Mother Earth Products Instant Classic Hummus

This is our favorite lunch item for wilderness canoeing, backpacking and kayaking. It has a nice bright lemon, garlic flavor, and is a great protein source. You have to love garlic, as it does pack a punch!

I rarely leave reviews, but I was very disappointed with this hummus and wanted to leave some feedback for the company to take into account and/or for other customers as a word of caution. The flavor is 100% raw, pungent garlic. I can still feel it prickling my tongue. I didn't expect made-from-scratch flavor and texture, I purchased this to bring along on a backpacking trip, but even judged against the standard of "backpacking food", I just can't do it. I followed the instructions exactly with the first test batch, and then even tried a few batches with various ingredients to dilute/mask the flavor, but couldn't come up with anything satisfactory. Instant hummus is a great product for packing along on backcountry trips, but this one needs a huge flavor adjustment in my opinion. I hope the company will see this feedback and make some changes, because there are few commercially available options for dehydrated hummus.

I thought this would be great for backpacking (and it would be if they got the mixing proportions right!) The batch I got was so lemony and acidic it felt like it was burning my mouth. I bought two bags, if the second one is like the first, I’ll have to try mixing it with some plain dried beans or just throw it out.

Great Hummus. It’s a bit hot though. I’ve bought 2 different flavors and both was warm. Made sure there was no hot ingredients listed on the second one. Still a bit warm. Not a bad thing but it’s something to keep in mind.

It's good but burns. Like spicy but not? I won't buy again. Classic hummus isn't supposed to burn guys.

I should’ve listened to all the other reviews. At first, it has a taste of lemon, and then it becomes insanely garlic-y to where it burns your tongue and throat. We were going to take this backpacking, but we are switching to another brand.

Not homemade fresh ingredients great but good for add water and oil quick snack. Tweaks could make it better with your own touch I'm sure.

Great taste and excellent value! Easy to prepare perfect to take with you anywhere. Always fresh! I have purchased this 3 times now. Makes 4 8oz. servings but you can make any amount you want and I like that. It's way cheaper than the prepared humus and you just ad oil and water.
