Works Great, Mark Your Own Measuring Cup
I just wish it had had a proper measuring cup for the average 1 pound shock bag equivalent in the bucket. I took a one pound shock bag I had remaining and poured it into a measuring cup and marked where it filled to to make the equivalent product. Now I do not need one in the bucket! I could find more to complain about, but frankly the product works great and I should take an oppurtunity now to experiment with the right amount of volume of material to get the desired CL level rather than using, "the one bag after rain, two starting to go green", mantra. This is my first go round bying loose CL for shock rather than the bags which have doubled in price twice since 2020. I figure 100 pound ought to keep me going with my little pool for quite some time. The price is awesome and if I had more use for it I'd have bought a second bucket as a hedge against inflation.

Pool shock.
For the price it does what it supposed to. Just make sure to dissolve the granules in a 5gall bucket. Also make sure to remove it from the plastic bag that it ship in, it will crumble with time.

DO NOT BUY
DO NOT BUY THIS STUFF, PLEASE LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. I do not leave many reviews but i had to for this. You get what you pay for. First off it is like a solid block and you have to scrape it with a metal garden shovel to break it up. There are pieces of black plastic throughout. When you use it, this stuff is worthless. It clouds the water, it does not dissolve, it leaves little white particles floating on the surface of the pool and most of it sinks to the bottom, which in turn clogs up the filter. The worst part is it does not work!!! I used 3 times the recommended amount and the chlorine test still showed under 1 PPM. I do not know what is in this but it does not do anything. Water stays green tint until I use a different product. A one pound bag of shock of a different brand or a jug of liquid chlorine does way more than 6 pounds of this stuff. I have never felt more ripped off by any item i have bought. Amazon should stop selling this stuff, it is a rip off.

Quality at a great price!!
This shock dissolves quickly and doesn’t contain stabilizer which can lead to chlorine “lock”. Container can be difficult to open but not as difficult as some other chlorine containers I’ve had in the past. The really cool thing about this chlorine is that the granules are in a plastic bag within the buckets so you have two opportunities to ensure that the product stays dry and airtight. If you’re new to pools and chlorine, this is important! I made the mistake one year of not ensuring that the container (another brand) was not tightly closed (mainly because it was hard for me to open) and left it in my shed over the winter like that. HUGE mistake. When I went into the shed in the spring, the chlorine smell was AWFUL and worse than that, everything in the shed made of metal was totally corroded. Lesson learned $$$ Anyhow, to make reopening the bucket easier, I use the flat end of my corkscrew. Works like a charm. You could probably also use a paint can opener. Price was EXCELLENT, delivery quick and the product works. Enjoy your pool!

Good, but caution
This is not chlorine powder, it is granular chlorine, it doesn’t dissolve well in the pool. After putting a few “chlorine stains” in my pool, I started dissolving this stuff in a bucket of water, stirring it up for 5-10 minutes and then pouring in the mix. I’d rather have the powder. It sanitizes well, but… stains.

Finally, a bargain in pool shock chemicals!
After two years of exorbitant prices following a chlorine factory burning down there's light at the end of the tunnel. While still double the cost it's not 3-4 times the cost just 6 months ago. We seized on the -$100 fall (end of Sept) promotion for this product and bit the bullet ordering the largest 100 lb bucket. Two things I am happy to report... well three: First, the instructions on the top of the lid are clear. Just snap the four tabs on each corner off and the lid with lift off just fine. Second, I took a scale outside and set the bucket on top. It weighed 102 pounds (bravo). And three, the 65% trichlor shock is just as potent as listed. The pool was at a chlorine level of about 3 when I shocked it with about 1-1/2 lbs of this product. An hour later I took a water sample to Leslie's for testing (I know my phos and pH needed tweaking) and the chlorine level was over 9! The water also had that nice fresh aroma of chlorine emanating from the surface too. For just over $300 (with tax) for 100 pounds of quality shock and Prime delivery within 5-days? Wow, super happy. I did feel bad for the FedEx guy though. The bucket is a 2 x 2 x 2 heft chunk to maneuver for sure.

Last Resort Pool Shock - POOR Dissolving, Heavy White Film
Good chlorine content but heavy, cloudy silt that leaves a hard film on surfaces. It dissolves POORLY even with agitation in a bucket. With the calcium, the hardness went up, which is good, sort of. You know that scale you get on your bathroom faucets that needs to be removed with CLR or other chemical? This is what you're getting as a base for the chlorine (that's the C in CLR) It's inexpensive, it does the job, but the particulates and film are a deal breaker. I'd only get this as a last resort. Also, mine arrived in a sealed rectangular plastic pail without any additional lining. One good thing I can say is that it shipped instantly and arrived extremely quickly - over a week ahead of schedule!

I recently switched from liquid to granular to make things easier, and I’m glad I did! It’s much more convenient — no more frequent store trips. I use about 8 oz per week, dissolve it in a bucket first, and then pour it into the pool. Works exactly as expected and keeps the water crystal clear.
