This album does a good job of capturing Morrissey's best early solo work - many great songs but his best work clearly with the Smiths because of the great collaboration with Johnny Marr. It is worth buying all of the Smiths albums and not just the compilations. I bought the triple album (Morrissey: The HMV/Parlophone Singles 88-95) because I loved this so much but to be honest not that many other songs that make the grade

Morrisseys best period on one disc all the singles are here apart from Sing Your Life which is replaced by the b side cover of The Jams Thats Entertainment, wise move now wheres the follow up ?

Molt bon disco

There are quite a few Morrissey compilations on the market, but IMHO this is the best one out there, and it also serves as an excellent introduction to his solo career. First off, it's dirt cheap - it's easily found in used but excellent condition for just a few dollars (or British pounds) here and elsewhere. Second, the mastering is as good as one could reasonably hope - this disc was released in 1997, but it doesn't have any of the "brick-walling" or added compression associated with modern mastering trends. That alone puts this compilation above the others, but even if that wasn't a factor, the track selection is impeccable, scooping up the best-known songs from his peak years. He's released some fine music since 1997, and listeners should definitely check out albums like 'Your Arsenal' ("I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday" from that album is a personal favorite), but even after accumulating a pile of Morrissey records over the years, I still enjoy listening to this disc very much - it's the one I bring when driving my old car which has nothing but a radio and a single disc CD player for one's listening pleasure.

Wenn es um Künstler aus und ich meine nicht Gruppen " Morrissey " ist bis es an der Oberseite mit den ganz Großen . Meine Top-5- Picks würde Morrissey , David Bowie, David Sylvian , Patti Smith und Peter Murphy sein ( Ja, das ist Elvis gut aussehend) . Morrissey ist ein großartiger Darsteller , aber es ist sein Schreiben , Stimme , Soul und Überzeugung, dass wirklich hebt ihn . Er ist sehr reizvoll und sollte nicht gerichtet , sondern für sein Talent zu bewundern. Nur wenige Künstler haben heute auch natürliche oder echtes Talent , es ist, als wenn sie in einer Fabrik in Jersey hergestellt sind . Morrissey ist aber jetzt heute und immer originellere und mehr relevant. Ich bin ein Fan seit den frühen 80er Jahren gewesen, und ich immer , um seine Musik zurück jeder so oft , um mich von der Bedeutung dessen bewusst zu erinnern.
