I'm 100% satisfied and here's why...
Like many home chefs I've avoided frying foods just because of the hassles and the mess inherent in the process. If I wanted fried chicken I would simply get in the car and head to the local chicken shack. I do have a Fry Daddy and I'd use it to fry up some French fries, but, again, the hassles were always a serious impediment. I finally got more serious about the idea of fried foods and decided to research the subject. I took about a week to make my decision, but when all the dust cleared I was the proud owner of this All Clad EZ deep fryer. I like All Clad a lot and own their waffle iron that has never failed to produce perfect waffles. So, I've known about All Clad quality for a very long time. I was just reluctant to pay the premium for most of All Clad's offerings, so my kitchen is equipped with an eye on quality, but not going overboard in my spending. There are certain items that I don't scrimp on, though, and this deep fryer is one of them. I received the deep fryer yesterday and last evening I fried up some batter dipped chicken tenders. They turned out perfectly crisp and juicy. That I expected given the reviews I had already read. There are a few other deep fryers out there that handle the oil in the same manner as the All Clad. T-Fal is the main one and it's also got glowing reviews. Except for the better build quality of the All Clad there's not a nickels worth of difference between the two units from what I can tell. I'd say the main advantage of the All Clad is that it's shiny. I don't mean to sound facetious, but to my eye the All Clad has outstanding looks. Is that worth the extra $90 over the T-Fal? It was to me. But, it's the oil handling that really sets this fryer apart from the rest of the pack. So long as you don't overfill the fryer you won't have an overflow problem. Overflowing of the removable oil reservoir due to user error is the only serious complaint I've ever read. That and oil spillage while maneuvering the oil tank after draining the fry basin. It's true that the oil drain container could be better designed to avoid spillage, but so long as you have a good grip on it with both hands there really shouldn't ever be a real issue. There is one other thing that qualifies as a shortcoming. Filling the oil to the "max" line give you about 1 1/2 inches of depth under the food you're frying. A thick chicken breast might not get fully submerged when the basket is lowered into the oil. There is a workaround for those who absolutely must fry a turkey leg, but it's a little tricky. On those occasions just fill the fry basin to the depth required and when you're finished "do not" drain the oil through the filtration system. If you do you're going to have oil all over your countertop and floor. My thought is to ladle out the excess oil into a separate container until the level is down to the max line and then go ahead and complete the process through the automatic filter/drain system. It shouldn't be a big deal to go this extra step provided you remember the ladle out the excess oil so as to not overfill the drain reservoir. That's about the only way I can see getting into trouble with this fryer. Here are a few more observations that might help in your decision making process. 1. The instructions say to not use the fry basket if you're going to fry certain kinds of foods like donuts or batter dipped meats. The reason is the food tends to want to stick to the basket and that's not good. I found if I grip the meat with tongs and drag it across the surface of the hot oil a few times before dropping it the batter then it doesn't stick to the basket. Giving the basket a little shake helps, too. 2. Be CERTAIN to allow the oil to cool at least 2 hours before draining it into the reservoir. Hot oil and plastic don't mix well. I've read where others have actually melted their reservoirs. The unit also has an automatic drain function that detects when the oil is cool enough to drain. I've not tried it, yet, but will. 3. It's little awkward to carry the fryer and keep it level. The drained oil wants to slosh around like it's trying to escape. I recommend that when you've cleaned up after a fry session that you remove the oil reservoir and store it separately from the body of the fryer. The oil is still going to slosh around with any tipping from perfectly level, but it's a lot easier to manage while out of the fryer housing. I'm going to store my fryer in the pantry and keep the oil reservoir on a shelf in the garage. Without the oil the fryer is remarkably light, so ladies don't worry about being strong enough. 4. The handle on the basket can pivot or collapse to make the basket more compact for storage. That's handy if you're short on storage space. I have read the instruction booklet and while it is adequate it could be better. The real insights you need are to be found in written reviews. You'll find that many of those reviews are well thought out and helpful.

Great
This is the only electric deep fryer I've tried. I like the simple controls of turning the fryer on/off and setting the temperature and not having to fuss with any presets or sequence of button presses. I fried catfish twice and it turned out great. Oil heated up in about 5 minutes. I like that it has a clip area to hold the basket up over the oil when done cooking. The oil drain and filter function worked great. Once turning on oil draining, it's supposed to wait until the temperature of the oil is low enough before it drains. I don't plan on testing that since I prefer to be careful and just wait for the oil to cool before turning on the oil draining. To pour the drained oil back into the frying container, I put a rubber band over the lid as an added security measure to prevent sudden spillage. The lid is not meant to stay securely locked in place when pouring the oil, you have to hold it in place. When filling oil up the max line, the actual depth of oil available to fry with using the basket is only about 1 1/4 inches which seems pretty shallow to me. The frying depth works fine for my needs but it does seem limiting. The metal of the outer housing has some flex to it which feels kind of cheap. I expected the metal to feel more thick and rigid considering this an all clad branded product, even if this is made in China. I plan on handwashing everything instead of using a dishwasher to help ensure the product's longevity. Overall, I'm really happy with the product. Recommended. EDIT 01/2025: I just noticed the basket has its own max fill line that is separate from the max fill line on the frying container. The max fill line on the basket sits higher than the one in the frying container. Seems like there are separate max fill limits depending on whether or not you're using the basket. Product still works great. EDIT 05/2026: I tried filling oil to the max fill line on the basket instead of the max fill line on the container for the first time. When the oil drained, it overfilled the container for the filtered oil and spilled quite a bit onto my countertop. If you want to use the drain function, seems that you can only fill oil to the max fill line on the container. Deep fryer still works great.

Good!
I chose this fryer over other brands mainly because the design and overall build quality look better and more refined. The style is clean, modern, and slightly fancy, and the fully stainless steel interior and basket give it a more premium feel compared to many similar fryers. The fryer also comes with an oil drain / oil filtering feature, but I personally did not use it. I had read some reviews mentioning possible oil leakage, so I chose not to use that function. Filtering the oil manually works just fine for me. I think if the manufacturer removes this feature in the future, it could help reduce cost and make the product more affordable โ a win-win. Regarding temperature, the maximum setting is labeled as 385ยฐF, but when measured with an external thermometer, the oil temperature reached around 365ยฐF in actual use. That said, as shown in the photo, it still fries very well โ my fried dough came out crispy and evenly cooked. After some consideration, I decided to keep the fryer because it meets my frying needs, and I genuinely like the design and perceived quality. I also purchased it during Black Friday, so the price was a great deal. Overall, a solid fryer with a nice balance of design, quality, and functionality for home use.

Great Appliance - We'll See How Eash To Keep Clean
I just used my new AllClad deep fryer last night, first time, for a small batch of steak fries. The unit is built well, very sturdy. It worked fine, as expected. I'll know more and update this review after attempting something larger such as wings. The magnetic cord, which some people were concerned about, is better than the cheaper units, i,e., it holds to unit better/doesn't fall off so easily. The skin of this machine is beautiful - looks commercial grade. My only initial and minor issues are that the digital timer is not backlit so hard to see numbers AND the temperature setting marks are hard to see if not directly under light (I set mine on the stove below the exhaust hood). I looks like it's going to be much easier to keep clean than the cheap units I've had (which I've actually just thrown away because they became so coated with nearly impossible to remove grease). Otherwise, this looks to be a great appliance and worth the money.

It's OK
First, this is a good looking unit based on a common design. It has better side handles and is put together properly for a unit at this price point. Will it work? Mostly. They designed some nice features: stainless parts and an attractive look, easy to use, easy to take apart to clean, easy to strain & drain oil into a catch pan in the bottom. I'm not fond of the magnetic power cord, but it's not a big deal. The cord is short, so be sure you have an outlet very close by. The ease of draining oil and clean up are nice features. Some things will cook fine, but you really need to do very small batches. I checked temp with a separate thermometer. The control panel temp setting is not very accurate, but is reasonably close on mine. The problem you must account for id recovery time. If your oil is at 375F and you put room temp fries in, the temp will drop dramatically to about 275F. The 117vac heater just isn't powerful enough to keep the temp high or come back up to temp quickly. It took minutes to get back to 375F. On mine, maxing the temp gets the oil up to 405F, which seems to work better. The temp will drop to 290F, then rise a bit, but never fully recovers. Fries are better, but can still be too oily because they didn't sear the outside as well as a pro fryer does. Fish will work well. Chicken is OK, but still a bit oily. The oil catch pan works, but beware, it is plastic and the edges aren't welded/glued. Make sure you keep the drain pan flat or you will have a huge mess. Also be careful not to overfill the fryer....the extra oil will not fit in the pan! If you work in very small batches it will help keep the oil temp from dropping too far, and results are better. Setting the initial temp 50 degrees higher seemed to give me better results. I generally use peanut oil. Last, be careful! The vent for moisture is right in front of the controls. The steam will scald your bare hand and do NOT have the vent under a cabinet. The short cord can make this difficult for some. For the price point, it's a decent unit, just don't expect the performance of a higher end deep fryer. 117vac is not going compete against the 240vac or even gas fryers.

BEWARE OF THIS LEAKING NIGHTMARE!
I received this fryer the other day. I breaded some shrimp and fried them for 4 minutes at 360 degrees. They came out golden brown and they were delicious. Fantastic! After it cooled I drained the oil into the reservoir tank. Since the fryer is in my backyard patio I carried the tank into the house so the oil wouldn't be subjected to the desert heat. This morning I discovered that oil had leaked out and onto my concrete patio floor, my dining table and my kitchen floor. Basically everywhere I walked with it. I cannot see or tell exactly where the leaks are coming from. This is my first experience with home frying. I did not fully understand the nature of frying oil. If not contained perfectly it will spread everywhere. It will seep through invisible cracks in the seams of the tanks. Once out it spreads everywhere. I got it on my shoes and I tracked it around. Cleaning it is not easy. When I tred to wipe it, it just smeared around. The only way is to blot it with towels and then use soapy water or solvent to completely remove it. I have not been able to finish cleaning everything yet. If you are one of those people who doesn't mind this kind of mess or endless cleaning then I can report that it made excellent shrimp. I am too organized and too much of a clean-freak to put up with this. The company that manufactures this fryer has failed at the most important requirement for a machine that is in the home. I can't believe that they aren't aware of their failure. But they continue to market it as, "Clean" and, "Easy". That is a lie. You've been warned!

Smart oil filtration idea, but some design quirks (and a temp mismatch on mine)
I wanted to love this All-Clad deep fryer because the oil filtration/storage concept is genuinely great, but I ran into a handful of practical issues in real use. It can make frying at home easier, yet the pouring/drain setup and a temperature inconsistency on my unit knocked it down for me. What I liked The oil filtration + storage concept is the standout feature โ reusing oil is much less messy than the typical โstrain it into a jarโ routine. The overall unit feels solid and premium with stainless construction and a stable base. Temperature control is simple to set, and the locking lid/cool-touch areas make it feel safer than open-pot frying. A lot of components being dishwasher safe helps with cleanup. What could be better The lid/oil container design is a little sketchy when pouring. On mine, the lid basically just sits on the lower oil box, so when you pour oil out you need to hold it firmly and pour dead-center โ otherwise it can shift and you can end up with oil where you donโt want it. The basket is shallow. If you fill oil to the max line, you may not fully submerge some foods. You can add more oil (thereโs room), but then you have to remember you did that โ because when you drain/filter, the lower reservoir can only hold up to what the โmaxโ system is designed for. Temperature spec inconsistency: the written range says 300โ375ยฐF, but one of the product graphics shows 385ยฐF max. My unit also seemed to top out around ~350ยฐF, which affected how quickly it recovered between batches. The heating element has metal bars that sit against the inner oil vessel, and they can scratch the vessel during normal use/handling. When washing the oil vessel, thereโs a drain mechanism on the bottom. Itโs easy to forget itโs there, and the underside has parts you donโt want to grab carelessly โ itโs a โpay attention while washingโ design, not a smooth, simple pot. Overall the oil filtration system is a genuinely smart idea and the fryer feels well-built, but the lid/pouring design, shallow basket, and the temperature mismatch/heating behavior on my unit make this harder to recommend at this price unless youโre okay working around its quirks.

Best fryer ever, clean up is so easy!
My son is absolutely addicted to french fries, and since he's a picky eater and that's just about all he'll reliably eat I end up cooking them a few times a week at least. This fryer does a pretty great job on them and can cook two servings of fries in its basket, although more than that would probably be overcrowding and they wouldn't cook as well. It heats up reasonably quickly (far more quickly than a dutch oven on a stove top) and even when I add very cold fries it still either maintains its temperature or very quickly returns to temperature. However, by FAR the best feature of this fryer is how easy it is to clean up. You just turn the lever to "automatic oil filtration" and then walk away, and the oil is filtered and stored for you. The filtration is pretty good; I'll easily get a couple of weeks worth of regular frying out of a single batch of oil although it depends on what I fry, since some things get the oil a lot dirtier than others. Once it's drained, literally everything except the heating element can get wiped down and put in the dishwasher. This fryer could not possibly be any easier to clean up. There are only a few negative things about this fryer, none of which are really a big deal. The biggest complaint I have is that the timer isn't great. It works fine, but as far as I can tell you can't cancel it or change it once it's set, so if you're using it then hopefully you set the correct time the first time or you'll have to wait for it to go off before you can change it (if there's a way to do that then I haven't found it yet). Also, the magnetic plug does tend to fall out rather easily if it's jostled at all but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. As I mentioned, I wish that the overall temperature range was greater as it tops out at around 385 degrees, but that's still plenty hot for most things. The last negative is that the vent on the top cover is towards the back of the unit, so any condensation as it's cooking will come out closer to the walls. This means that if it's even slightly under any cabinets, then those cabinets are going to get saturated with steam so you really need to use this somewhere with nothing overhead. One thing to watch out for also is that the oil storage container's top comes off easily, so if you aren't careful when you're pouring it you could end up with the top falling off and spilling oil everywhere. Just hold it together with your hand as you're pouring and it'll be fine.

So many bad design choices, don't buy it
I wish I could rate lower. Both the design and contact with the support team shows the direct intent and lack of knowledge. First up the depth doesn't matter, the max fill line gives you a frying depth of 2.5 cm( 1 inch) which isn't enough to submerge a lot of foods example the drumlett of the average chicken wing can be higher than that. And remember that is the MAX you can put in, why because they believe any more and the oil might rise roughly 10 cm (4 inch) and bubble over the top, they expect the oil to expand by 400%. But that's the max so what's the min, well that's half the height so 1.25 cm (1/2 inch) still sound like deep frying? Their response to this, it's designed that way to limit overflow and it rises when you put things in, that won't happen with a lot of things you fry just based on dimensions. They also cited no existent code when talking to me about the device. The power cord is oddly made pointing up limiting placement, the lid isn't designed to account for the basket sitting at the top and the filter grates on the lid are basically decorative given how large the gap in the mesh is. This 100% is a device to make you think deep frying isn't worth it or an over priced fryer for people who just want to make fries. Any decent fryer can maintain temperature the designer's of this (and other all clad products) don't understand the actual cooking in the kitchen part of their kitchen appliances.
