YISSVIC Electric Fly Swatter Bug Zapper Racket, 4000V, Rechargeable

With the UK heatwave, I had to get one of these. I was using one of those manual swatters but I was getting too annoyed so I picked one of these electric ones up. The quality of the swatter is great, I have absolutely no issues with it. It's light weight, which is great as you'll be swatting, so last thing you need is something on the heavier side. The installation was very seamless. Once you unbox it, you charge it for 3 hours and then you won't need to charge it for 3 months. Which is absolutely fantastic. The device has a protection layer on each side to protect you from accidentally touching it when in use. I have not tried touching it myself, but I can assure you, you'd have to stick your finger in pretty hard to for it to get you. There are 3 options on the device. Off, Manual and Always on. As you see on my picture, the always on features a dim light, which attracts the flies to the swatter so it can zap it. The manual version, you will need to hold down an additional button on the side right under the options, that way it's only live and active once you press that additional button. The off, well is just that. Now for the sound, it did give me a big surprise at first as this is my first zapper I've owned. It is a little bit loud, but I assume all zappers sound like that, so it doesn't bother me at all. I DEFINITELY prefer using this to my old swatter that is just a piece flappy plastic where you hope the fly lands so you get a hit on it. Saves you a lot of time hunting them when they're inside. You CAN use these on spiders too, however, since it's like a tennis racket, you have to face it flat against a wall and then hope the spider touches it. I did manage to get a spider once and it has worked, just a little trickier. I would definitely recommend this if you have a fly issue, especially in this current UK heatwave with these flies just constantly wanting to fly inside and annoy you.

I am suffering from an invasion (tens every hot day) of what is probably the awkward cluster fly: they certainly are awkward, in that if I open a window to let them out they promptly fly in the other direction. Fly spray only seems to annoy them, and I don't like using a lot of it around either myself or my pets. This electronic swatter does work well, though it does take some learning to use and it isn't as completely humane as I was hoping. (N.B. I know the jury is out on whether or not flies feel pain, but it seems rash to ASSUME that something with such a highly developed sensory system cannot). Firstly, the stand isn't a charging dock: rather the swatter charges from a USB plug. This doesn't seem to matter if using it as a swatter because it still retains the first charge after a good thirty or forty uses. Secondly, it does take a little time to learn to hit the flies squarely and firmly, but it does also seem to be a straightforward matter of practice. I've generally used it in the fixed on position because I find it awkward to hold the press button down, but this doesn't matter much. It isn't what the instructions say but it works. (The instructions are in bad English, which clinched my giving four rather than five stars, but they are decipherable). With something the size of a cluster fly, it can be annoyingly difficult to get a clean kill. If the fly gets caught in the meshes, there will generally been several loud sparks of baby lightning, and the fly will start burning. I've had no problems simply tapping these dead flies out into bin or toilet. The smell of burned fly isn't nice, but I find it difficult to believe that any fly caught like that knows what hit it: it goes in seconds from living to completely dead. It feels brutal, but most genuinely humane methods of killing animals feel like that. More commonly, however, the fly will bounce off and drop to the floor in circular convulsions, from which I have seen them recover. I am not sure what is going on here. I have been able to pick most of these flies up and either squash them firmly in a piece of kitchen paper, or drop them back onto the fly racket for a further, more immediately effective shock. I have occasionally not been able to find a dropped fly, and sometimes the racket has gone off, but the fly has been apparently unharmed or merely slower: it is impossible to guess the injury level in such cases. With so many flies, it is difficult to keep track of the one hit. However, for the most part, I'd still reckon it is probably a lot better than flyspray or traps on the humaneness scale in general, as it is much quicker when it does work, and flyspray has its own share of oblique hits. Traps are generally very slow. And I have gradually become better at hitting them hard, though there is still a lot of room for improvement. I think it probably is a lot more effective for getting rid of this type of fly than spray, though it may depend on a lot of variables, and, as I say, cluster flies seem annoyingly indifferent to the spray I'm used to using. I haven't had a shock from the swatter yet: it seems to be well designed and well guarded. I feel it is necessary to be careful of the fire risk, however. If it can set a fly burning within a few seconds, it might set light to paper etc., in much the same way. The burning flies themselves don't seem to be a fire risk, though I was initially a bit concerned: they char when actually stuck in the racket with a current running, but I've picked them up in my hands straight after without problems. There isn't much volume of fly to really get hot enough to cause anything else to catch fire, and there is not much fuel in a fly and a lot of liquid to damp it out, once the current is removed. However, the water in the toilet does seem the most secure place for a recently charred fly! Also, if you have nervous pets (or children) this may not be the best thing to use around them because of the loud, sudden noise. I can't imagine using it as a passive insect killer because it would not really be passive, between the fireworks and the smell. But perhaps these are less of an issue when using it on things like mosquitoes, which are much smaller. (My current cluster fly invasion consists of flies which are, in general, a little smaller than a greenbottle blowfly). If you're happy with the fact that effective use takes some learning, are not bothered by fireworks, and are not too squeamish about handling/squashing flies when necessary, then I recommend it from every point of view.

Seems well build and solid construction. Not too heavy to swipe but robust enough not to feel flimsy. Battery life seems great using it when swatting. It's taken the lives of over 30 files in a week. Still showing full on the indicator. Only criticism would be better to have a rubber /hand shaped grip. Seems very effective at sending the flies to meet their maker. I'm not sure how well it works just left on with the light to attract them. I suspect not much. But I've got a proper light zapper for that.

Let me start by saying I had my doubts about this product but thought I’d give it a go based on reviews… I’ve previously been let down by other bug removal devices, and predicting the impending wave of warm weather flies, I was in need of a new source of disappointment. Ordered on Saturday, and because of Amazon’s insistence on the use of borderline slave labour, it arrived less than 24 hours later. Unpacked it eagerly - especially as it came in an oversize box that suggested an accidental coffee machine or similar had been shipped - but found nothing but the item I’d actually purchased. Unpacked, turned on (arrived fully charged, nice work) and noticed it generates a soothing blue glow on setting 2. This almost certainly attracts nothing but my children, I’ll feed back tomorrow during the day to see if it catches any… Being the resourceful man I am, and in the absence of any aerial invaders at that moment, I decided to test its efficacy on a dead spider I found in the conservatory. Donned my safety glasses and leather chaps, dropped the spider corpse onto the wires, depressed the trigger anddddd… nothing. The bitter liquor of disappointment flooded my veins and I thought I’d yet again been let down by the sweet sweet lies of a fly deactivation device. In my despair I decided to stick my pinky finger into the mesh to check it was, indeed, defunct… Next thing I know I’m laying on my back desperately trying not to follow the enticing light leading me down the tunnel. My heart rate is sitting somewhere around 140bpm at this point with no 2 beats in anything resembling a rhythm. My pinky? Might as well be someone else’s at this point. Eventually my heart returns to its semi normal function, and my disappointment / impending death slowly transform into the grin of the joker (the Heath Ledger version, not the rubbish one with lady gaga in). I have a weapon of MFD (Mass Fly Destruction) in my hands… At this moment one of the intended targets of my MFD flew into the room. I sprung into action, and swung like prime Federer at the fiend. In the words of Joseph and his technical dreamcoat “a flash of light, a crash of drums, my colours faded into darkness I was left alone”… only with multiple flashes of light from the repeated arc flashes as the fly got incinerated. The fact it smelt like a slightly burned bbq was a puzzling, but not unwelcome addition to the experience… 10/10 would recommend to a friend. Real talk - don’t put your hand in it, it hurts a lot, because predictably it fires 4000 volts across the contact area

Best fly swatter I’ve ever had, huge zap on any you get and you can see the spark hitting them. Highly recommended

Explain why in gods name you put plastic frames that serve no purpose around the metal rods, flies get stuck and this swatter cant kill more than 1 fly at a time there is no way it is 4000v other swatters i have owned are much more powerful and does not have such poor design. I do not recommend it sorry.
