Fast cool down, low noise, portable refrigeration solution!
I purchased this for a July 4 holiday trip in 2026 during a heatwave in the southern U.S. I let it sit for 24 hours as it was delivered sideways. When I plugged it into the wall socket for the first time, my apartment was set at 78 degrees. This unit registered the temp as 77. I set it to 33, and it reached this internal temp in 15 minutes with nothing inside. I tossed in a couple of soda cans, and checked back after an hour, and they were perfectly chilled. I then threw in some other items such as fresh cut fruit, water bottles, and sandwiches. Transferred it from the wall outlet to the 12V outlet in my vehicle, then drove 4 hours. When I arrived at my destination, all items were still cold, and a thin layer of ice had even formed on the upper walls. From here, I transferred the unit into a hotel room, and switched back to AC power. It maybe lost 3 degrees while unplugged, but it held just fine, and when plugged back up, again, returned to set temp in under 15 minutes. What sold me was the performance on day 2 of the trip. I transferred all items into a separate cooler with bag ice to keep in the hotel room, leaving this empty and set at 33 degrees running on 12V power in the vehicle as I toured the town. I bought some supplies, mostly canned sodas, a couple of sandwiches, and fresh fruit again. Then I parked and took a 4 hour tour in 106 degree heat. As the vehicle was off, the unit was not powered, as I did not purchase the internal battery unit. Instead, I plugged into the 12V port of a jump pack (Duracell Powerpack Pro 1100), and left it running on 33 degrees in the vehicle. When I returned, the display showed the E1 error code. The jump pack showed a battery level of 50%. I had the refrigeration unit set on the M mode for battery consumption, so this appears to have cut off at the proper time. I then plugged it back into the 12V of the vehicle and started the engine. The display showed an internal temp of 47. A 15 minute drive back to the hotel room showed the unit once again at 33 degrees. From there, it was a simple matter of plugging it back into AC power in the room, where it remained for 2 days. It never missed a beat. This purchase has changed the way I travel! I never had to use an ice pack. It's light enough, I can carry it up stairs without fear of sloshing water everywhere. Items inside remain cool despite punishing heat wave temperatures. It also completely replaced the standard "dorm fridge" normally found in hotels. The hotel room fridge was either turned off or not working. With this running in the corner as the primary refrigeration device, and transferring chilled items into the ice bag cooler, I never had to worry about dehydration or lukewarm items. This survived a 4 day trip through various items, vehicles, stairways, hotel rooms, and blistering temperatures. I couldn't be happier. I haven't tested it with bag ice, or ice blocks yet, but I don't think I need to since I use it mainly as a primary chilling device instead of an actual cooler. Once the items are chilled, I just rotate them to the bag ice cooler, and replace the chilled items with room temperature ones. This setup worked extremely well for my needs. A solid buy for the price. I got the 23 quart, and it fit perfectly in the back of my SUV. Anything bigger, I don't think I would have been able to carry up stairs confidently. Highly recommended for the convenience and performance!

Great seller, great product, glad I made the purchase.
After looking at different brands I decided to purchase the BougeRV 12volt, 23 quart Refrigerator and make the break from using a cooler with ice. BougeRV is a great seller and their web site offers many different products. My 23 quart 12V refrigerator shipped promptly and I received it in perfect condition. It was packaged very well for shipping and included an easy to read manual, the power cord for a standard wall outlet as well as an adapter for a 12v car outlet. As per the instructions, I let it sit for 24 hours before turning it on. It took less than 20 minutes to reach 32 degrees and when ever I adjusted the temperature, it reacted quickly. The controls and display are easy to read and operate plus they are located on the top where they are easy to access. The fridge doesn’t weigh much (empty) and it has rubber feet that prevent it from sliding around. That is great for when you are traveling. It’s compact size allows me to place it where I want in my small camper or in the rear seat of my truck. As I planned on running my 12V refrigerator with a portable power station and a 100 watt solar panel, I was concerned about power consumption. What drew me to the BougeRV 12 volt refrigerator was how low the power draw is in ECO mode. It only draws 45 watts in regular power mode and in ECO mode it draws 36 watts. In ECO mode my food remains at my set temperature and the refrigerator doesn't seem to cycle as much as I thought it would. It is sitting next to my chair and it is so quiet that I keep forgetting that it is running. Since it will be in my camper I am not concerned about it making noise while I sleep. How much you can place into the 23 quart compartment will depend on what you pack and the containers you place your food in. One thing to remember is that even if the compartment looks smaller that the cooler you may have been using, there really is more room because you don't lose cooler space to ice blocks or cubes. Also, not having to worry about your food getting wet due to melting ice is great. I filled the fridge with food to test it and one thing that I noticed is that the food near the top was as cold as the food on the bottom. I used to worry about meats or food near the top of the cooler becoming too warm if they were not close to the ice blocks on the bottom or covered with ice. Now that is no longer an issue and that's a huge win for this 12v refrigerator. You can also use this as a freezer if you so desire. Over all I am very pleased with my purchase. I will update my review after using it while camping.

Industrial-Grade Performance — In Whatever Color You Need
After putting the BougeRV CR22 through a rigorous 24-hour shakedown, it’s clear this unit is built for utility, not just aesthetics. And let’s be clear: even if you’re picking up the ‘fashion-forward’ color models to match your gear, you’re getting the same high-performance internals as the industrial gray version. The build quality is apparent the moment you open the lid. The distinct suction confirms a high-integrity seal that prevents cold-air leakage —— your biggest enemy in mobile cooling. In my ‘pulldown’ test, the unit moved from a 70°F ambient temperature to a food-safe 36°F in under an hour, demonstrating that this is a legitimate compressor-based refrigeration system, not a thermoelectric toy. My testing confirmed a rock-solid ‘Cold Zone’ at the bottom of the chamber, holding a stable 35.5°F–37.5°F after stabilization. What impressed me most was the efficiency and electrical behavior. With an idle draw of just 0.6W and a running draw of only 43.5W, it is incredibly easy on my portable power banks. The compressor features a ‘soft-start’ curve that eliminates the high-amperage spikes common in cheaper units, making it perfectly safe for use with standard 12V automotive ports or LFP power stations like my Bluetti AC70 and EcoFlow River 2 Max. I deliberately chose two of my smaller LFP batteries because those are more likely to be used on a trip than my larger and heavier ones. The build quality is industrial-first—boxy and high-seal integrity. If you’re looking to build a reliable, quantified cold-chain for long-haul travel or off-grid utility, this is a genuine piece of professional-grade infrastructure, regardless of the color you choose.

Best Camp Upgrade This Year!
So glad I purchased this - works well for camping AND for transporting groceries home when you live 45 min from the store! Very easy to use; controls are super simple. Cools down quickly and maintains temp well! Size is perfect for my solo camps.

Close to perfect, but a few flaws
This fridge reliably kept our stuff cold for a three day weekend with temps in the high 90s. It was run from a Ecoflow River 3 Plus power station and usually used 30-45 watts when the compressor was running. We did have to top up the power station with solar and car DC, but that’s because our power station was undersized for the task. It did easily make it through the night unattended, which was what we needed. A couple of times we did run out of power while we were learning how to handle our power station and the cooler jumped up to 50-60 degrees very quickly, so that tells me it’s not very well insulated. I will say that the designers slightly missed the mark when charting the interior dimensions. With just a few extra millimeters of height this could easily hold 30 12oz cans. Instead, if you try to stack two layers of 15 cans as shown in the photo, the lid just barely won’t shut all the way. So frustrating! Laying cans on their sides yields a capacity of 25 cans. I was never able to figure out how to get the claimed 28 cans. I think it’s not possible. With just a couple extra inches it could have held 40 cans, which would have been amazing. The thermostat is off by about 5-10 degrees so I recommend you bring some sort of thermometer to make sure you get the temps you need. I wish there was a way to calibrate the temps like some other brands offer. Another flaw I found was that the case is not molded accurately and the entire cooler rocks corner to corner when laying on a flat surface. This causes it to vibrate excessively and become very loud. Testing at home before our trip, the cooler shook the whole kitchen and was significantly louder than our full size fridge. I ended up adding a small felt furniture foot to one corner, which stopped the rocking vibrations. At our camp and in our car, the noise was very reasonable. Overall, with the price I paid on the Prime Day sale, I’m pleased with this unit. It’s a good size for taking a case of beer or soda to the lake, or a small picnic, but probably won’t be large enough for a family weekend with food and drinks. If you have available power to keep this running it sure beats ice in so many ways. The best thing is, you can keep adding warm cans and it keeps chilling them. Try that with ice and see how long your trip lasts!

Must Have For Travelers!
As a travel nurse, I drive to all of my contract locations and I carry medication that needs to be refrigerated, not to mention drinks and snacks so I’m not pulling off to find something to drink or eat. I also stay in many locations that only have a dorm sized fridge and many don’t have freezers. This little car fridge goes with me everywhere and it’s saved me tons of money and keeps my food frozen when I don’t have a freezer. I love that I can plug it in both indoors and in my car. I’ve had to leave it in my car overnight when I’m on the road to a contract and it only loses a couple of degrees by the next morning. Absolutely LOVE it!

Surprisingly Quiet and Cools Fast
Very impressed with this portable fridge! The startup sound is very smooth, quiet, and comfortable — the quality feels excellent. The door has a strong seal and closes securely, which helps keep the temperature stable. The capacity is just the right size, making it very practical and friendly for portable use. Perfect for road trips, shopping, and everyday use. Highly recommended!

Kept my insulin cold!!!! Never worried about it going bad!
Im type 1 diabetic and I bought this to take my insulin with me on vacation. I have tried so many different options I have the Frío, the frozen ice pack coolers which’s great for going to the park etc, but not for long trips. I plugged the cooler in 24 before leaving - so it was nice a cold when connecting it in my SUV.I had no issues with my insulin. It did not freeze and I had no worries of my insulin going bad. It gave the same results as being plugged in the house when I plugged in my SUV usb port for 30 hours- total of 60 hours round trip. It comes with a connection for home use and for car use! Definitely worth the money spent. Can’t comment of the battery life as it did not work unless it’s plugged in. Maybe I missed the directions how to use it on battery mode only. And of course I bought the pink one love the color.

Excelente producto!

Cools fast and won't kill my battery
Great size and weight.. for me and what I do..cools fast and has a battery saver so it wont kill my battery..I had it down to -19 in the house I tested it with digital thermometer it is actually 2 degrees colder than the indicator light .. apparently you can calibrate it if it bothers me . I leave mine at 5C .. it stays running while I get my frozen veggies and meat that I'm concerned about driving 40 min when it's hot out .. now if I wanna make another stop it doesn't matter food stays cold . Nice looking machine ,easy to operate. I bought the protective case mainly to keep it clean in the back of the suv .. great price and great unit .. these guys use a dependable compressor and are known to be very durable. I really like it ! For the price it's a great unit ..

Have convinced many others to buy just by owning it!
I have a Dodge Grand Caravan camper conversion and my husband built slide-out drawers/bed conversion. So we had a fixed height and I realised my old cooler was not going to cut it. I struggled to find a low profile real fridge and just could not believe the price of an actual real fridge/freezer with precise temperature control. Unreal. The build is great quality, handle grips make it easy to manoeuvre, the imprinted instructions on the lid mean you are never left trying to remember what each control is for. While not relevant to the mighty Dodge Grand Caravan, the ability to set a battery max. draw level is supreme too. The hum of the fridge is barely discernible (and I am a light sleeper) and the eco and max modes are just so flexible: use max when you are in a rush to hit the road, and use eco on the road. What I do like is, when you start up the car, it will give one beep to confirm it is connected. When not connected I like the Rocksolar battery system as it is also smaller but powerful. Using reflective window coverings will keep internal temp down and save your battery. This will fit a soy milk carton upright so that's a huge win right there. If you need a low profile yet spacious fridge/freezer this is it. We have a bus conversion and it came with Dometic fridge/freezer and, yes, they are bigger (as is the bus) but we cannot see a difference in quality. Great intuitive and user-friendly settings. P.S. Remember this can ONLY be a fridge OR freezer at any one time. I'm planning on getting a heavy duty non-plug in cooler and moving over everyday food items couple days at a time to the cooler, keeping this as a freezer.
