Handy Tools They Are AND They Do Work ...
Could've used these a while back during a massive remodel but opted for help and the guys were 'commercial' drwall installers by trade - stating 'commercial' has its limits as to any type of perfection - the guys work at 'speed' - they measure n saw cut - if they're off a tad too bad damage done - any faults r left to 'finishers' to handle. They save u some $ - they cost u time in the end. * This is why most pros will say - 'this item is pretty much useless' and will avoid using them due to the xtra time consumed having to mess with these and a cutout tool over just measuring everything and while doin cuts use a jabsaw - done - no going back. I also had a pro 'finisher' here doing the mud n tape n main finsihing NOT 'lites/outlets/switches' - thats left for me to handle. That said - out of like 40 of those to do in total - nearly every lite/outlet/switch needed some amount of repair - very few didnt ! And no tey arent that bad at what they do - they all do the same on average. Now to fast forward. They're were a few more switches n outlets I had added after all that where some drywall also needed to b installed - doing this myself now as installer/finisher a cutout tools the right tool to have - saves the time wasted of miscuts and repairs AND thats when i wanted to give these a try. I did - results were fine - * used em for both single and 'double' gang boxes - NO they dont cover everything in a double thou its the same principle and IF u hava 'good high quality cutout tool u can '''adjust bit depth''' on it instead of plunging in - no wirings ever hit. As for these markers cracking drywall - dont think they're meant to use force to drywall so it cracks upon full install to the wall in the first place. Instead - grab a foot long 2x4 (NOT yur hand) - push on the 2x4 over the boxes area til enough pressures been applied to reveal the point of the marker item here - believe me you'll see it under the 2x4. The cutout tool will do the rest - dont wack the 2x4 til the drywalls fully against box or studs. A couple screws hold the wall in place to zip around the box. IF yur not into doing that u shouldnt b working with drywall in the first place. Good product here and recommend them.

Takes some skill to work around wires in a box
These brackets are designed to be inserted in an electrical box and then puncture through drywall to show where the drywall needs to be cut. First it takes some skill to position this with wires in the box. Almost impossible with more than one Romex. Still not sure how to reliably use it for multi-gang boxes. Then, if you look at the pics online they show the spike breaking through drywall which is not very elegant and can cause drywall damage that hampers identifying the center and cutting a rectangle. I’d much prefer something that marked the back with the true outline of the box rather than just punch through.

Drywall Outlet Marker
This Socket Marker is easy to use. With a sharp tip penetrating the board, it helps me to find the center of the electrical box. Socket markers can reduce accidents and mistakes during the installation of drywall. It can find the electrical box more easily, greatly reducing the need for measurement and protecting the wires from damage.

No frills needed
The socket markers work completely as expected and generally keep the broken paper of the drywall from splitting too far. Using the markers is straight forward: Where it punches through, you can get a pretty good measurement of where you'll need to cut for the electrical box the marker is resting in. Pretty simple. The material of the markers is strong, so I had no problems with the ends breaking off.

DiY Saver
I hate hanging drywall especially where outlets are because i never get the hole just right, well this is a game changer. I put this in the outlet box and it protects the wiring and gives the center of the box so I can cut the perfect outlet. Love them.

Clunky and unhelpful
I thought these would be helpful for hanging drywall and locating sockets, but they're more trouble than they're worth. I was disappointed with how poorly they stick into the socket and only work for your standard one-plug hole. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Regardless, not overly impressed with the quality either.

Helpful if you are a DIYer like me
These work out great if you are DIYer like me: prior to getting these, we would measure the location of the outlet boxes and mark this out on the drywall and then cut, sometimes we were not exactly on the mark. With these, we are always on the mark.We are finishing our basement so it’s not as if we are pros who do this everyday and we don’t mind if it takes more time than what the pros would do.These are made of plastic, but they are strong, we have not had one break as yet.

Great multi-usage tool
The material is plastic but a very strong one. Even the tip is very strong and hard. You can feel confident in pushing the drywall against the pointy end without it breaking or bending. Another fantastic use is using it as a holder for painting. I wish I had this long time ago.
