DHT-S218 Dolby Atmos Soundbar for TV

Great soundbar for the price, easy to set up, lightweight, not too big, very functional with different settings on the remote control buttons, good sound projection, great surround sound, voice enhancement, Dolby atmos. Took under 5 minutes to set it up and it was working instantly and automatically connects to my tv now whenever I turn it on. It’s also Bluetooth so you can connect to laptop or phone to play music etc. Really good soundbar - I highly recommend. For the price, it’s a great budget soundbar, does the job great in my big bedroom! The bass is really good too.

Easy set up, Plug into mains, I connected TV via optical link,, and PC via Bluetooth, all was straight forward to do. Did boost Bass to max, for greatest boss response. The sound bar has been set to switch on when it detects an optical signal, and shutdown when TV turns off without the need to touch the sound bar Rich depth sound, nice rumbling bass where needed, decent volume levels to suit all sorts of films, auto detects when Dolby ATMOS signal playing and splits to good surround sound. Much better than TV's own audio speakers, with dedicated front vocal/speech For the price it's a good deal, you can add a powered Sub is you want to push the bass further. Over other sound bars this does the best job I've found so far. Enhanced vocals for crystal clear speech dialect.

Amazing sound even at low levels, movies, night and music presets. Low, med and high presets to fine tuning your listening. Hdmi, optical, Bluetooth and aux inputs. I connected my old phone by Bluetooth, instantly, on my other newer phone it needs a Denon app to work, search for the right one. The Pure sound is more neutral if you don't want the bass. Also you can tweak the bass to your preference. No wifi on this unit so i don't know whether it will work with other platforms. Exceptional product, i can't believe it is only 40 watts, 2 tweeters, 2 midrange speakers, 2 built in (sub) woofers , oh yes you can add a sub if you want but I don't think is needed. Arc, eArc work straightaway, CEC allows you to seamlessly control the volume from either the tv remote or from the Denon one, even switch on or off. I’ve spent weeks down the rabbit hole of soundbars and home audio, reading everything I could and even talking to people in places like Richer Sounds. It’s a complete minefield, especially if, like me, half the terminology feels like a foreign language. My home setup is a Hisense TV running a Virgin box, Fire Stick and PS5, and until recently I was using a budget soundbar that was just about passable. I made the mistake of “upgrading” to the Hisense AX3120G, assuming it would work seamlessly with my TV. It was a disaster. The sound was inconsistent, tinny for sports, the subwoofer easily overpowered everything, and switching between sources constantly caused quality issues. After returning it and going through far too much research again, I finally picked up this Denon soundbar and I’m genuinely blown away by how good it is. The sound is rich, detailed and far more powerful than a single unit has any right to be. Dialogue is crystal clear and action scenes have real depth without the rumbling chaos I was dealing with before. Setup couldn’t have been simpler. Plug it in, connect it via the eARC to hdmi1, ps5 into the soundbar, then virgin box and fire stick in hdmi 2 & 3 and you’re done. It all works perfectly, automatically switching between inputs seamlessly, it’s even turns its self on and off with the TV. The presets actually matter too. Movie Mode opens everything up beautifully without turning it muddy. Night Mode is outstanding, stripping out the heavy bass while keeping all the clarity, perfect for late-night TV when I don’t want to wake the house or annoy the neighbours. The dialogue enhancement is equally impressive, fixing the terrible audio mixes you often get from streaming apps. Overall I’m honestly shocked a soundbar at this price can perform like this. After weeks of trial and error, this is everything I hoped for and it’s brilliant!. Add all that, the fact you can buy additional speakers/subwoofer should you wish at a later time, which I’ll be doing once I move house. If you’re unsure what to get, I can’t recommend this highly enough. Just buy it!!

Revised review five months after purchase Initially I thought this was fantastic value as I bought it for £159.99 during the Spring Prime offer. This soundbar was really easy to set up - I just connected the HDMI cable to my Sony TV's eARC socket and it worked right away. The sound is fantastic - I can hear every word now, instead of mumbling in TV dramas and films. The remote has a volume control, bass control and various presets like music and night. This soundbar is very good value if you wait for an offer. Five months later, the soundbar is no longer connecting to my TV. I've tried resetting it, different cables and followed the troubleshooting guide but could not get it working. This is so disappointing after only five months. I guess it was too good to be true and that's why other soundbars cost £500. I contacted Amazon to return it for a refund. I have decided to buy a new TV with better sound instead, as the small remote was too lightweight and annoying.

This sound bar is great and v good value. Speech and music excellent even for a classical enthusiast. Good remote. Sound realistic, not cinema. Easy to set up.

Had 2 days, easy set up, slightly longer than i expected, sounds absolutely amazing, bass is great, wish i got this a long time ago. Doesnt disappoint. Has movie mode, music mode and night mode so it take that loudness down. The atmos is great as it monitors the back ground noise and brings forward the dialogue so no more turning the tv up and down to hear dialogue over a loud back ground. All round super pleased. The price is great too in comparison with its rivals!.

Coming from a budget 2.1 soundbar I was hoping this would take films and tv shows to the next level. And it really does. The audio quality is amazing. The sound separation is beyond what I knew was possible from a soundbar. The subwoofers give a massive amount of rumble and punch to them. They aren’t as good as a separate subwoofer but if you can’t have one of them where you live this is still a massive step up. But there were issues and I ended up returning it, even though I got this at a prime day price. The small bits are the remote. It has a pure mode that removes any processing, including Dolby. Which doesn’t make sense. It then has movie, music or night. But no normal TV mode. I’d still want Dolby with a TV show but might mode removes almost all bass and the other modes add too much for general watching. The enhanced dialog works great at the lowest setting and going above that doesn’t sound right. The build quality and looks are very good but it is a lot lighter than I expected. At this point I would have kept it but the next issue was a deal breaker. HDMI ARC. So amazing to have but using a fire TV stick in the TV and using ARC from the soundbar resulted in audio delays. And it differed from app to app. I tried everything to sort it but apparently it’s an issue with fire sticks. But that’s okay as you have HDMI pass through and that removes all audio delays! But then when I turned the TV off the soundbar would turn itself back on and play audio with the TV still off. I tried a few things but ended up giving up. So overall it’s a fantastic soundbar and has Amazing features and sound. If you use anything but a fire stick it might well work perfectly for you. But I have another soundbar now with the same pass through and it all works fine so there’s something off with this and I can’t recommend it based on my experience.
