PIXMA TS9521Ca – Wireless Home All-in-One Inkjet Printer

I wanted to use this for a while before I reviewed it. All I can do is compare with my previous Canon so her goes. At first I had trouble finding things when I scanned them. It is more complicated than my previous Canon so it definitely took a little getting used to. My previous Canon was pretty simple. That being said, now that I am more familiar, even though my scans are sent to different places from where I am used to, they are easier now for me to find and it's pretty easy to use. As far as printing, the quality of photos is very good. I like the fact that the ink comes in different colors. That was one feature I looked for before purchasing. I don't want to replace just one cartridge. I like having the different colors in separate cartridges. I feel like I am going through ink faster than my previous Canon. I can only guess that the prints are maybe a better quality and use a little more ink. And, the ink is a little more expensive than with my other Canon. When printing photos, you will need to put paper in the feed at the back of the printer. I was used to two front feeds, one for photo and one for documents. Now, photos are a back feed and documents are a front feed. This printer will also do a top feed but I have not used that yet. All in all, I would say I am happy with this Canon. I didn't need it to do a lot of extras but they are available if needed.

I am really satisfied with my new Canon printer. I haven't tried printing on 12x12 cardstock yet, but I am happy that it can do that! I had been fighting with my HP for the past year and put off buying a new one, because I am not techy, but this was easy to set up! It works great - prints 110 lb. cardstock with ease and no issues with printing on my printable vinyl for use on my Cricut.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS PRINTER. I wish I had done a more in depth research before I purchase. Was highly recommended by a YouTube crafter that I follow and I was at the time looking for a nice printer to print at least 11x17. Got it in January of this year and was only able to use it about three times. My second attempt I had to take it to an authorized dealer to have it looked at. It prints one copy then I get the 5100 error code. I've already watched almost 100 videos and still not able to rectify the issue. I know for sure that there is no paper jam. The cartridges are all in properly and there are no foreign objects inside. I don't have money to keep taking it to the service shop after every print. If the return window wasn't closed I would have returned it. DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMENT. I'm so frustrated right now it doesn't even worth the one star that I gave it. Apart from this issue, the three prints that I did get were very nice prints.

I just got this printer today and so far I’m extremely satisfied. The set up was very easy. Plug and play. I did some test prints compared to my last Canon Pixma MG3600 series and the results were amazing. The colors on my MG3600 was very over saturated and lines were not as crispy as the TS9500 series. I also did a test print on cardstock and the quality was great. I do a lot of crafts for birthdays and printing on cardstock was a need. The printer also looks great and fits on my shelf nicely. It’s not any bigger than my last printer. Thumbs up so far!

**UPDATE 8/31/25 - Increase in stars - I figured out the issue of the 5100 Error Code - It causes an issue if you have anything sitting on top of the printer (extra paper, a book, or anything of weight). It pushes down on the top document feeder and somehow misaligns the inside pieces, to cause the ink carriage that goes back and forth inside to not operate correctly, and it cannot get back and forth to print (it would make a terrible grinding & clicking sound that we couldn’t figure out)… Not sure why it happens, but now we just ensure that the top is free of paper or anything extra before hitting print, and it seems to work without issue. Great print quality that I’ve come to love with Canon PIXMA, and nice to have the document feeder for the copies now! Just wish Canon’s QuickStart Guide stated not to set anything on top. I didn’t see an issue, but quickly realized it was. Just wanted to share my findings, in case anyone is experiencing the same issue, and needs a solution! Original Review - Mixed feelings. I have always been a Canon owner, Cameras and printers. This is my third Canon PIXMA Color Inkjet Printer. I just wanted an upgrade of a similar type, to include a top-feeder copier and paper cassette that holds a little more paper. All of my previous wi-fi models with flatbed scanner have lasted many many years each. They are easy to set up, are a good value for print quality, and they are all-in-one. This new TS9521Ca has been a little finicky. It always pops a 5100 Support Code for no apparent reason (although it is after it makes a terrible sound, and I know I have removed all the orange tape). I think I have figured out that it’s when the paper tray is pushed in sometimes that it will do that. Sometimes the print head ink/ carriage won’t move when I open the lid, but I am able to move it by hand to try to troubleshoot. I’m still trying to isolate why it does it and will likely have to call Canon Support if it happens again, so that I can hopefully get a replacement or fix. I bought extended warranty, but that doesn’t kick in until after the first year. I want to love it like the others because it prints amazing, and works great. It’s just the error codes making me a bit nervous and frustrated with lost time messing with it, as it’s tough on my small business. I have only had it for two months, and it’s already errored twice. Will update if anything changes significantly.

I've never owned a device with such HORRIBLE wireless capabilities. Which is sad as this is a very capable printer with nice color and ability to print on 110-pound cardstock. But honestly, I am ready to smash this printer with a sledgehammer as it is so frustrating. I am no dummy with computers and devices, but this is incredibly disappointing considering the cost of this printer. I have a printer cable coming tomorrow, hopefully it will solve this headache.

So far they are working well and we use it as tool to print a lot of DIY stickers for the kids.

This printer is by far the best printer for paper crafters and those who create greeting cards at home. You will not be able to foil with this printer; however, due to the pigment black ink cartridge, you can print out digital images and use this for coloring with alcohol markers. You must allow the ink to fully set into the paper before adding the markers. I can use this for printing on watercolor paper and 110# card stock. The prints are fantastic.
