Q: The manufacturing plate on my second hand Aeron is missing. Is there some other way to determine the year of manufacture?

My label for my Arron also was missing and my chair is very old. I had bought it second hand so had no idea the year it was manufactured. The rings designed to help remove the cylinder were too big for the width of my cylinder and the cylinder was truly stuck. In the end I sprayed WD40 and let it sit overnight then and watched a video on how to remove with a pipe wrench and a hammer. Success!! The new cylinder works perfectly after watching another video on how to adjust it. The videos were on YouTube. I can recommend the cylinder. The rings would have worked well if they had fit my specific situation.
