When you followed the included directions you are required to sign on to a website that ask for credit card information in order for the device to allow you internet access. I have always used Linksys modems and never had to pay anything other than the cost of the device. The website also indicated my credit card would not be charged until a three day trial period. My credit card was charged $39 immediately. I always check this out in real time. The date of my sign up was post dated by one month. I called the number attached to the charge and got a bunch of run around, trickery and lies. But no resolution. I had to contact my credit card company to get my money back. And of course i returned the modem. Thats what happened to me. To return the modem i had to travel 50 miles to the closet UPS store that would take the QR code for a return. The local pick and drop UPS contractors could not process the return. Thats what happened to me. One star is very generous i would give it a minus 20 and i want my gas money back and any money my credit card company is charging me to get my money back to include my time spent trying to be made whole. On my last job i made $40/hour. It took me approximately 5 hours to fix the mess from just trying to upgrade my internet modem.

Easy to manually set-up SSID and PW "and then" plug and play.

the unit is very compact and easy to place close to your modem. the web configurarion wizard is good. walks you through the most basic of setup such as naming your SSIDs and giving them passwords, changing your router password, etc. the web interface contains most of the same setting options as older Linksys routers. the only one that i couldn't find was for DHCP reservation, which is very important for presetting the MACs and IPs for specific devices to access via some specific port forwarding that i need. i'm giving this 3 stars as it was missing this feature and that finding out about which settings are avaialble for this particular router is not available even on Linksys' own website. annoying! if you don't need anything fancy and the specs work for you, go for it! for me, this is going to be a return.

needed a backup for when our older one goes and a great value

I ordered this Linksys WiFi 5 Router, because my grandson constantly complains about the poor coverage our old router has in his bedroom, which is the farthest from it. In a straight line, it is less than 70 ft. This Linksys said 1,500 Sq. Foot coverage, in the listing. Plus, I like the Lindksys brand. I was able to piggy back it off of our existing router, which was nice, because we didn’t have to go into settings and change the wifi name, on every electronic device and type in a new password. This will be used just for the far side of our house. It has 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz. When I selected the 5.0, the first time, and entered the included password, it took me directly to the Lindsys website, where I was able to change the wifi name and password for each of the 2.4 and 5.0. The whole setup was very easy. When I checked how many bars the 5.0 had, it only showed 2 bars in grandson’s room, which is the same as the old router. The 2.4, however does give three bars in the back corner of his room.

This router is extremely good for the asking price, yeah yeah it doesn’t show the big numbers like many routers trying to oversell you features that most people won’t take advantage of, but if you need is a simple and quick wifi set up, this wifi 5 router will be enough for your needs. The range should cover any apartment no problem, the wireless speeds will vary greatly between devices, but best case scenario it should be close to the more realistic advertised speed. Remember not all devices uses the 5ghz connection let alone the 6ghz the other wifi 6 routers claims. That’s why those routers usually have bad reviews. What’s important is the stability of the wireless connection, and I haven’t encountered any issues with that. Just keep in mind this is a small router that’s meant to connect few devices wirelessly at the same time. It also has ethernet ports for crucial connections like video games or live streaming.
