DO I HAVE TO START THE KIT IMMEDIATELY?

Yes, this Shiitake Log is a "Ready growing" variety of kit. The longest you could go without starting the growing process, would be one week. ONLY if you can unbox and keep the Log in its wrapper, then place it in the fridge to slow down its growth.

ARE THE KITS EASY TO GROW, ARE THEY SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?

Yes these kits are suitable for children, the kit grows very quickly and is pre started to ensure a good crop of Shiitake Mushrooms will occur with just twice daily spraying of the log with water

It is important to pick the mushrooms on time for maximum flavour, it is best to pick them just as the caps start turning up. To harvest fold the bag down, cutting each mushroom as close to the block as possible.

CAN I GROW THESE OUTSIDE?

No, all our kits are designed to be grown indoors, avoiding cupboards, enclosed spaces and direct sunlight. Greenhouses are also not recommended.
