Endurance: The Discovery of Shackleton's Legendary Ship

Arrived quickly, in excellent condition. The book itself is very nice. The layout and photographs are typical top-shelf National Geographic quality. Makes for a gorgeous coffee-table book. The story is true, almost unbelievable, heroic and inspiring. I've known about Shackleford's attempt to cross the Antarctic, and the loss of the Endurance in the process for a number of years. I'd hoped to get a DVD copy of the Nat Geo video production, but it's not available to mortals like me. This is the next best thing. To actually SEE the ship in it's resting place, and the process it took to locate it is the culmination of many attempts over many years. It's an amazing story of determination, honor, trust and the will to survive in the harshest conditions imaginable. If you're looking for an incredible story for sheer reading pleasure OR if a young person has a book report to do, THIS may not only fill those needs, but could start the journey for a young person to become a regular reader. Yeah, it's that good.

Bought this for a gift. He’s a history buff and not only enjoyed the read, but the pictures are pretty amazing as well!

I was looking for more details about the modern-day expedition to find Shackleton's ship, and this book delivers in droves. The photos are absolutely stunning, and the authors go to great lengths to share all the ups and downs of the expedition. There is a stunning, fold-out map of the Endurance wreck that I could stare at for hours. If you liked the NG film Endurance and want to know more about the search for the ship itself, this is a must-have for your library.
