Don't Freeze Up at Meal Time -- Reach Into the Freezer Instead Let's admit it: we all want to save time and money while still putting healthy and tasty homemade food on the table. But how? Karrie Truman, creator of the much-beloved blog Happy Money Saver, is going to let you in on a secret: the answer is freezer meals. When she was an exhausted young mom, Karrie found herself serving processed or fast food at the end of a busy day even though she knew it wasn't what she wanted her family to be eating. Then she discovered freezer meals. Immediately, she had home-cooked, easy and delicious food at her fingertips and more time to spend with loved ones. In Seriously Good Freezer Meals , Karrie shares 150 recipes photos that will change the way you think about freezer cooking. You won't find your mother or grandmother's freezer meals here (except lasagna, of course). Her recipes include Morning Energy Bars, Empanada Hand Pies, Coconut Cashew Basil Curry Soup, Smoky Grilled Louisiana Turkey Legs, and Layered Chocolate Mousse Cake with tons of vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options, too. Plus, she adds a bulk-batch chart for ease in making large quantities of each freezer-meal recipe. Karrie gives you all the tools you need to become a freezer-meal genius: information on shopping, cooking, freezing, thawing and everything in between. The book includes beginner, intermediate and advanced meal plan programs to guide you in cooking 7 to 50 meals in a day. You read that right: 50 meals in a day. No more excuses: it's time to start cooking delicious meals that will have you feeling anything but left out in the cold! Review: This Cookbook Will Save You a Ton of Time - Speaking of time, I don't leave a lot of desertcart reviews because it's so time-consuming, but I had to for this one. This book has saved me so much time that I feel like I should pay more. ;) I bought this cookbook because my 83-year-old mother-in-law moved into our home, and she's used to eating 3 meals a day. My husband and I don't normally eat that much, but I wanted to provide what she was used to, so I was thrust into a world of cooking more than usual. I work full time from home, so you'd think it would be easy, but it's not. I decided I would have to figure out a way to cook meals ahead of time and store them in the freezer so I could just pull them out as needed. I've collected a lot of cookbooks over the years. I'm really impressed with this one. First of all, not everything freezes well. I remember I froze some apples a few years ago, and they were gross when I thawed them. Freezing foods correctly is definitely an art form. In addition to learning which foods can be frozen, I learned from this cookbook that there's a certain way to wrap them before putting them into the freezer to avoid freezer burn. The author also puts tips for power-cooks who want to spend an entire day cooking so they don't have to cook again for a while. I've been doing that on Saturdays. I cook 5 or 6 of these recipes and store them for the next week. It's genius!!! Now to the recipes. They are really, really good, like the title suggests. I'll list a few of my favorites below. 1. Savory Salmon in Foil - This recipe is literally the best baked salmon I've ever tasted. In addition to that, you store the salmon fillets in the freezer in individual packets, so you can pull out 2 or 3 or whatever you need. The remaining salmon fillets can remain frozen. In this recipe, you prepare each salmon fillet in a piece of foil. I mean everything, including the spices and lemon slices on top of the salmon. Then you wrap each one. After thawing, I cook it exactly like the instructions suggest, and it's D E L I C I O U S !!! I've made this recipe several times. It's definitely my number one fave in this book. 2. Sweet and Sour Meatballs - My husband likes these meatballs so much that he usually eats a bunch of them before I can even get them into the freezer. In this recipe, you make homemade sweet and sour sauce. Omg, it's so easy and goooood! It doesn't have any weird ingredients either. This one has also become a staple for us. Loooove this one! 3. Honey Pork Chops - I think this is the easiest recipe in this book, and they'll be the best pork chops you've ever made. The instructions say to store the 6 pork chops in the sauce in a large ziploc in the freezer. I store 2 ziplocs with 3 pork chops in each in the freezer, so I can stretch this into 2 meals. Actually, I do that with most of the recipes in this book. I divide them into 2 freezer meals because we don't eat that much. These pork chops are juicy and amazing! You'll love them. There's a recipe from this book that I haven't made yet, but I'm about to make it. It's called "Cauliflower Crave Soup." It looks so good in the pictures. Oh, that's another thing, there's a full color picture for each recipe, which I love. I've never gotten into those cookbooks that don't have any pictures. I don't know this author, but in case she reads this review, I'd like to thank you for making this cookbook. It's made a huge impact on our life! Our whole family loves it! xo Review: The best freezer cookbook. - I'm something of a cookbook snob, and stick mostly to ATK cookbooks for their thorough testing. I have been very pleasantly surprised by this book; the recipes are well tested, the flavors are generally spot on, the freezing tips are excellent and the charts for expanding the meals up to 5 times make this immensely practical for stocking a freezer or just doing large hospitality. Since purchasing a year ago, not a week has gone by that I don't make a meal from this book. The meals are family friendly, ot overly complicated and have truly made weeknights and hospitality simpler tasks for me as I now double or triple the meals I make and put something in the freezer fir another week. As a family with many hungry boys who does lots of hosting, this has been an excellent purchase and one I keep on hand to gift to busy moms.

Great cookbook
Great recipes! I bought it initially to prepare food for my son and daughter in law when they were near her due date and every recipe was delicious! I had to buy a second book so we could both have all the recipes

Good, but not “seriously good”
5 stars for the practical tips for making freezer meals. 3 stars for the recipe taste on average. 5 stars for including pictures of every single main dish recipe. I’ve had this cookbook for a few months now. So far, I have used this cookbook more than any other I’ve owned simply because it’s so practical. I pick a recipe, double or triple it, eat one batch tonight, freeze the others for later. Genius! Most of the recipes have been good; however, I wouldn’t describe too many as “seriously good” or “great” so far. I’ve needed to take lots of notes after I make each recipe to make sure I remake it the way I prefer the next time. For example, the chicken tikka masala is good. However, it had way too much tomato sauce for the amount of chicken the recipe calls for. Next time, I will either double the chicken or add in cauliflower to make more use of the sauce. Additionally, I thought it needed a lot more spice to give it that classic Indian flavor. The cauliflower crave soup honestly disappointed me. I had to add a ton of spices and cheeses that were not called for in the recipe to make it good. My husband liked my version, but I didn’t even keep track of what “my version” was, so I can’t remake it. The breakfast burritos were amazing. My husband loved them. I would definitely make these again. I would add more cheese to the mixture next time. The chili looks amazing, but it calls for meat that is much more expensive than a traditional chili that just uses ground beef. I want to make it, but need to either figure out how to squeeze it into the budget or just use ground beef. The Thai stir fry was pretty bland as is. I had to cook the meat in soy sauce to give it more flavor. Once I did that, it was pretty good. The brown sugar pork was a hit with my husband. I made it with her rice pilaf recipe, and it was delicious. I’d make it again. I found the chicken tenders to be under- breaded as is. It asks for flour mixed with herbs as the breading, but I think it needs bread crumbs in order to get the crust we all are familiar with. Tasty nonetheless. The sausage and gnocchi soup was good but not great. It needs to be cooked with carrots and celery to give it a deeper flavor profile. I was surprised the recipe only called for onions the aromatics. The spinach and gnocchi bake was good (not great), but it didn’t feel healthy enough for me to want to make it again. I added chicken to it and topped it with breadcrumbs. I also used her recipe to make the gnocchi from scratch. It was a pain in the moment, but I made a lot of it so I don’t need to do it again for a while. Overall, this cookbook is a great place to start. You get familiar with the art of freezer meal prepping. I just wouldn’t consider it the holy grail end. I’ll make my notes on each recipe for how it could be improved for next time, and then I’ll keep trying. This cookbook is good enough to keep trying. But not great enough for me to expect that the next recipe will surely be “seriously good.”

LOVE this book!
I rarely write reviews here on Amazon, but I feel like this book is so good, I really need to. Being new to the freezer meal world, I needed a resource that would walk me through the steps of creating a meal from scratch and then properly freezing it. It might seem obvious to those who have been doing this for awhile, but I didn't know which foods freeze best, what kinds of containers to use, or even whether to freeze before or after baking the meal. Seriously Good Freezer Meals has given me confidence in creating tasty dishes that my husband and I hope to enjoy after our baby arrives in October, when I'm certain we won't feel much like preparing meals. What I LOVE about this book: - beautiful photographs accompany each recipe - the directions are written in plain English (and are sometimes kinda funny--"Whisk like a crazy person for about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes...") - each recipe includes a bulk batch guide, with all the ingredient measurements written out if you'd like to prepare more than one batch at a time (this is SO helpful and saves me time!) - I'd happily prepare and eat almost every recipe in this book--lots of "regular" food with few speciality ingredients - includes ideas for breakfast, snacks, dinners, and desserts Things that could be improved: - it'd be nice to have a nutrition/calorie breakdown for each recipe Overall, this is a FANTASTIC book for anyone just starting out with making freezer meals. I plan to purchase more copies to use as housewarming, wedding and birthday gifts. I highly recommend it!

Seriously Good Is Seriously Amazing! Going To Help Me Get Out of the Daily What To Cook RUT.
Beautifully prepared and presented. Pictures are inviting and most all recipes have a picture of the finished dish -- so important. Easy to read and use and a wealth of content. I rarely review any books or products I purchase - good or bad - since some things I like, others don't. The last few cookbooks (and I am a collector) I purchased on Kindle - I know the pages aren't as good, etc., but my bookshelves fill up quickly. This one didn't have a Kindle option but I was so curious I decided to go ahead. There is a wealth of excellent information in this book on freezing, planning a cooking day for 5, 10 and more freezer meals and conversions to increase servings or meals (I mean if you're cooking one meal you may as well double it, right). If you have a large family and a freezer I would really recommend this. For me, and a small family, I just don't want to cook everyday and prefer to have stuff ready to go and get tired of the old easy favorites. I am tired of ordering out or eating frozen dinners with a bunch of additives so why not. Lots of folks on You Tube do this but with already prepared packets of spice mixes etc., but this one includes healthier options to make your own sauces, etc., without the additional salt. Too, it gives the recommendations in the recipes to freeze it cooked firstor not (some you should cook and freeze) and some just freeze. Really comprehensive.

If you are doing freezer meals, you cannot live without this book. ;)
For me... leaving a review (especially for a book) is unheard of. BUT, this is by FAR the best freezer meal book I have EVER owned. I have made about 75% of the recipes and they are ALL amazing, freeze well and the family loves them. I’m going on 3rd time doing a month of meals and have this book darn near memorized. It has a million bookmarks and has become my bible. If you are even thinking of doing freezer meals... you MUST get this book. Seriously, it’s that good. I love that it has a coversion chart on the bottom of each recipe to help make up to 5 batches of each recipe. I’ve gone from spending $1000/ month to $400/month for my family. So... is this book a good value? IMO... absolutely. We aren’t eating out much anymore (except for occasional pizza-which there’s a recipe for, but pizza is cheap and better from a service...). My favorite is the taco pasta shells. I thought I would try her enchilada sauce recipe once and then go back to Costco tub... but no way in heck. That sauce is killer. The white sauce is also extremely versatile. Use it for divine chicken which is phenomenal or mix with veggies, too which uncooked freezer rolls and bake for easy quick and tasty meal. Happy cooking!

Everything you could possibly need to know about Freezer Meals!
I freaking LOVE this book of "Seriously Good Freezer Meals, by Karrie Truman"! I (thought) 6 sisters were going to have incredible books on freezer meal preparing, freezing and cooking but no...I bought 4 of their books and returned 2. I kept 2 only for the recipes. But Karrie's book is amazing! She goes into such simple but thorough details about planning, buying ingredients, supplies needed, cooking and freezing; even thawing and cooking! I've been freezing marinated meats and prepped items for recipes but I wanted a in depth freezer cooking book that had food my family would actually want to eat! And that would teach me how to properly do it all successfully. This book does that and souch more for me. If you've been searching site to sites and printing recipes, watching videos to try and lay out a plan for making and preparing freezer meals, please BUY this book!! I DO NOT GET ANYTHING FOR THIS REVIEW, except the satisfaction I might can save you some time on the internet and different blogs. Her blog is great, but this book is what I needed to get started and be successful. Thank You Karrie!

Simply delicious
This is one of the best cookbooks I have ever bought. Recipes are delicious, instructions are clear and the choice between "eat now" and "freeze for later" is very well laid out. Some of the recipes need a slow cooker but, after trying several of the ones that don't, I've just bought a slow cooker as they sound so good. Both my adult sons are buying this book after tasting the last 3 weeks of recipes for family Sunday meal.

Best meal prep cookbook!
Absolutely love this book! I’m a vegetarian who does not like handling meat... but I do for my husband. This book has saved my life. The recipes are sooo easy and get rave reviews! I even turned a couple veggie and they were great. It’s a real struggle for me as I obviously don’t taste the meat food, and the seasoning comes out perfectly (according to my family) which is not always the case. I’ve tried so many recipes, some you cook and freeze, some you marinate and freeze but totally up to you. Helps me deal with meat cooking once a month instead of regularly lol. My sister is a foodie- loves seafood, meats, veggie options. She ordered her own during quarantine and her family including her 18 month old just can’t get enough either. So highly recommend! I also use different cuts of meats at times as the bones freak me out, and still great success! I reach out to Karrie to thank her for helping me through this book and she’s so sweet too! Even sent back veggie options adapted from her book! After hoarding cookbooks for year, have about 200... this is by far the most used! I cannot wait for Karrie to come out with another freezer meal book! Thanks so much!! Ps. The pics arent great, I am far from a photographer but these were some of the hits in our family! Baked Shrimp Scampi Herbes de Provence Chicken Honey Mustard Chicken Rosemary Pork Chop (most used recipe) All recipes are make now or freeze now make later, so many options!

Joyeux!
A recommander.
