Plenty of fan blades. With this fan I didn’t have to replace the down rod. The fan this replaced had its receiver in the fan housing. So, house power went straight to the receiver at the motor. This fan also has the receiver at the motor. Caution you really should read and understand the wall mounted controls. It takes a few seconds for the fan to/ light to respond after pressing any button.

Background - I have installed dozens of fans in my various homes over the years and a couple of these "airplane propeller" type fans recently. Got this to install during a newly renovated office in my home. My thoughts:This moves a lot of air! Which is great. Even the lowest setting, you feel the breeze. And you can rev it up to 11(sic) and I'm somewhat amazed that it remains perfectly balanced!It's very light weight, which reduces stress on the ceiling and seems to hold balance better at all speeds, which is great.The remote allows me to change settings from the comfort of my desk chair (... assuming the remote is at hand, batteries aren't dead, handheld hasn't failed because of battery corrosion, etc.)The design of this remote is pleasantly simple. Especially to reverse directions every fall and spring.And, if your house isn't properly wired for a fan switch, the remote kinda solves that.What I don't love about this design: I still prefer analog switches on the wall. Remotes like this, whether for the TV or anything else, eventually get lost or fail especially if used infrequently and the battery terminals corrode. Frustrating. Hope that doesn't happen here or that I can get a replacement when the time comes.The blades are plastic which, for an outdoor application in the deep south especially, is great because they don't "wilt" on the porch after a summer, so tempting to get two more for that application.Even though it's not operable just from a wall switch, e.g. without the remote-control-only configuration, I'm still giving it a 5. As the days have been heating up, even up to '3' speed is plenty of movement, and I'm coming to appreciate this quiet, powerful fan more each day.

No problems with installation, however the fan is not designed well to feel any air flow. We had this in our workshop with 20' ceilings. We ordered 2 of these fans - with both on at full speed there was very little air movement. Very dissatisfied. Will definitely return. We ordered another 96" fan with 8 blades and installed in the place of one of these and felt a difference.
