I've ordered this fan for my desk at work. There are two settings, high and low - low is more than effective from a meter away and high really gives you that burst of cool air.When in low the fan is very quiet, almost silent. When in high it's still quiet! Both settings produce a cool breeze.USB cable is about a meter long, which is great.I've only used the fan for a couple of days and it shows no sign of cheapness, sturdy, looks great and actually cools you down instead of blowing warm air at you.All in all a great, cheap fan that does the job and doesn't offend colleagues with the noise.

Obviously since this runs off a usb port it is not going to blow you away, but it is larger than many other budget fans and gives enough breeze to cool the face in a hot office. It is also small enough to hide in a filing cabinet so that your colleagues don't pinch it, but it would not fit in any desk drawer unless deep. It can be taken apart to clean although this is a bit awkward. Overall I am happy with this purchase.

My daughter had a couple of these fans and I was amazed at how powerful they are. The effects could still be felt at least six feet away. I actually bought it for my bedside table but found it really didn't need to be that close. It's now on a chest of draws about four feet away and cools me down just fine. Personally, I wouldn't use it on my desk (which is not huge) as I think it might be a little too powerful. Although I understand it is recommended for cooling laptops I don't need it for this so I can't say how well that feature works. However, it works well on mains power with a USB adaptor. This fan is quite versatile as it's small enough to place on most surfaces and light enough to move around where needed. As the fan can be angled up or down, it works equally well from the floor or from a shelf. The only thing I found a little annoying was that the lead is rather short, about 140 cm. Is it noisy? Well I can hear it when it starts up but it isn't noisy enough to bother me - a low frequency hum which I don't notice after a while and it hasn't yet kept me awake at night. Typically, a week after I bought this fan the weather turned cooler and I haven't needed it recently. Not having used it for long, I can't say how robust it is but, on the face of it, it seems quite good value for money and I am pleased with it so far.

I ordered this USB after reading reviews on Amazon stating it was the best USB fan ever. The an arrived next day (Amazon Prime rocks) and I unpacked it and plugged into my laptops USB and turned on the power with excitement. WOW this fan is powerful. I have now been using it several days and it generates a great amount of cool air (better than some mains plug fans). I cannot recommend this enough. With two speeds of fan and very very quiet you cannot get a better USB fan for this price. It is slightly bigger than most USB fans (6 inches instead of 4) but that's a bonus I think.If you are looking or a great fan and happy with it being USB then I would advise to get this one! A great product!

Ok, so this just arrived and I have only used it for one day at my office. We are not allowed to use the mains a/c due to power limitations, so I had been using those little one speed, metal cage USB fans, which are more of a gimmick than effective air movers. This is much larger and really 'blows'. Very effective ventilation from only a USB power supply. I am extremely impressed. The only thing I cannot comment on is how long it will last. If I can use it daily, over the summer, and it holds up, then it is a brilliant product. It looks like you have to undo two screws, on the back, to take it apart to clean the blades, which should not be too much trouble. Dirt on the blades of any fan, severely affects it's performance (just like ice on an aircraft wing). It disrupts the airflow. For now, I thoroughly recommend this USB fan and the price is amazingly good!

EDIT: Changing this review score to reflect the higher price. I bought this at £10.99, however it seems to have bumped up to £15.99 over summer. For that price you could buy a full size, mains powered desk fan!A really nice desk fan. The plastic casing around the sides seems to really help with decent directed airflow, even at it's "slow" setting.It's a bit bigger than I expected compared to other USB fans I've used - though that's not a bad thing, since a bigger fan means even more airflow! -But it's worth considering if you don't have much desk space. See the attached pic for an idea of its size compared to my wristwatch.The only downside? The plastic base is a little bit flimsy for my liking, and it's certainly not silent by any measure, but it's quiet enough.

Works quite well and gives nice air flow. However it's not great for bedroom as it's relatively loud. Good enough for office or living room. Would still buy it though

I wanted a little fan to sit alongside me at my desk while working from home. I have a big fan (12") that is just a bit big and noisy for the job. This one is a better size and it's usb powered, so can be plugged into my computer while I'm working. There are 2 speeds (little rocker switch at the back of the fan to turn on to high or low setting or turn off). I'm happy with the weight, sturdiness and loudness of the fan and it's doing the job I wanted, even if it has turned out to be a little larger than I anticipated.
