superior to the medela flanges, size is perfect for me
I have been using the standard medley pump flanges for a few years with my first son and now with my second. I used to get bruises and have lots of pain when I used these... I didn't know the flanges came in other sizes. I know I have very small nipples and I didn't realize that the pump was actually taking in tissue it wasn't supposed to suck in. I honestly just thought to look into alternative pump flanges a month after my second son was born and I did it because the end of the areola and nipple never felt drained, when I self expressed, I always got another let down and it was back on with the pump flange. So I decided to get the smallest flange out there and I am so glad I did! these 19mm openings produce more let downs, my nipples aren't misshapen afterward and they no longer bruise or hurt. I think the design is similar but improved upon the original flanges in a way that minimizes spray in the vertical chamber which reduces waste...for those of us who try to recover every last drop. The perfect way the milk falls from its intended port into the second chamber is so much more direct and as the design has intended it compared to the other flanges. I don't like 2 things, the opacity of the thicker plastic nipple chamber makes visibility difficult. I use compressions in conjunction with each let down and in between them so I do watch for visual confirmation in the chamber. However, the thickness of the chamber surrounding plastic is an improvement over the other flanges...I actually have a crack in one of the first flanges I used in the chamber which could have soon spread and compromised its suction. The overall construction of these flanges is superior and improved. Everything fits very snugly where parts are meant to be attached. The second thing I don't like is that these flanges are smaller and aren't as secure in my hands free pumping bra with round holes (not the type with overlapping material) as the larger, original flanges...the holes in the bra are somewhat stretched and if I compress during pumping, the bottom of the flanges can pop out of the hole. This too has an upside...i am able to compress more breast tissue without the larger perimeter of the other flanges...so I can just get another bra or modify this one. And, the diameter, of course, is perfect for me. I think this company has made a superior product both in design and function...they offer a size medley does not and it's exactly what I needed. It's a well priced product...they seem well worth the price and I would have paid more for these after knowing what I know about them now. I highly recommend trying a smaller flange if you experience bruising or have build up of milk in your nipple that isn't adequately removed while pumping.

Thank God for the Smaller Sizes!
I want to thank the founding dads of Maymom for recognizing that women's nipples come in wider ranges of shapes and sizes. The smallest flange size Medela has is 21mm. My bra size was 32A pre-pregnancy and now it is 32B (sometimes 32C) while breastfeeding. I thought my nipples were average for my breast size, but apparently I needed an X-Small flange. I ordered two sets of 15mm and my milk output has increased and pumping is so much more comfortable! Many pumping moms don't know that you should actually go down in flange sizes to reduce discomfort and increase milk output. I learned this from my lactation consultant, but not all lactation consultants know to give this advice. Always err on the smaller flange size. I guarantee you'll notice a difference! Almost every woman has to go down a size or sizes as she continues pumping because the elasticity of your nipple changes. I like that Maymom breast flanges come in one piece so you never have to worry about the connector coming loose during your pump session and milk spilling everywhere! I don't have any problems cleaning the one piece. I use mild dish soap and let super hot water run through it. I use the brush that's included with the flanges for a deeper clean. I have a Papablic sterilizer so I pop the flanges in the bottom compartment and the valves in the upper compartment. It's really nice that the pack comes with extra valves and membranes. It's a good value. It's a pain to get these flanges in the Medela hands-free pumping bra as you have to back it in, but if you have the Simple Wishes bra, it makes getting these guys in a lot easier!! The Simple Wishes pumping bra is a MUST HAVE to go along with the Maymom flanges.

Didn't work well for me but might for you
They were compatible with my medela pump no problem. The one piece aspect wasn't bad. This is my fourth child I'm nursing and pumping so I'm not new, went 18months with the first three. I ordered these as they were much cheaper then medela and I was having to rebuy everything after giving it all away thinking we were done having baby's. Anyways. First use and milk goes in the tube, happens occasionally but after the third time with the same shield, something is wrong with that one. I notice that sometimes I pump and feel great and get a lot of milk, other times I'm struggling and on the machine longer and I'm not as empty still. The tube that pulls the nipple in is much shorter and my nipple goes too far and I get a poor pump. My medela and these other off brand, nenesupply, are longer and don't pull my nipple all the way to the back so I get a good pump and empty nicely. I'm a larger bust with a nipple about as big around as my thumb, so maybe only a busty girl problem? I dunno. But other then that issue the suction was nice and strong, easy to clean yadda yadda good stuff to say. Just for me if I can't get a good empty when I pump I start to get sore and my breasts harden and get tender and I'll get cloggs so these don't work for me.

Definitely Recommend Giving it a Try
I used the standard 24mm size that came with my pump in style for months. I hated pumping, truly hated it. So much so that I contemplated weaning on a regular basis because of how painful and miserable the whole experience was. However, I enjoy breastfeeding, so I didn't really want to stop. After discovering that different flange sizes can make a difference in comfort and production, I searched around and found these. I tried the 19mm, which was infinitely more comfortable than the 24mm. TMI - It doesn't feel like my nipple is being ripped off of my chest anymore. I even pumped without using my Motherlove ointment, and it still didn't hurt. (But I still love the Motherlove.) That being said, I haven't noticed a difference in output yet, and as we all know, if the pumping isn't effective enough, you pay for it later. I get plugged ducts a lot and was hoping the smaller size would fix that, but I can't say there's been a difference. Some people have complained about it being harder to clean, but I disagree. It is in one piece, but its design is slightly different, so as long as you have a bottle brush with the smaller attachment, it's easy to clean, maybe even more so than the regular pieces. Ultimately, I think it's definitely worth a try if you're having problems, especially for the price.

MILK'IN MAMMA!!!
First thing first i NEVER leave product reviews but I LOVE THESE FLANGES and the fact that this company exists!! quick story: I started pumping extra milk when my daughter was born so i would not have any problems with my milk supply, and so that i could have a little freezer stash. However my freezer started filling up so i looked into what i could do with the extra breast milk. And i found that i could donate/ sell my extra milk to a milk bank that formulates breast milk for babies in the NICU, so i started pumping more, to up my supply in the hopes i could produce enough milk to quit work and be able to stay home with my baby. But after pumping extra boy oh boy my nipples were SORE! and i wanted to cry when i found out that the smallest size the pump companies made was a size 21 m flange (as i was using a 22). but a friend told me that she found this company on amazon and they made the smaller flanges. so i immediately ordered some. when they arrived I felt like I could pump all day, the difference was AMAZING. now you wonder why i brought up the milk bank.... I nurse my daughter AND AND AND pump an EXTRA 60 OZ a day (thats a lot of pumping)!! and its is only possible because of these flanges. If i was still using the standard size flange i would not be pumping the extra milk and would probably be at work crying because my nipples would be raw when i would have to pump. (I was able to quit work) not to mention with the correct size flange my milk lets down faster and i even get more milk out. do not wait any longer if your flanges don't fit there is a whole wonderful world of proper fit flanges!!! For the actual flanges themselves I love that they are one piece so you can really see if your nipple is rubbing on the side or if its where it should be, and the plastic is clearer than the ameda or medela brand flanges so you can see through the plastic even better than their flanges. All in all I really just want to give this company a big thanks!

Great set at a nice price
This is s great kit at a fair price. Thanks for making quality, affordable items for pumping moms. I keep a pair at work, and one at home to avoid accidentally forgetting them. So I am happy to have found these. I like that they have different sizes because we are not all made alike. I would recommend the Cloth Diaper Wet and Dry Bags by Zhiyouju to keep these in. And while I'm at it, here are a few tidbits fit first-timers since I'm on year 10 and child #4 of pumping. -As mentioned, keep a pair of everything at home and one at work. I realize not everyone has the privilege of a pump at work. In that case, keep the pump at work and learn to hand express at home. Unless you are REALLY good at remembering things. Because nothing is worse than getting to work and realizing you forgot your pump or supplies. -Get bottles that are compatible with the pump. Dr brown bottles will twist on to these shields. You'll save time and energy by not having to pump into bottles, transfer, and wash. -Store parts in the fridge between pump sessions so you don't have to wash them. Believe me, any bit of time you can save to get back to work week be great. -And finally, drink water, take fenugreek, and pump often. Start pumping before you go back to work. Freeze it. It won't go bad. You're awesome for breastfeeding and even awesomer for pumping. It's not an easy job. Kudos!

They work but a few noticible difference from Medela
These work fine with my Medela pump in style advanced pump, however there are a few things that I don't like. 1) there is no size label on the flange so if you see trying different sizes you better label them before you mix them all up. 2) the place that the tubes attaches is higher than on the Medela parts which makes it harder to hold these in place, it doesn't see pm to have any effect on suction it's just harder to hold with one hand. 3) the neck is longer than the Medela as well, again making it harder to hold with one hand. Number 2 & 3 might be solved with a hands free pumping bra but at this point I ordered another set of 21mm from Medela since I can use those half asleep without any problem. It is nice that they have a 19mm size since Medela doesn't offer that but I didn't notice a significant difference between the 19mm and the 21mm.

Finally a fit, and a Quality Made Product
First of all, I just want to say, the product (Maymom made 21mm one-piece breastshield) is quality made, and I have been using it for the past three weeks. No more pains! Ya. I expressed at least 1 oz more milk every session after I have used these 21 mm breastshields. This one piece product works as well as the two piece Medela PersonalFit 21mm one. What I would like to share more is how I came to this product. Like everyone else, I tried the 24 mm breastshield that came with the machine. As a first-time mother, I thought having some pains after a pumping session is normal. I was wrong. After few days of using it, the pains were terrible. I experienced a lot of pains and bruising from using the standard 24mm shields. From the diagrams on Medela's website and the information that comes with the pump, the flange should fit with just your nipple being pulled in during pumping. It is confusing if you have a mixed areola/nipple area. The problem is that my 'areola' protrudes about 1/8 inches and I thought that is part of the 'nipple' area when I talked to a lactation consultant. The lactation consultant told me to try larger breastshields. I tried larger one (27 mm), though it did not hurt as much, my milk supply went down by one-third and the bruise area became large. I felt every suction along the pumping. I tried the next size up - 30 mm, even worse! After reading more and more reviews, I decided to try a smaller one. I ordered both Medela's PersonalFit 21 mm breastshield and this Maymom made one (it is cheaper, and others said it is easier to clean). Tada.. No more pains. Both brands worked well. Finally a FIT. I realized now that when I was using the larger ones (27 mm and 30 mm), it was more of the 'areola' that was pulled into the tunnel and the milk ducts were blocked during a suction action. Therefore, less milk supply. When I was using the medium one, the sensitive area of my 'areola' was rubbing the tunnel, thus pains. So the bottom line - know what are the nipple and areola of your breasts. It is the nipple part that should go into the breastshield tunnels, not the areola. Choose the right size and pumping will no longer be painful!

Just as advertised.
I literally have no idea how everything works.. even after watching a coupe YouTube videos I’m still a little unsure.. I was under the impression for some reason that this was all I needed for breast pumping! But it is all good, I did some more research based on the box and learned I needed an electric pump. The breastshields don’t fit me.. I have smaller nipples so I’m hopping I can find a smaller size that will fit me.. For any first time moms I would suggest googling some images of what a breast shield should look like for the proper fit. I wasn’t too sure myself, despite the pictures on the box. It’s just nice seeing an actual video of how it all works. But besides that I have everything I need for an electric pump! Thank you so much for sending this ♥️

Gutes Produkt!
