Can it be plugged into a 240 outlet?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There is a European style plug on the main input power lead.  The kit includes a US 110v adaptor. Be sure to switch to input to 240v before plugging into the mains outlet. If used in the UK you will need  UK style mains adaptor.

Question 2

My apartment has a 220 plug for a dryer. My portable dryer is 110 volt. Is this what I need to plug into 220 wall plug and plug my dryer into this?

Yes, it can be used as a step down from 220 to 110, but you need to make sure that number of Watts of the transformer you are buying is matching the number of Watts of the Dryer or more. You need also to consider the plug of the transformer because i think the 220 socket at the wall has different interface than the transformer’s plug.

My advice to you is to get an electrician and ask him to make a 110 socket at the wall. This will be much safer than using a transformer to step down the voltage.

Replacement fuse  size for ITU-1000 unit?

I have the ITU 500 which is rated for lower current. The ITU 1000 is the higher current model. I'd check with the manufacturer for the proper fuse.

I want to bring an instapot (1000w) from canada to uk - will this work?

First of all in general it's not a great idea do you use a voltage converter for appliances that generate a lot of heat. But that doesn't mean it won't work. If you're going to try it, you want at least a 2000 watt voltage converter or maybe even 3 or 5000. Reason is that appliances that heat might say they're thousand Watts, but that's usually calculated as their average wattage once they're up to temperature and running. When you first turn it on and it's heating up oh, it's likely that the wattage is actually much higher until it gets to temperature. For example I had a 1500 watt water kettle. Blew out the fuse on my 2000 w voltage converter, because when you turn it on it spikes higher than 2000. so it's a good rule of thumb to buy a voltage converter that can handle about 3x whatever wattage you need especially for a heating appliance.  It's also like the top speed of a car. just because a car can go 200 miles per hour doesn't mean you should run it at 200 miles per hour for long periods of time. You'll wear it out and damage it pretty quickly. So if you have a 900 watt appliance you don't really want to run that on a thousand watt voltage converter, it puts too much stress on it and you're better off getting a 2000 watt converter
