The fine mesh subs for other filter types
I was glad to find fine mess stainless sieves. I wanted fine filtering but didn't really want to mess with cheesecloth. This does a passable job for things like filtering melted beef fat to make tallow. I'd probably even go for an even finer mesh at some point.

Great little strainer.
I bought this for a specific job. Iโm a two cup of coffee guy and I use a French press. After the second cup I place an unbleached piece of pre-used paper towel dump the grinds into the strainer. And clean everything while the coffe drains. I mulch the grounds. Easy clean up durable strainer, blanched sugar snaps. The strainer fits in the drain pour them in. Gnocchi easy peasy. The strainer fits in the pot and you can scoop them right up. Itโs easy to clean. I highly recommend!

Sturdy, well-made, not too heavy
Great for straining stocks. Main issues are it's a little hard to clean, especially where the mesh meets the rim, and the extension opposite the handle does not have enough of a hook to allow use with larger pots. It can slip and fall into a big pot, but is too tall to fit in most smaller pots. Best for use with relatively tall pots, like stock pots.

Works Great for Straining Yogurt
I bought this strainer for one purpose only, to strain homemade yogurt. It does let a bit of solids through at the start, but very minimal. After that, only whey comes through. Fits a half gallon batch. Easy to empty and a breeze to clean, just rinse and put in dishwasher. Amazon ships this in an envelope for some reason and the first one arrived smashed down, but I got a replacement quickly. Yogurt making just got easier! Update: You will have to find the right amount of time to get your yogurt thick enough so it doesn't run through the strainer. We find 12 hours in incubation/culture process is sufficient. We've accidently poured yogurt into strainer after 11 hours and too much solids went through the strainer. Update: After a few more years of yogurt making experience, we've found the right combination culturing temperature and time. We now culture for 8 hours and then pour through this strainer. We lose almost no solids. I upped my rating to 5 stars, this is a game changer for yogurt making.

good strainer
Fine enough for 'most anything, big enough for quantity, shaped well for smaller amounts. The closest replacement for Grandma's old strainer, over a century in age, but made of better, modern stuff. If you need one, this will do good service.

Sturdy Handle & Durable Mesh
This strainer has some great features. The handle length is great to place over a bowl, or to simply hold. Durable mesh has not shown any wear, and I have used it a lot, mostly to strain curds and pastry cream, which involves pressing through with a spatula at times. I have bought this for other people, and gifted it as well.

Works well for straining stock
I needed this product mainly for straining stock. It doesn't seem as sturdy as the china caps I used to use in commercial kitchens and it certainly lacks the same capacity. As such, instead of dumping large quantities of stock in bones and all I find it easier to strain with a colander first then strain the liquid with the chinois. The result is great clarity on the final product.

Great, even for out of the box uses
I don't use this in the kitchen. I use it making compost tea. I add compost to a bucket of water and strain the solids later. This allows us to apply through our irrigation system.
