Alba Botanica Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen, Water Resistant and Biodegradable, 4 fl. oz. (Pack of 2)

When I I was unable to get the very expensive sunscreen that I typically get through my dermatologist office, the Esthetician they recommended buying Alba. It is considered a mineral sunscreen and supposedly is better for your skin. I use this primarily on my face, neck and chest. It blends in quite quickly, And it’s not greasy. So far I like it just as much as I like the one that I was purchasing for three times the amount of money. I am outside constantly between tennis and a 2 yr old grandchild. So far I have managed to stay sunburn free. I also have been using this on the child. I would definitely reorder.

My family went on vacation in the Caribbean and only used this sunscreen. No-one burned in the hot sun. It literally didn’t budge in the water. Barely reapplied during the day. It’s a little pricey but worth it. It goes on kinda white but fades when rubbed in. It does NOT give that awful purple/white cast like others. I also use it on my face daily with zero irritation or breakouts. And I tend to have sensitive skin.

I bought this as primary face sunscreen since I use retinol and other actives. It has a matte finish to it so it's not greasy at all. Considering it's a mineral sunscreen and will leave a white cast no matter what, it's at least pretty minimal on my darker skin when I rub it in well. It's easy to wash off even when you apply multiple times throughout the day. There is no strong chemical smell like regular sunscreens, but it does smell "minerally". I don't mind this smell considering for me the chemical smell with regular sunscreens makes me so nauseous. Glad I made this purchase.

I have been using this for a year now I tried it first time in Hawaii and it was a great sunblock it was so funny I used it all over my face and neck, wanted to clean the residue on my fingers by wiping it on my leg. My whole leg was tan except where I wiped my fingers! and ever since I start using it on the daily never caused me break out or pimples very good to my skin. Only thing that I would complain about is the very oily finish and the shiny look, but it’s OK. I believe in this product. I wish they can make a matt version of it.

I wish I didn’t buy this product and now I have 2 containers I cannot use. First, it smells rancid. It’s not that I don’t like the scent but it actually smells off. I thought maybe it’s just because it’s unscented so I tried it anyway. The texture is the strangest thing. It doesn’t cover evenly and feels almost (difficult to describe) waxy instead of creamy. It was very white which I didn’t mind because that did fade with time but the worst part is that I immediately started feeling itchy and burning/prickly feeling where I’d applied it!!! I thought maybe I’m ‘imagining’ this feeling because it was thick on my skin but it wouldn’t stop. I decided to try it one more time just to make sure and it was the same the next day and it was exactly the same. So I did a small skin test on my arm later that evening and sure enough it turned red and blotchy where I applied (see pic). I have never had any reaction to other zinc oxide products so I was really surprised. The final thing I’ll mention about this awful product is that when I went to wash it off, it felt like a film was still on my skin, even after washing it twice! I’m so disappointed that I have to throw 2 containers away because I can’t return it now.

Love this sunblock. Mix with a few drops pf jojoba oil to make it spread evenly. 3 star rating due to packaging, which is offensive. Why do I need a sheet of cardboard coated in plastic?

Excellent sunscreen. Protects, doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and natural. I use this sunscreen everyday and especially surfing in Central America. It holds up under extreme sun and ocean time! Great product, great quality, great price. Highly recommend.

This by far is my favorite sunscreen. Not thick to apply & stays on as described being water proof. Nice smelling & easy application.
