It was a breeze to put together, it’s soft antiqued brass appearance is very rich looking and it has the same color finish as our nightstand lamps does. The shade is a classic ivory and requires a 3-way lightbulb. I must admit that I ran across this same lamp at another online retail store. This was my second choice and I went with this lamp because the first lamp I was looking at was a flimsy plastic and reviewers commented that lamp didn’t hold up when simply moving a lamp for cleaning. The base of this lamp is one SOLID piece which will keep the lamp level and in place. I recommend when cleaning the lamp to just use a Swifter Dust wand. Since my hubby is a night owl and we enjoy different programs, he likes sports and I prefer the history channel along with reading so the lamp is positioned off to my right over my shoulder in our bedroom next to my chair where I can either read or watch TV. This lamp has so much going in its favor from the over all appearance, the beautiful antique brushed brass, and most importantly is the craftsmanship that went into making this quality lamp. Review: Doesn’t stand straight - Lamp is beautiful but doesn’t stand straight. There is a black level on the bottom to help it stand in place and that is not even therefore the lamp leans slightly. For the price it’s kind of a let down but otherwise it’s a nice lamp.
