Thealyn Animal Cage Trap 80 X 33 X 27 cm,Umane Live Animal Trap

I bought this to try to catch one of my cats who had gone missing - we live in a very rural area but knew the rough location he was in. It was easy to assemble: the enclosed instructions are pretty inadequate but the videos were clear and easy to follow. The trigger mechanism seemed very, very sensitive - we slightly roughened the contact surfaced to reduce the risk of it going off spontaneously. Like other reviewers have written, I’d suggest just leaving one door open and placing the bait food by the closed door. Make sure it’s on a flat surface, and we draped an old sleeping bag over it for weather protection and to stop anything brushing against the rod holding the door up. It took 3 nights for my cat to enter the cage, so don’t give up if it doesn’t do the job first go - but really, I can’t fault it: great value, fairly easy to set up, sturdy enough to hold the trapped cat and folds flat for convenient storage.

Extremely finicky to assemble, and just generally poor quality with lots of rough/sharp edges. The door would not stay open and would randomly close with nothing stepping on the pressure plate. In addition, the poor tolerances meant one door did not open smoothly to reset. Bought as a hail Mary to help get a lost cat back, but some research also seems to suggest leaving food out is not a great strategy anyway. Far too expensive especially given the quality, so returned.

Worked well for capturing my escaped cat. Took less than 30 minutes once deployed. One of the metal hooks on the top, that is used to secure the ends was missing however so some quality issues. Otherwise decent enough. The video in the product image slideshow shows how it is assembled which is helpful as the leaflet instruction aren't the best.

You're better of watching the video of how to put it together.. Worked well and managed to catch the my house cat that had escaped and would not come back in within a couple of hours when reading the reviews I was scared my cat would have his tail cut off. You need to make sure the lip side of the gate is to the bottom.

Bought to capture a stray cat. The trigger system is super sensitive which is great, but did mean it was set off without an animal entering on one occasion. Easy to flat pack and store after use and has entry points at either end. We caught on first attempt with no escapee, so would say it works as expected!!

The trap doesn’t close, and when it does, the whole door falls apart so the animal can escape anyway. Tried for a week solid and the trap either fails or the door falls down, the trap doors are so tight the hardly shut, certainly not quick enough for a rat to get out anyway. The set up was difficult but having checked the instructions and had my dad look at it, it is set up properly. Very poor design. I’ll be returning.

Caught several foxes and despite their struggles they didn’t escape. Also caught a few squirrels. Initially the fox was just reaching in and taking the food. So I put one end of the trap against a wall and put the food at that end of the cage. The fox then had to cross the trigger to reach the food. Great it folds flat for storage. Easy to put together. Strong and able to contain a large fox. I recommend.

I usually don’t write reviews, but made an exception for this one. We have wooden decking and had a family of foxes living under it in our garden, mama, papa and five cubs. Got this as a last resort (we tried building a ladder for the cubs to climb up and over the fence, but they just ignored it). We eventually managed to capture all five cubs, but through trial and error, we learnt the following:- 1. The metal plates can get lodged at an angle, so be careful when setting up. Ensure the plates are sitting perfectly for it to fall down when the central plate is stepped on. Test it a few times to be absolutely sure. 2. Wedge the cage so it cannot be tugged at and dragged by the foxes. 3. It’s best to close one end, leaving only the other end open. Leave food at the closed off end so the fox has to go deep into the cage to step on the central plate. Also leave bait at the entrance to entice them in. 4. I used plywood as a flooring for the base of the cage. The foxes will inevitably release some excrements once trapped. NB - ensure the central plate is not hindered by the flooring. Definitely would recommend as the trap is sturdy, foldable, reusable and most importantly it works - we managed to capture 5 cubs (2 on the first night and 3 the second night). Unfortunately I have to deduct one star as on two occasions the metal end plate did not fall down. On the first occasion it was wedged at an angle upon set up and the second time was after the cage was dragged around by one of the cubs.
