They are loose in the package. The package is made from plastic and has an open and close seal.

How ybig is each pod?

Hi there! Each pod is 1 1/4 inch x 1 1/4 inch. The thickness varies but is approximately 3/4 inch at the thickest part. Take care! – Brooklyn, Mrs. Meyer's Consumer Care

does this have bleach (chlorine) in it? I need a dishwasher soap without bleach.

I don't believe so. It says no chlorine. It's a great product.
