Do you need this? Thats a resounding no.Does it work? Kind of..The thing with this is that its very finicky.It will only work on SOME surfaces, and only cover SOME inks/texts.As previous reviewers have mentioned, it does not work on smooth shiny surfaces, and only work on standard printer paper types.It also does not always opaquely cover all text (you can still see the original text through the ink under a certain angle).I personally believe that it sometimes fails to cover txt fully for the same reason that it does not work on shiny surfaces. So if the text youre trying to cover is printed with an ink that has a slightly raised surface or is slightly shiny, or is not a fully water based ink, but something more similar to acrylic that coats the paper rather than sink in to it (youd be surprised how often this type of ink is used; often for bank statements and other important documents), this will not work. on top of that.Since this is so finicky and only works about 20% - 40% of the time, youd still need a shredder for those may other times that this does not work.In which case, I dont even see the point. You might as well just get a shredder that works 99% of the time instead of having and shredder AND this.

Don’t waste your money. I bought this to cover mailing labels, only works on plain paper and that is dependent on the type of ink the sender used. I was hopeful this would eliminate the need to cut every label but alas I still need my scissors and shredder.

I really like this device. I do not like to shred, shredded are loud, takes lots of electricity, you have to have space for the shredder and the shred dust flys around. Plus putting shred in a recycling bin, they do not like you to use plastic bags. With this you just cover up your info with ink. And put it in the recycling bin with the other paper. Good for box labels too that are hard to remove. The ink dries within minutes. It is the roller width of an average envelope address. Not sure about ink refilling on this one. Probably leak less if it is fully sealed and it is pocket size. It is really handy. Especially good also if you are traveling.

I've only had this roller a couple of months, and I haven't used it heavily. But already it's not leaving an even strip of ink, and sometimes I'll have to go back and forth over an area to cover it. Not sure if that means it's already running out of ink or if it's just a poorly made roller. Either way, I expect it to need a replacement soon, which raises a question about the economics. If you buy a $25 shredder, it could last for years without issue. These types of rollers start at about $8 each, so if they need to be replaced every few months, they're not really a good value in the long run.

You can see through the ink. Doesn't serve the purpose it it meant to serve.

This rarely works effectively, and the ink has run out very quickly (and we haven't used it a whole lot). Our experience is that it more so highlights "There is sensitive information right here that we do not want you to see". In using it 50+ times, I would say there have only been 5-10 times that you could not read the text under. Very disappointing.

This roller stamp is very easy to use. Just roll it on whatever you want to hide. As you can see in the picture, it hides my name and address. Works best on plain paper. Might smear if used with glossy type paper. Its always best to shred, but this is perfect for that one or two pages that have some personal information on it.

I am giving this product 3 stars because it's a great concept and may work well for some people, but I tried using it and I could still read the text underneath due to different shades of black. I will carry on using my shredder.
