Lionel 6-12038 FasTrack Elevated Trestle Set by Lionel

I hesitated purchasing this set because I thought you had to screw the trestles into the bottom of the track, which wouldn't work for me because it will only go up at Christmastime and I didn't want to strip out the bottom of the track every time it had to be assembled/disassembled. I decided to give it a try and see if I could make it work for me. Much to my surprise and delight, it is PERFECT. The metal bracket that goes on the top has short sides that hold the track in place so it doesn't slide around. The trestle clips into the base easily and comes apart if necessary. The base has two holes so you can screw it in place on a layout as a permanent fixture. There are also metal bars that tie two or more testles together for a more stable base. I used two bars (three trestles) on the long sides and one bar on the short sides. The curves have no bars, just individual trestles. I placed one underneath each track join. Only a trolley will run on this track, but as you can see from the video, it is very stable and does not bend at all. Now I will be able to place my tubular track with steam engine underneath it for a more fun and space-saving design. I purchased two sets, which gave me enough extras should I decide to add more in the curves areas.
