Really nice temperature logger!
Works great, high accuracy, and love that it also collects humidity data. If you're looking for a temperature logger this is a great choice. There are also a lot of customization options if you download the frigga software (change the units F/C and set the recording delay).

Configuration software runs a permanent service on your computer as administrator
It says you don't need software on your computer to read the data on it. What they don't say is that you do need software on your computer to set it up. For MacOS, that software is available on the Apple App Store, so that should be safe, right? Sure, until that app then automatically downloads other software directly from their web site, a DMG that contains a PKG, which you are required to install for the device to be configured, which then installs a service on your computer that runs all the time. As root. Then the "Uninstall" application that they provide is a binary command-line application, which Crowdstrike (antivirus, effectively) kills as suspicious. I was able to unpack the PKG file and figure out what it would do and undo that manually, but anyone who isn't a reasonable expert at MacOS administration will just have a process from "Shanghai Dewav IoT Technology Co., Ltd" running on their computer, as root, for eternity. There is just no need for this at all, and it's genuinely suspicious.

Battery life sucks
Constantly having to change batteries.

Learning how to use this will take a bit. Once you do, the information you get is priceless
Multiple report types. Great information. inexpensive. I have used this to track issues in several buildings. Couldn't have found the problems without this data logger.

Easy temperature logging cold chain
This is a quite simple temperature logger. Many of these originated during Covid to record the temperature of vaccine shipment and guarantee that the temperature was maintained throughout the shipment. That is the reason these have the stop disabled by default and barcode. Of course, there are many other uses for these but that is the original intention, so don't complain about that. This logger does what it says. The parameters can be set/changed from the software which is simple and intuitive. However, I had few times when the software didn't recognize the device and had to reconnect it. Other than that the device logged the temperature well at set interval. Temperature accuracy seemed fine. In my test it didn't fail once when used from -20°C to +50°C. Getting the report in CSV or PDF without the software is good option. Overall it work as intended, you should know its intended purpose and your use case.

Poor communication, customer service and inability to use.
Don’t waste your money, as soon as I figure out how to return it I will. It requires two access codes to use and they only give you one… so not sure how you are supposed to actually use it. The website is worthless to navigate or recieve help.

Software Expands the Functionality
The only problem with this logger is the rubber cap on top that makes it hard to plug it securely into a USB port – they should have either made the cap fully removable or included a cable. Otherwise, it seems to be very well constructed. The unit is not rechargeable, but the battery can be replaced; a coin works well to unscrew the battery cover when the time comes. While this logger works without the software, the default functions are very basic: To start it logging, you press and hold the start button until the blue LED lights; a quick press on the start button after that gives you a brief display of the current measurement, but otherwise the screen is blank (presumably to save battery life). Plugging it into the USB port stops data collection and automatically generates the MS Excel and pdf-report files. That’s the 4 star, basic version of the logger. However, If you go to their main website, you can download & install their “Frigga Data Center” software; there’s also a pdf download of the software’s instruction manual. The Data Center software lets you adjust the default time zone, allow the stop button to function (the default condition is disabled), set min/max temperature alarms, look at the data/graphs, and transfer data to the cloud. I had no trouble downloading the software and getting it to run under Windows 10. To me, the added functionality of the software raises this to a 5 star logger. I should note that the software also includes a poorly-explained “21 CFR part 11” feature; it seems that this setting allows you to add password protection to the data file, to create an official record from the temperature/humidity dataset. For so called “cold-chain” use, this feature enables you to create an regulatory record that you’ve kept a medication, or other temperature-sensitive product, under continuous temperature control during storage and/or transport. Although this is not something I personally need to do, I imagine it would be a valuable commercial feature for some.

A nice data logger with questionable software.
The data logger itself seems to be nicely made and does a good job, but you really need the Frigga software app to change operating parameters of the logger. And the software is flawed. As it is, the logger starts logging after you hold the START button for five seconds and then after a 30 m delay. I prefer a shorter startup delay, but you need the software to control that. The STOP button is disabled by default so that the logger cannot be accidentally stopped. You stop it by plugging it into the USB port of your computer, and then the logger generates report files that can be accessed just like you would from a flash drive. I let the logger run overnight and then plugged it into my M1MacBook Pro. As soon as I did that, the logger stopped logging and generated a .pdf report and a .csv file that I could open in a spreadsheet. That was all fine. And as for the software, it’s a bit kludgy to be generous. I tried it on my Mac and I’ll say that, at least the application was available for the Mac and not just for Windoze, so I appreciate that. But after downloading software from the App store (and as of the available version 1.01 at the time of this writing) – the software pops a dialog box asking you to download and install an additional and undocumented piece of software. It more than requests, rather - it insists. The dialog automatically downloads this installer, even if you click on the CANCEL button! And that dialog box pops up again, each time you click cancel, you get another copy of this undocumented software. And since I don’t know what the software does, and it’s not been vetted by the Apple store, I did not run the installer (which I think might be some communications component). I ended up with a bunch of these installers that I had to throw in the trash. All that said – without installing that additional piece of software, the main Frigga application still did allow me to interact with the data logger and control settings such as the startup delay, Fahrenheit / Celsius, time zone, etc., so I don’t know why it is so insistent that I install that bit of undocumented software. It worked enough for me to set the parameters I wanted. But I don’t plan to use the software again. The hardware dongle itself seems to be rugged and I think it’s a nice logger. In my experience, many of these types of imported data products fail when it comes to software and this one is no exception. The little instruction booklet is not terribly useful, but there is a reasonable instruction manual available on-line, despite parts where there are poor translations. I give the company credit for that. I think that this product has the potential to be a pretty nice data logger if they can work out the kinks in the software and improve the usability a little bit.
