Zowie Gear EC2 eVo CL 5 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Optical 2300 dpi Gaming Mouse

I mostly play CS:GO and needed a replacement for my G400. I wanted something with a different shape, yet with just as good performance and accuracy. First I got the Razer DA 2013, and though I liked the overall shape and feel, the right mouse button was overly sensitive for me and I kept right clicking by accident. I also was wary of all the negative reviews in regards to durability. So I read more and more and kept hearing great things about Zowie. Zowie makes two similar mice, the EC1 and EC2, which only differ in size. I first got the EC1. In comparison to the DA, the EC1 felt slightly wider. I liked the weight of the EC1, but it was too wide for my average hands (if you have big hands, the EC1 is great). So I got the EC2 instead. I am still getting used to the weight (it is lighter than the G400 and slightly smaller), but overall am very impressed. This is a great mouse in every way. I first got the regular evo EC2, which was great aside from the mousewheel. The CL series fixes the mousewheel so it is better and easier to scroll. Also, the coating is slightly different. It is similar to the black matte finish on the evo EC2 except it is easier to grip with dry hands. I have sweaty hands, and I find this mouse grips pretty well. In terms of durability, the mouse seems as rock solid as Logitech. There are no drivers/software to use. Everything works plug and play. Highly recommend this mouse. I just wish Amazon had it in stock so I could use Prime shipping. I ordered from 3CWorld, and the package was delivered quite quickly so I am not too upset.

This is not a great mouse for the MMORPG people out there, but since I don't typically play those titles I didn't care too much. The ergonomics of this mouse are spot on in that it feels solid but not clumsy. The button clicks are meaty and spot on, side buttons feel 'airy' but not 'flimsy' (you'll understand when you press them). The coating on this mouse is strange...I've had a Zowie AM and was expected a rubberized coating of that type and I was somewhat disappointed that was not the case. Does it still feel nice? Yes definitely. This mouse feels smooth, but still slightly textured to the touch. Overall I am not disappointed with my purchase, but the rubberized coating would have really brought it together that much more. Polling rates, accuracy, lift distance and all of that are spot on!

mouse works well, the surface paint and coating comes off with a few months use. Has no effect on how the mouse works, just a small anoyance.

First, the mouse itself is AMAZING. The weight, feel, mouse clicks, are all exactly as I expected for an FPS mouse (mostly CS:GO). The only time I found the mouse weak was for RTS games, like Starcraft 2, where I prefer lighter left and right clicks. So why am I giving it a 2/5 score? Customer service. My mouse suffered from the same problem many other EC2 users had: paint chipping. I filed an RMA on the website, and got contacted about a week later. After mailing the mouse with the appropriate documents, that was the last I have heard from ZowieGear. I emailed the ZowieGear rep twice regarding my RMA, and heard nothing. I went on the website to submit a message to Customer Service again, just in case my RMA rep no longer worked there, and again, nothing. Zowie has had my RMA'ed mouse for a month now (i tracked my shipping to their Huntington Beach office), and I have not received nor heard from them regarding my RMA and if I'll even get a replacement. As of right now, I have to return to my trusty g400s. I know how good this mouse is, but I cannot stress enough how undesirable this RMA process has been. I'll update if I hear from Zowie or if I ever get my mouse back.

I ordered this mouse twice and had to return it both times. The first time the right mouse button always double-clicked and was basically unusable. The second time I got this mouse, the paint started chipping 2-3 weeks into using it. There are many people reporting this paint peeling issue on the CL version. I was lucky this happened under a month and I could get a refund through amazon. Zowie's RMA takes forever to respond and you have to pay for shipping. I really liked the shape and sensor but it's a shame the build quality is so bad for a $60 mouse. Another mild complaint are the dpi steps. 450, 1150, 2300 are some really odd numbers to choose, with 450 and 1150 being interpolated. Wish it would be something more conventional like 400, 800, 1600.

I have been using a Razer Deathadder for the past 2 years and finally decided to switch to a new mouse. I've used a few different brands: Steelseries, Razer, Coolermaster, and now Zowie. Out of all of these I probably enjoyed my Steelseries Xai the most, followed by the Deathadder. I needed a mouse to fill some big shoes. Word on the street was that Zowie makes the best mice now. So I decided to opt in for the EC2 eVo CL. But sadly I find that it's just "meh" with one big issue Good: +No 3rd party software needed. Plug and play +Simple basic design +Smooth moving on mousepad and solid feeling clicking +$59.99 is a pretty good price for a gaming mouse +The matte coating on top is nice...but...(see BAD below) Bad: -The matte coating started peeling off after 3 weeks of use. I'm now 3 months into having this mouse and the surface of it is cracked and chapped almost 75%, peeling left and right. You can feel the cracks when you use it. Highly annoying. -The support team at Zowie took a good solid 8 weeks to reply to my support ticket on the peeling issue. I actually ended up sending a second support ticket, and still didn't receive a response until 3/4 weeks after that one. The peeling issue was seen by many other people with this mouse. Many users on the Overclockers forum shared the same issues with their EC1+EC2 eVo CL mice. Zowie did finally respond to my support ticket after some weeks passed by, and told me to send it in to get a new one. To be honest I don't really feel like paying for shipping and dealing with the hassle. In the mean time I'm just going back to my 2 year old Deathadder. I'll send in the mouse to get a replacement sometime soon and probably just sell it. It's not a bad mouse, it's just not the perfect one for me and the coating problem was a pain.

This mouse is a nice improvement over it's predecessor. I've noticed it has better and more precise tracking. My aim is less "wobbly". The scroll wheel and button are improved. It's not as stiff. I prefer the new coating too. A little slippery when you first handle it but the. It magically sticks to your hand but without feeling "sticky". I'm using 2300 DPI @ 1000 Hz and the sensor performance is flawless. The best thing about this mouse (and all Zowie mice) is there are not drivers or software to mess with. Everything can be changed through hardware. I would recommend this mouse to anyone who is right-handed, medium-to-big size hands and likes palm gripping. It truely is one of the, if not best mice currently on the market.

The shape, build quality, and overall feel of this mouse during operation is top notch. The shape feels like the old Microsoft Intellimouse that everyone loved so much. It fits the form of your hand like a glove. You can tell it's a high build quality because when you slightly squeeze the mouse, the plastic doesn't creak and crackle like almost all other plastic products on the market. The feel of the mouse during operation is due to four things: the soft rubber-like coating, the large glide pads on the base, the soft and flexible wire, and the quality of its infrared sensor. Overall, this is the best mouse I've ever used.
