I had two options... I choose a roomba or this Dyson vacuum. I chose this vacuum and I am glad I did. It works so much better than any other vaccum i had before. Let me tell you why: Suction: Great, one of the heads have a detangler which is awesome because your hair or your pets hair wont clog the roller brush. Which Roomba does not have. So less roller brush repair on our end if you use this vacuum. You can change from minimal to maximum speed. Portability: Tired of carrying the wire as you vacuum the rooms? No problem! This thing is wireless! You can vacuum wherever and whenver you want! Bedroom? Yes. Kitchen? Yes. Bathroom? Yes. Living Room? Yes. Ceiling? Why not! Power: Rechargeable. What else can I say? It's portability is based on its rechargability! Storage: Its versatile, you can store on the wall with its wall thing or you can break it down to the original form w/o the attachments and put it in a cabinet. It's a very light item, probably weighs 2 or 3 pounds. Containment: No clogging, just go over a garbage can, pull the trash lever, and tada- bottom lid opens to dump the debris. Due to hair being hair, you might need gloves to pull the rest of the debris out but that should'nt be a problem. The vacuum, that I observed, has a 3-part-filter system. One for the container, two the for air intake, and three for the air outtake. Overall: 5 out of 5 Amazon stars.

We have had this for just over a year or so and have loved using it. Pros: It is light weight but still great quality. We wanted something smaller for our small apartment and now that we live in a house we still only use this vacuum. I love that it is cordless so you don't have to keep moving the cord around the house. The "Max" or "Turbo" setting works great as well, I usually use that whenever there is a lot to pick up! It has a bunch of attachments so you can you is for many different things like vacuuming couches, getting into corners, and even your car. Cons: I can only think of two cons. 1) I wish the battery lasted a little bit longer, sometimes I have to take a break and finish vacuuming after it charges. 2) When using the main vacuum attachment, it has problems picking things up in "reverse" (when pulling the vacuum backwards). Just something to keep in mind. Overall, very happy with our purchase!

Edited to add - I’ve changed my review from 2 stars to 1. 4 months after I wrote this review, the vacuum has stopped charging entirely. I can’t do anything to get the charger to engage. Now I have a $400 machine in the back of the closet that’s been sitting dead for a week that I can no longer use and I’m having to shop for a new one. I owned the vacuum for barely over a year. My aunt bought an off-brand stick vac on Amazon for a 1/4 of the price a year before I bought my Dyson and hers is still going strong. I was so excited for this vacuum - I bought it for myself as a push present because I was tired of lugging around my heavy, corded Bissell. At first, all seemed great. My whole house is hardwood and it glided over the floor very easily and picked up almost everything (hair and dust, yes - small leaves, bits of food, basically anything that isn't flat like hair... no). We have a couple very thin rugs in the kitchen with NO ply - this vacuum will do the rugs, but only if you go backwards. If you go forwards the brush stops rolling and it won't suck up anything. Not the end of the world but just slightly annoying. We have a German Shepherd who loves to lay against the couch and she sheds a LOT. This thing is pretty useless against her pet hair on the fabric couch. After several passes with multiple attachments and using both speeds, it hardly makes a dent in the hair. I get better luck getting it out with my little Bissell dirt vac. The main floor of my house is VERY small, under 1000 sq ft, and the fully charged battery won't last on the high setting and dies before I can finish doing the whole floor. The high setting is great but if you can only use it for a couple minutes and then need to plug it in again it doesn't do much good. It would be nice if this thing had a switch or button that just kept it ON while you are using it, instead of having to hold down the trigger the entire time. After a while my hand does start to get pretty sore. Like others have said, this thing is pretty noisy. The low setting isn't too bad and I can use it while my baby naps, but the high setting SCREAMS. It feels unnecessarily loud. I've seen other off-brand knock offs that have a light that shines on the floor while you're using it; I didn't realize how handy that would be. Also, after 8 months of owning it, we have a very hard time getting this to charge. Not sure if it's a problem the charging cord itself or some component inside the motor, but when you plug in the charger it doesn't engage. I have to wiggle the cord every which direction, pull high/low, to try to get the charging started, and then cross my fingers that when I slowly let go of the cord and walk away that it stays charging. Doesn't do much good when half the time it's dead and I can't get it charged. All in all, the suction is good and straight forward and the vac pivots good on smooth floors, but I wouldn't recommend this and I'm disappointed with this purchase.

I love the lightweight convenience of having this handy little vacuum at the ready at all times. We are often and visited by our granddog in our room and he sheds a lot! battery life 😨 s short on max power. Having the availability of multiple batteries may be helpful. This unit has one attached battery. however just plug it in when you're done after letting it rest for a while and get after it the next day. I use it everyday for n my small area ( carpet)and I am amazed about how much dust dirt and dog hair that I get even after constant vacuuming. Works on the laminate and tile also. I have noticed my husband (who has asthma) is sneezing and coughing a lot less since I bought this unit and have begun to use it on a daily basis. I purchased a whole bunch of other accessories to go with it so that I can clean small areas Windows drawers etc and I am looking forward to seeing how that does. Overall don't waste your money on the cheap ones get something good, like this unit. Love it! ***Update*** awesome for vacuuming out my car too!! Used my accessories that I purchased to go with this unit. The flexible hose and brush/crevice tool made it so easy! No cords to wrangle! It's lightweight design makes it easy on an old lady like myself! * Side note* this unit must have the trigger depressed manually while using, so that requires two hands whilst car vacuuming. I believe this feature/ design was meant to conserve battery life during use. I read that there's an attachment available for keeping the trigger depressed constantly. I bought this Dyson V8 stick vacuum after my Electrolux disappointed me after 1 year of gentle use on hardwood floors and area rugs. The retail price of both of these are comparable. I took a long time to shop for a new stick vacuum that will last with gentle daily use, unlike the Electrolux. So far this Dyson is amazing, well made, and cleans like a beast. I used this vacuum to clean my entire house on hardwood floors and both low pile area rugs and a large shag area rug. My house has three levels and I was able to deep clean my whole house, including vacuuming my furniture, and I still had 2 bars out of three on the battery. My Electrolux doesn't hold a candle to this. I would use the Electrolux and was out of battery in 20 minutes and had lug my upright around. This Dyson is more than adequate to use as a main vacuum and the suction power is impressive. This vacuum was very easy to assemble and is also light weight and easy to maneuver and carry up and down stairs. The latch locks on the attachments are sturdy and don't break off easily, unlike the Electrolux which broke a latch off in the first 2 weeks. I love the tangle free roller and the pet attachment, which makes my furniture look beautiful. The things I miss on this vacuum are, no dirt finding lights on the floor attachment, and the trigger style "on switch" needs to be held down while using. The dirt cup is also awkward to empty and doesn't come off, so you have to open the dirt cup door and pull up on the top of the dirt cup to empty it over the trash can, then pull out hair etc., which gets stuck inside. That said, the trigger style "on switch" is placed in a ergonomic position and doesn't cause any fatigue in my hand, so once I got used to it it isn't bad. I can also live without the dirt finding lights. The dirt cup is the only thing I would change about the design of the vacuum, but overall the pros far out weigh the cons and so far I'm loving this amazing stick vac. I also didn't want to drill holes in my wall for the charging port so I bought a stand for it that accommodates this vacuum and it hold all the tools too and doesn't look unsightly in my entryway. I highly recommend this vacuum. Don't let the bad reviews about battery life dissuade you from buying this. The price is great so go for it and buy it!

Great vacuum cleaner. It's lightweight. Easy to use. I like the attachments and how easily to converts to a handheld vacuum. The suction is outstanding. Here is what I absolutely hate about it and what ruins everything else for me: the battery life. It lasts so little. Especially if you use the turbo option. It lasts less than 30 minutes. It's super disruptive when cleaning and you're stuck waiting for it to charge so you can continue using it. I have heard the Dyson V15's battery life is way better. I wish I would've gotten that instead. I know it's more expensive. It's a huge disappointment because this vacuum is not cheap. It's several hundred dollars. And I think it's so disrespectful to the consumer spending all this money on a vacuum cleaner for us to not be able to fully use it as intended because the manufacturer couldn't produce a better battery. Having to stop and recharge every 20 to 30 minutes is a joke. I'll be returning it.

I bought the DYSON V8 in Nov ...did not unpack and assemble it until Jan! I will never do that again, that is, wait that long. i wish I could return or exchange this! The first item I ordered was a Dyson air humidifier, what a disappointment...it was leaking everywhere and the timer would not work...so I sent that thing back and replaced it with LEVOIT. !. Motor is powerful I love that, that's where their strength begins and ends. 2. Heavy airstream is flowing out ,as if it were a portable fan, from where the Hepa white paper filter sits inside a purple plastic housing. It's leaking through the crevices, even though the plastic piece is twisted on correctly and on tight. 3. The battery only lasts one hour on normal mode with small bursts of Max mode used as needed. 4. The housing is all built of inexpensive plastic...I can't see this thin plastic (not even sure if it is ABS plastic) being durable for years! Looks and feels crackable. 5. It is lightweight, that's a plus, and does not take up much storage space. 6. The dirt compartment is small! Easy to dump out but the red release tab has to be pulled upwards aggressively, so I figure eventually that will break too. 7. Once battery is fully depleted, charging time is almost 3 hours...that's not great. 8. Easy to assemble...nice because I detest puzzles. 8. CREAKING sound coming from BOTH the hand held roller attachment and the larger everyday use roller part. Goodness. 9. Top HEAVY! Not good for those with arthritis in the hand joints. The only thing I love about DYSON are their hairdryers, which I own. I can't exactly recommend this particular modle of DYSON vacuum, perhaps they offer a higher quality model that I have yet to try. I'm not really excited about this V8's build quality and cheap plastic materials. I do not think this is a value for my money, i think it is horribly overpriced. I can almost hear the DYSON execs laughing all the way to the bank....I am no fool mister, but this one is on me. I call this the magic wand, despite the fact a very different product has appropriated that name. My needs aren’t great, the house rarely gets very dirty. I wanted a light weight, cordless vacuum to clean chiefly dog fur on two floors, one wood and tile, the other carpeted. The Dyson V8 Plus does the job easily and swiftly, sucking up all the dog debris, small bits of paper, food scraps, and any other dirt on the floors. It is so much more convenient than using one of those big, cumbersome, corded vacuum cleaners I used to have. I hated lugging these around, especially up and down stairs. Now I can carry the Dyson just in one hand and never worry about plugging and re-plugging the machine. I had some difficulties at the beginning because the Dyson got clogged. It still functioned, but not well: it pulsed, instead of being smooth. Only when I downloaded the manual did I discover the simple solution to my problem, which was to find and remove the blockage in the tube. Then the Dyson worked like magic. The battery doesn’t last very long under heavy usage, so I clean one floor at a time, waiting about two hours between these tasks until the machine recharges. I’m probably too cautious because whenever I finish a floor, I know I still have some leftover power. It’s not quiet but nor is it especially noisy – and it works so well I can’t complain.

The hairscrew tool is shown to be included in this set and that is why I bought this set for my pets hair problem but that specific tool is not included and will be returning the complete set.

The Dyson V8 Plus Cordless Vacuum is powerful, lightweight, and very easy to use. It makes cleaning quick and effortless. On the low power setting, the battery lasts a long time, which is perfect for regular cleaning. The only thing is that on the high power setting, the battery drains very fast. Other than that, I absolutely love this vacuum and highly recommend it.
