I’m having trouble sealing them.
I have a Foodsaver vacuum sealer. It’s worked once out of four bags. I can’t get my latest to seal. Anyone else having this problem?UPDATE: I checked with FoodSaver and the model I have doesn’t allow you to change the parameters for how long or how hot you want to seal (others do). So it’s a problem with the FoodSaver model, not the bag. I will say two things: It’s a nice bag, and also the company saw my review and contacted me with an offer of a full refund. A nice thing, which I didn’t ask for. I refused it, but I’m changing the review to five stars with the comment to check that the vacuum sealer you are using can handle the thicker paper.

Pricier Than Paper Coffee Bags, Thick Material, Not Self-Sealing, Not Eco-Friendly
NOTE: I got the "half-size" version, 8oz/.5lb, white material "BOPP+PET aluminum foil+food-grade PE" (whatever that is). It's very strong material, nothing like the paper coffee bags I usually get, with a much different design to open than I'm used to.I was teetering on whether to give these 3 stars or 4, and ultimately decided on 4 to be as fair as possible. Just because these aren't what I'm used to, doesn't mean they don't work as well. My experience with them may help you if you're like me and use them for home & gift use as opposed to professional use.I opted for the smaller size bags because I'm planning to grind special flavored coffees to give as gifts this year, and I thought the white would be great to write on with a sharpie. What baffled me when I got them was the opening. The page says they can be heat-sealed, but my heat-sealer is old and doesn't work well. There is a zip-to-open feature for the recipient to open it and access the resealable closure. But what are the best ways to close it at the top after you fill the bag, before giving it (or selling it) to the recipient, if you don't have a working heat sealer?I found that if you fold over the very top, it can be stapled or glued or taped closed. I have some "homemade" stickers that I can add to it after it's folded. I decided that the best way to keep it air-tight and dry is to seal it all the way across the top.If you don't seal it well, someone might open it from the top, and when that happens, the reclosable feature does not work to close it. The zip-lock closure is not a front-to-back closure; it only works with the smaller opening that functions when you pull the zip tab.I recommend playing with one of the bags a lot before you put these to practical use, just to get to know how it works, what works and what doesn't, etc. Figure it all out ahead of time so the bags aren't wasted. These aren't exactly environmentally friendly like the paper bags are, so if they can be reused as much as possible, it would be better in the long run.I'll come back to update if anything else comes up as I put these to use. For now, it's 4 stars from me!

We use these for sales of roasted hazelnuts. They work perfectly. Love the sealing top.

Heat/Vacuum Sealer Required... Great for storing green beans too
The description states that a heat sealer is required, so as long as you know that these are perfect. These are, of course, great for storing roasted coffee beans. I use these 16oz bags when I'm gifting roasted beans to family and friends. But mostly I use these for storing unroasted green coffee beans. I buy bags of 5 or 10 pounds and only roast about a pound at a time. Although unroasted green beans have a far longer shelf life than roasted coffee, it's still not indefinite. After a year or so, you can definitely tell a difference in the vibrancy of the tasting notes. With these bags, I'll split a 10 pound bag up and only a pound at a time will be exposed to oxygen. Since green beans don't offgass, the one way valve is a little unnecessary, but they're great to have for larger gift bags of roasted coffee anyways. Awesome dual usage.

Needs Heat Sealer, Great Quality Thick Bags
Thick and good quality food packaging bags. They use the peel valve opening which feels higher end for people to use. To properly prepare these, you do need a heat sealer which is noted in the listing description.

Just ok
Pros- Built-in valve for freshness.- Resealable design for convenience.- Large capacity of 16 oz per bag.- Durable material.Cons- Side zipper can be difficult to use.- Not transparent, so contents are not visible.- Requires extra storage space due to bulkiness of 50 bags.- Cannot be used without the use of a vacuum sealer
