-to-size 8.5 medium, and ordered a 9 m based on the reviews. Length-wise, the fit was good. Across the top of my foot (the vamp?) this shoe was horribly tight. I wore them sitting down in the car for a couple hours and again at my desk for a half day, and just couldn't bear the constricting across that part of my foot. Left some serious marks. I can't imagine they would ever really stretch to a comfortable point in that area, so I returned them. These shoes have a certain "Cinderella's day slipper" quality - that basic black flat - not too ballet-ish, not at all pointy, no discernible heel. They show no toe cleavage at all, and I think the dimensions of the toe - where it hits on the top of the foot - kinda lean toward frumpy. Disappointing for sure - if you have a narrow foot, these may work for you. They are not a "stylish" ballet flat - just a good basic.

Very small, but otherwise good.
I really like these shoes, except that they're too small. I have pretty normal feet that are exactly halfway between regular and wide. I'm a normal weight for my height. I ordered these in my regular size (7.5) and I wish I had ordered at least a half size larger. I realized a little too late that they were far too tight, as opposed to just snug. I figured that they would stretch, since that's what all the reviews say, but the top cuts into the top of my foot pretty badly, and I'm not sure they'll ever stretch enough there for me to be able to wear them to work all day.I suspect that these are fine in the regular size for slim-footed folks. If you have wider (or taller) feet, I would order a slightly larger size than usual.Otherwise, the style is pretty good. I generally prefer a lower-cut shoe, and I was afraid that these would be clunky looking because of the high cut. They turn out to be very clean and simple looking. Next time I'll get bigger ones.
