Is there a specific wood I should use when cooking?

We recommend kiln-dried hardwoods like Oak, Hickory, Maple, and Pecan. Some wood is not safe for cooking, including softwood, plywood, construction scraps, painted or stained lumber, or any composite logs containing accelerants.

Can I cook when the fire is burning?

The fire pit cooking system works best with a shallow bed of embers in your fire pit’s burn chamber. Flames shouldn’t be higher than a few inches while cooking with the Cast Iron Grill.

Do I need to season Cast Iron Grill before I use it - similar to a cast iron skillet?

Yes, Cast Iron Grill should be treated just like the cast iron you’re familiar with. The non-stick quality will fully develop after 8-10 seasonings. Allowing an extra 30 minutes before cooking will be plenty of time to season your Cast Iron Grill.

Do I need the Hub in order to use the cooktops?

Yes, Hub is an essential part of your fire pit cooking system. Cast Iron Grill should never be placed over your fire pit without Hub.

Love it, the ability to cook on a fire, add more wood and enjoy the outdoors. I've added this to the lower cost costway firepit without issue. It fits almost perfectly and is a perfect upgrade to a normal bbq!

Not great at all.

So the positives, The Hub is fantastic. Really sturdy and easy to use. But the griddle is just not functional. I found it to be A) Too Heavy B) The Metal to be too thick and the gaps in the griddle too far apart and found every sticks to this. I had purchased another brands griddle from Amazon which I have also reviewed and found that to be a much better and product and much cheaper. A side note, this thing rusts. Leave it out overnight once and it becomes very difficult to clean. Overall I wouldn't recommend the griddle, but would recommend the hub.

Poor quality. Poorer customer service

This is a supposedly quality product. However, when taking the cast iron grill pan out of the bubble wrap it was pitted all over with rust spots. Solo customer services couldn't care less, and said it was "to be expected". There we are then shoppers!

I love my SoloStove! It’s a great looking product that functions well. This is a great accessory to add on to your solo stove purchase Assembly takes no time at all. Super sturdy, and easy to move around. On the grill in my review video I have some bacon wrapped jalapeños, and y'all…so good!

Wir lieben unseren Stove und die Grillplatte kommt immer mit. Nutzen den Ranger bei unseren Wohnmobil-Reisen und es gibt keinen Stress am Strand oder auf Stellplätzen. Bis jetzt jedenfalls und selbst die Italienische Polizei schmunzelte und fuhr wieder… Gitterklemmrost empfehlen wir, für alle, die den Gussteller zu schwer finden, siehe Foto
