Not enough detail to fill up the story line
The book reads well but there is no character development whatsoever and the plot is ridiculous. Basically a young woman is swindled into marriage by an abuser. She runs away on her wedding night and ends up in the mountains where three brothers immediately decide she is wife material and within 24 hours they have seduced her. Sex scenes with all follow. Big bad husband comes after her. More sex. Husband ends up in jail. More sex. Then she ends up knocked up and they live happily ever after. Shocker. A review I read once said there wasn't enough meat to the story and that phrase applies here. There is nothing much to this story.

3 predictably somewhat cheesy insta-love with 3 brothers guilty pleasure stars
3 predictably somewhat cheesy insta-love with 3 brothers guilty pleasure starsThis book is definitely not for everyone, but it fit the bill for me in terms of what I was looking for at the time: steamy, suspenseful, erotic, and THREE HOT MEN. There are plenty of aspects of it that might be considered cliche, but I went in knowing what I'd be getting, so expectations are key to enjoyment.Adam, Ethan, and Ryan Colter (in that birth order) are brothers who run the aptly named 3 Brothers Inn in Colorado where they make a solid living from taking horse riding parties and hunters out in the Great Rocky Mountains. While they are happy to be doing what they always wanted, they are missing one key element: a woman. Yes, just the one. As the product of 1 mother and 3 fathers (and said fathers the product of a similar scenario), these brothers have been told and have felt that there will only be one woman for them. But as Adam goes out to gather the mail, he is starting to have doubts that they will ever find her. He is a dominating presence as the eldest; Ethan has always been the peacemaker; and Ryan has not been the same since he came back from the war where he spent time as a POW (that he refuses to discuss). How can 3 very different personalities find 1 woman to meet their varied needs? As he is lamenting their circumstances, he spies a brightly colored object contrasting with the stark white snow covering the ground. When he gets closer and realizes it's actually a woman, he is shocked. And when he picks scoops her small form up into his arms and sees her for the first time, he is struck. Could she be the one?Holly is a woman on the run who is out of options. She witnessed her husband do something horrible on their wedding day, and then she ran away from him on their wedding night when he showed his true colors and physically abused her. When her car died on the highway, she did the only thing she could think to do: keep moving. Ill prepared for the cold weather and not recalling the last time she ate, she succumbed to the elements and exhaustion and collapses. Imagine her surprise when she wakes to find herself in a warm tub with a gorgeous man staring at her with concern. Her first reaction is fear, but something in his eyes tells her he won't harm her. And when she realizes there are THREE of these large hunky brothers who all look at her as if they want to simultaneously devour and protect her, she is at a loss for what to do next. She doesn't want anyone to be harmed trying to help her, but she is out of options. And what sense does it make to trust 3 men she just met when she is fleeing from a man she thought she knew? Has she exchanged one bad situation for another? Can she trust these strangers she feels inexorably drawn to? And what happens when her "husband" will stop at nothing to find and reclaim her? What I liked:--- It can be corny, but I kind of like instalove sometimes, especially when it means more steamy goodness throughout the story--- The brothers were different but likeable in their own ways--- Some element of suspense always makes the pages turn more quicklyWhat I didn't like as much:--- There was some corny/cheesy stuff going on at times--- Holly was tough to like at times - immature moments and some general "I don't know what to do" hand-wringing situations - I tend to like heroines with a bit more backbone and confidence--- She dated her husband for 4 years or something like that and never slept with him? Yeah.... okay--- A few plot holes and inconsistenciesOverall, if you know what you're getting into and want a little insta-love with LOTS of steam that is worlds of over the top with some thin plot points, it's a good read. All about the expectations going in with this one.Plot --- 4.5/5Main Characters --- 4.5/5Supporting Cast --- 4/5Steam Level* --- 5/5 (M/F/M scenarios with another M in there with the F; no M/M anything, thankfully since they're BROTHERS *shudder*)Violence --- some (stabbing, shooting, rock bashing, and some domestic abuse descriptions)Language --- not egregiousPOV --- 3rd*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild; 2/5 - sensual but nothing descriptive; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere; 4/5 - yes please! ; 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all

Not up to her usual standard!
I've read quite a few other books by this author & enjoyed them all enough to try this series but to me, this one misses the mark! I'm quite happy to enjoy erotic scenes in my books, but I felt at times, that this booked crossed over that line into porn & in fact seemed designed more to male tastes than Maya's other books! In other words, basically a simplistic story & characters, but plenty of graphic sex scenes! Also I prefer some sort of realism to relate to, & I found it definitely unrealistic, & could be called abusive even; for a supposed virgin, to be prepared to participate in sex with 3 men at the same time; so soon after they took her in, & had assured her, that they only wanted to cherish & care for her! I would like to have known more of the brother's characters & motivations too, but maybe I'm in the minority! as obviously many have read this series

Great Re-Read!
The Colters' Legacy series is definitely recommended as a great set of re-reads! This series has well thought out story lines that so many other books in this genre just don't have. You'll find the romance, of course; fast-paced drama; even funny moments with family dynamics and what I call "great visuals"! This book takes you to the Rockies and its beautiful vistas! I was transported to one of my favorite parks ( Rocky Mountain National ) with Maya's beautiful descriptions of the Rockies' incredible scenery! Another big plus which I really appreciated was the editor did her/his job! E-books are notorious for editing errors, yet this series was so refreshingly free of errors on that score. I believe this series to be one of the best of Maya Banks' works. If you are a fan of Maya Banks, you should definitely buy this series. You will not be disappointed.

Love Can come in threes...
I've only read Maya Banks historical books so this was a first for me. When I realized the main character Holly was going to have three brothers Adam, Ethan and Ryan as husbands I didn't think I would like this book but I kept reading and couldn't put it down. I loved the book. It was a story about unconditional love and loyalty. It also showed that sometimes the family that we seek is not the traditional family. If you have a open mind and you are looking for something different then I highly recommend this book for reading. You will love the story and fall in love with each character. You will also love Maya Banks writing.

it didnt work for me
I found it really hard to get into this book. I thinks the plot the problem, the relationship between the three brothers and the heroine was so quickly established with very little build up and from then on it was sex sex sex with very few hitches along the way. The rest of the plot is frothy and insipid with very little real tension or adventure, it seems merely a device to bridge the gap between different permutations of sexual exploits. The atmosphere of the relationship they establish is cosy snuggley sickly sweet, mutual respect, love and acceptance with not a hint of jealousy, distrust or misunderstanding along the way. I just couldn't buy into it. There is a lot of sex in this book – the scenes are well written and quite different from your average romance, there is no lack of steamy detail here, it is the one part of the book that real works well. I have read other Maya banks books and really enjoyed them - she is a author i will come back to, just not this series of books. For me this book really lacked a bit of heart – for all its cosy fireside snuggles it just seemed a little cold.

I think I'd have Ethan
Okay, so my friend told me all about this book and I wasn't going to read it until I stumbled over it and thought why not?The story starts with the eldest of the three brothers, Adam, finding a woman lying unconscious in the snow. Knowing she needs help, he takes her back to the cabin he shares with his two brothers to nurse her back to health. But... along the way he starts to get incredibly turned on. Not so cool considering she's freakin' unconscious. It does give him jolt though because he 'knows' that this is the woman. You see the Colters are a strange family to say the least. Strange because their mother married three brothers and their grandmothers married three brothers. So they all share the same mother but different dads... or who the hell knows who is the father to which. I was just impressed that none of them had a third eye.Holly is running away from her husband who killed a man on their wedding night. Waking up in a cabin with three strange men, well, she didn't seem that upset about it. But, hey, three great looking guys all fussing over you? I think I'd stay too.Soon she's kissing the brothers and feeling kind of skanky and confused about how attracted she is to each one. When they tell her that she's THEIR woman to kind of share well, it gets kind of steamy. What I loved about the book- the guys! You have Adam, the eldest brother who is very take charge and call's her baby. He once crushed on the local town Sheriff and hoped she would be the one but his brothers reacted with both dislike and indifference. Bow that he has Holly he knows why and all thoughts of the Sheriff are a thing of the past. All he wants it to love and protect Holly.Ethan (my favourite) is the charming, funny and more relaxed brother. He's always got a smile and something funny to say and I was green because I wanted to snuggle up to him and play Monopoly.Last, there's Ryan, an ex solider he has a lot of pains with his legs, is stubborn and very serious. He tends to keep things to himself but opens up around Holly. The boys made this book for me. They had it all! I wanted to be their woman, because let's face it ladies, anyone who claims they wouldn't want to be worshipped by three gorgeous men are lying! What I didn't like -Holly.The woman is beyond idiotic. She marries a guy because he's safe, he kills someone she runs off and doesn't seem to be a little afraid of the fact that she's with three random men who want to have sex with her... at the same time. The fact that she was a virgin and her first time was with three different men and she seemed to show no discomfort shocked me.When Lacey (town Sheriff) makes her appearance she's irrationally jealous. I get why, Adams great catch, but her reasons were stupid. I would have felt insecure about the fact that this woman was the one he'd wanted and only didn't get because his brothers didn't like her and got me by default, not because she's tall and pretty and is confident. I had to roll my eyes at that one.All through the book she's just whining and fearing for the guys and I just tuned her out after a while and imagined how sexy those brothers were.To those who are thinking of reading it, I say go for it, but don't take the book too seriously. This is porn that's just been written and it's awesome for it. Don't pay too much attention to how bizarre it all is or whether the fact that it's kind of wrong. Just do what I did and go along for the ride... and make sure you have you partner around because it will get you hot and bothered ;)

A very steamy read but storyline lets it down so much.
This is the second book I've read by Maya Banks, with the other one being Be with Me. I enjoyed reading this book a lot more and raced through it although at times I did find myself getting frustrated by the plot and shaking my head thinking that it was just a bit TOO unbelievable. Sometimes I don't think it matters too much as long as the erotica is written really well. However, in this case it came across that the author was just being plain lazy and either just missed bits out or skimmed over things real quick. As other reviewers have said, the pace is very fast (in lots of places) and you can't help but think "as if."Thankfully the book was saved by the characters themselves and the sheer number of super sexy scenes. That's why I've still given it a decent rating. The book regularly jumps from one sexy scene to another and you can't help but keep turning the pages. I enjoyed it but with both of the books I've read I can't help but feel that something was missing and I can't put my finger on it. I haven't written her off though and will probably buy more of her books in the future. Be with Me

A Great, Easy Read...
It took me months to purchase this book, as I wasn't quite sure. However, when I finally got it, I read it in a couple of hours and thoroughly enjoyed it. With the best will in the world, anyone would find this permanent 'Menage A Quatre' scenario hard to believe but, in the realm of fantasy, anything goes. And boy, did it!Great looking, suitably tormented alpha male lead characters, vulnerable female lead, really horrid - and unexpected - villains, great scenery (true) - and deliciously wicked sex scenes! I was left wondering how poor Holly, the object of the Colter brothers' desire, was going to cope with these three hot and hunky men after the story ended. My favourite character was Ryan, the youngest Colter; a tortured soul from his stint in the Iraq war (of course he won't talk about it - except to Holly...).I would have given it a 5 star rating but the language, especially during the sex scenes, tended to be a little 'samey', and that grated on my nerves just a little bit. That said, if you want an easy afternoon read, curled up with nothing but your favourite dessert and a hot chocolate, then this is the jobbie for you.

Oh So Sexy!
The book is described in detail by both the product description and by other reviewers so I won't rehash the same thing! What I will say is I enjoyed this book very much... Luckily after I read a similar book called Second Chances by D.L. Roan which was oh so good I was desperate to read another novel like it! I did a search for similar novels and in someone's review they recommend this book! I was not disappointed...I am looking forward to the next book in the series! The additional content in the book after the novel's finished is called Callie's meadow. I suggest reading Colter's Wife first then coming back to Callie's meadow in order to keep them in sequence!

Don't waste your money!
Total and utter dross!!!I gave up after a few chapters - it's boring, repetitive and poorly written. The premise is ridiculous and I wasn't remotely interested in discovering the "back story" or denouement (if there was one).Even the sex scenes get boring after a while!!!If it were possible I'd have scored it "Nul points!!!" but it seems 1 is the lowest score allowed.

Worth the money
Colter's woman is a really amazing and awasome book. I love this book and i'm sure it was worth the money!!! the ending left me breathless ! The charecters were well discribed and i really liked them. 'Colter's Woman' had many passionate and hot scenes between Adam, Ryan, Ethan and Holly ( the main charecters), which made the book even better! The book was worth my time and i cant wait to read next books in the series.i definitely recommend this book.

3 stories in one
Unexpectedly you get 3 stories. The first is the chaotic main story; full of love, heartbreak and blood. They next 2 are side stories that build a fuller picture of their lives.
