P40i by Anker Noise Cancelling Earbuds with Adaptive ANC

There’s a lot to like in these earbuds. I bought them to replace an older JBL pair that no longer would hold a charge for more than 30 minutes. The P40i are rated for 12 hours of run time out of the case, or 10 hours with ANC on. Pop them back in the case for 10 minutes for 2 hours more run time. The case charge is good for 60 hours / 50 with ANC.Bluetooth pairing is quick and seamless. The case has magnets that “lock” the buds in place with a satisfying click, so you know the contacts are properly aligned. The case sits flat on your table etc., vs. other cases I’ve had, which were all curvy and didn’t rest in a position that ensured good contact for charging (Bose, I’m talking to you).The sound quality is excellent. I find the overall sound to be balanced and natural. The app has lots of settings to adjust the noise-cancelling mode, etc. There’s an “Immersive Experience” setting that works great for expanding the soundstage. The effect is very convincing, especially for symphonic recordings.The app has an adjustable high volume limit feature, and shows you the decibel level in real time while you’re listening, a plus for your hearing health. There are more than 20 EQ presets and custom EQ, so listeners shouldn’t have any trouble fine-tuning their experience.I found them on sale here on Amazon for just $42, and it’s the best $$ I’ve spent on audio in quite a while.

Now I would like to start that I am a big fan of soundcore earbuds and headphones. I do own the soundcore Liberty Pro 2 earbuds, so I would be comparing them side by side. I would like to advise you that I really hate stick styled earbuds, however although I'm still not a fan of that style I really really like these. To start off the battery life on these are I would say better than the Liberty Pro two. Even with active noise canceling these last far longer than the Liberty Pros in battery life. Are also a lot lighter than the other ones which can be subjective depending on circumstance and usage. I also think for some reason that these sound better for a variety of reasons such as the seal is better and the way that the tips are shaped help with the sound quality and comparison with the Pro two. The case is also nicer and more compact in the way that it opens and closes. The other ones have a sliding case in which it opens easily and can cause unneeded battery drain. And the opposite is true with the p40i, the case is a tad bit harder to open but it remains closed far better and the magnets for the earbuds are stronger and the placement of the earbuds in the case is far superior.The things that I don't like about the P40i. The first thing I don't like about these is the stick Style of earbuds as they are annoying and are harder to position correctly due to the stick design. I also don't like the sensitivity of the touch controls nor are they as programmable as they should be in the app. I am constantly trying to increase the volume, but due to the nature of the sensitivity I instead increase one bar of volume and then I activate the next track feature in watching YouTube it actually changes the video which is a major con. I also don't like that because of the stick design it is harder to assess the correct position in the ear that it should be in so that it doesn't pop out and that the best seal is achieved. Another thing that I don't like even though they sound overall better than the Pro two, is that the Bass is not as good. And I believe that the lighter nature of the earbuds can feel sort of Airy.However these earbuds in my opinion have better microphones for calls better Environmental muting especially with wind while on the phone and the clarity of your voice is heard much better than the liberty pro 2. Also the active sound cancellation is to my opinion better and it has better options in the app. Please note I got these on sale so for me these are a very great option if you do not want to go with the soundcore Liberty Pro 2 or the new one which I believe is also stick styled. Volume wise I believe the Liberty Pro 2 have a higher volume and the soundstage is just Superior then these. However having both and using both these are definitely a buy for sure. I have not bought or used the new Liberty Pro 3 so I have no reference or comparison to those. I have owned the first Liberty Pro which I still believe although heavier are far more better than the Liberty Pro two in general sound and that it had a physical button which I prefer over touch buttons.Unfortunately for the time that I purchased the spin fit tips they do not fit the p40i's earbuds so I had to return those and use the sound core included ear tips. I have had no connectivity issues in fact I can use them simultaneously with two devices and they are fast to turn on or off and the range is more or less the same as other soundcore earbuds I do hope they keep improving the earbuds in both price per performance and overall quality. I highly recommend these.

I got these as a lower-cost replacement for the 1st generation AirPods Pro that I had used for a few years (before one of the pods finally met its unfortunate demise), and I’d say they’re just about as good all-around as those were. The fact that these are a quarter of the price of the AirPods Pro is certainly astounding, and I’m legitimately very impressed. I have always thought highly of Anker/Soundcore’s products, but I bought these for $36 (on sale) and certainly did not expect them to be THIS good LOLSound quality: While the sound quality is not quite as good as the AirPods Pro, I found the smart EQ feature on the Soundcore app to be EXTREMELY helpful in getting the p40i earbuds to sound much better. The noise-cancellation of these p40i is also comparable to that of the AirPods Pro 1st gen in my opinion, given that you fit them properly into your ears (and I’m often in a noisy environment). I am happy with the way these sound; I own an expensive pair of over-the-ear headphones and I am generally picky about sound. When I do wear earBUDS though, I am not super super picky, and I just want something that can (1) be easily connected to my device (2) have long battery life (3) be durable, water-resistant. Basically, for earbuds, I’m looking for a workhorse, and these do the job while sounding excellent for the price!Battery life and Durability: I wear these earbuds A LOT (I can hear street noise inside my house at all hours, and wearing earbuds helps me to focus); while walking, exercising, cleaning, cooking, and also while showering (when I am not submerging my head in water of course), and the p40i have been perfect for all of those! The battery life is incredible, even after months of daily use- the battery life of the p40i is definitely better than that of the 1st gen AP Pros (which struggled to maintain even 2 hrs use even when fully charged after 2 yrs). They are definitely water-resistant and durable as well, having survived multiple instances of light water exposure and multiple drops. I have not kept the case in any sort of protector, and there are essentially no visible scratches on the exterior (again, this is another category in which the p40i offers better performance in my opinion than Apple’s airpods).Connectivity + conclusion: I used to think only Apple products could connect so seamlessly to my iPhone (which is a major selling point of Apple’s Airpods), but these p40i changing my mind! 98% of the time, I am connecting these to my iPhone 14. Connection is seamless, and I have only had to fully re-pair my phone and the p40i once in 5 months of ownership (pairing is also incredibly easy). Also, I have a Dell laptop and a Surface Pro (Windows OS), and the connectivity between my computers and the p40i is a much nicer experience than that of my computers and the Apple AirPods.Conclusion: Honestly, I will not be buying any AirPods device again because of the experience I have had with the p40i- although Airpods work great and are nice, I’ve accepted that earbuds in general just won’t last forever with daily use, so it doesn’t make sense to spend over $100 on them. In 2-3 years when I’m ready for new earbuds, I will likely buy one of Soundcore’s more expensive models as I am truly impressed with the overall quality of these budget-friendly p40i earbuds!

Replacing a set of 2yo Jabra Elite 7 Pros whose batteries no longer last past 5 hrs...Pro: sound great -- bass heavy just as I like it. But dynamically much better than the afterthought sound on the E7Ps, esp back-to-back. 11mm drivers and clever software better than 10mm and half-baked...Pro: customisability. I loved how easy it were to get started with these -- and thank you Anker for selling to me fully-charged. Easy to test for fitment and your hearing so your sound prefs can match thru the app.Pro: price, obviously. This solves every flaw of the Jabras (wishy-washy and long-wait connectivity; slips out of ear with merest head movement; speakers that clip with minimal input; useless app) for half the money. Even with its own unique flaws, would still buy this 10/10x over the E7Ps at half price.Pro: battery life of 11 hrs on a full chg is more than the heavier, bulkier, and dbl-priced E7Ps.Con: fitment with conical eartips put a ring of pressure in the ear canal after about an hour (one area the Jabras were better at, comfort over long wear) Never sits quite right in my ear, but light weight offsets this slightly so doesn't seem to affect slipping out as much, esp when laying down. That pressure point will take some getting used to, or may swap on the Jabra's eartips if they fit.Con: battery life w/ *any* feature enabled. Pass-thru and noise cancelling cut battery life by more than half, down to 5 hrs if you're lucky; just tested this yesterday. Luckily I don't need NC or pass-thru so set to Normal and life is back to... well, normal.Con: tendency for any touch of the unit body to trigger a tap feature. The natural tendency is to grab close to the ear, at the base of the 'tail' of the earbud to adjust fit; this is where the touch sensors are, so be prepared to turn your volume up and down a few hundred times by accident before you grab the non-intuitive bottom of the tail for such.--In all, the price virtually negates most these cons for me -- as long as I get my battery life close to 11 hrs and that great sound... nothing else matters as I don't answer the phone w/ earbuds in or listen to music on public transportation.Don't need to upgrade to the far more expensive Libertys either, for only incrementally better sound and worse battery life (tho if given to me or heavily discounted, wouldn't turn them down).In summary... I will take a star for the amt of battery life taken by features some would consider vital in this purchase. For my buying power, these are near top of class -- nice work from a company a cut above the stereotypical PRC-based indifferent quality in personal tech, esp at the entry level.Four stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ _---UPDATE 10 FEB 25:Have used my P40i and A40 over the past couple of weeks... and have decided the A40 is the superior choice, at least for my use case.I just can't past the poor fitment of this oblong-section eartip -- nothing ever feels snug, and am constantly fiddling with them or making sure they aren't going to fall into that storm drain when running. They are arguably lighter than the A40s, yet I can run with the A40s with perhaps 2 adjustments for fit... whereas I'm babysitting P40i nearly constantly, every few steps -- even on a casual walk. Showstopper...Then there's the matter of the features you get that the A40s don't -- and whilst they do seem worth the asking price... when in use in the field, their poor fit negates any possible advantage, if they're falling out of my ears (btw, I have gone thru all the possible eartips to find the best fit. Either they push out and fall from my ear with the smallest jostle of the head, or they don't seal and all bass response is lost. Not great choices).When they do seal, they sound great -- no argument there. But worth the premium over the A40? Not really with good seal, definitely not with its actual ear retention.Will be keeping these for light duty -- their longer battery life is useful for long hours reading as job frequently asks. But for traveling, running, and any body position past upright, the A40 is the superior choice for me :)---UPDATE 18 FEB 25:I've lost all bass response for some reason -- used to be comparable to A40 when properly sealed; now nothing but mids and highs. Adjusted EQ settings, re-did the Hearing Test for Soundcore Signature twice -- nothing's brought it back. Will have to take another star -- another endorsement for A40 tbh. Three stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ _ _

Summary: Zero Real Complaints, 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for wireless earbuds.Just to preface, I don't have the most extensive experience with wireless earbuds, these are the nicest/most expensive pair I've ever had. There may be 'better' options out there but I don't see how they could improve on these in any significant way.The sound quality is great, the bass is plenty powerful and they get quite loud. No complaints from me on sound. I adjusted the EQ through the soundcore app, which was simple enough even for an audio noob like myself, just picked the preset that sounded the best to me (Acoustic). The default flat EQ setting was a little bland so I do recommend seeing which preset you prefer. I haven't used the microphone so I don't know how good it is, but I'm sure its perfectly serviceable for wireless earbuds standards.This is the first time I've experienced actual noise cancelling, and its kind of insane how well it works. When I turn it on, I can noticeably hear the world around me going near-silent, even in an already quiet environment. Any loud sudden noises or yelling will break through a bit, but even then they're quite a bit less noisy. Fantastic first experience for noise cancelling.I haven't used these too much, but so far it seems like the battery life is fantastic. A full charge just in the earbuds will last 6+ hours, plus at least 5 full charges held in the case makes for a long time between case charges. A little thing, but the fact that the case has wireless charging is really nice just to top it off every now and then.The touch controls are very nice, there's a little bump where the touch sensor is and an audio cue when you touch it. I love that they are customizable per side, and even a different customization when only one is in. I kinda wish you could add controls for 4 or more touches, or maybe have different profiles but that's such a small nitpick it really doesn't matter at all.As far as fit and build quality, no problems whatsoever. They fit nice in my ears just with the default medium-size plugs but there's a lot of options for people with different ears (5 total sizes). I do need to adjust them every now and then, as they start to fall out a little bit especially when I'm at the gym. The case feels very good, LED for charging is a little difficult to interpret but again doesn't really matter. Little thing, but I love that the case doubles as a phone stand. It's not really adjustable at all but it beats holding the phone myself.Overall, really a 10/10 experience for me. I genuinely don't know what could make these any better. I paid $50 for these on sale, which is such fantastic value for what you get. Even at $70 these are great value in my opinion. I don't know what else is out there at this price, but I don't see how it could be better than this. If you are looking for good wireless earbuds, I would 100% recommend these.

I've had these earbuds for a few months now and I wanted to give it enough time to get a good feel for them before writing a review. For the short version: they're good wireless earbuds for the price, but they're just good overall. They replaced a set of JBL wireless earbuds costing more than twice as much and did not feature noise cancelling, and I'm also comparing them against my favorite wired earbuds: the Panasonic ErgoFits. I'm not an audiophile per se, but I do record and mix music and enjoy high quality audio. So I used these for music, gaming, and youtube videos, and in environments form sound isolated listening rooms to while cutting the grass and using powertools.Pros:- connection is less than 2 seconds after taking them out of the case - often before they are in my ear. You can use either ear bud or both, and swap back and forth with no issue. The connection has been rock solid and I've only experienced one time where they skipped and got out of sync for a few seconds before recovering. The JBLs had CONSTANT connection issues so this is a huge win from "cheap" earbuds.- battery life is great. I've never actually run them to low battery because I don't get any point in my day uninterrupted for 10 hours; dropping them back in the case to charge is convenient and provides quick power.- case is solid, very satisfying to open and close with a nice magnetic lid. USB-C charging is nice and there's even a reset button for the earbuds on the case in case something glitches, which I've never had to use.Cons:- they don't hold in my ear very well. This could be a personal problem but I've never struggled with any earbuds before after finding my earcup size. These sit best with the tails facing forward like a 2000s headset but still need reseating frequently.- the touch controls are far too easy to accidentally activate. All controls needs either a double or long press but it's very hard to adjust their placement without touching the buttons at least once and I've skipped through songs accidentally plenty of times. With the poor fit (for me), I'm constantly adjusting them too- this is my first foray into noise cancelling so maybe I'm being too harsh, but the implementation here is obtrusive and distracting, which I feel is the opposite of the intent. It definitely works because when I turned it off I thought it was amplifying all the sounds around me though that's a separate setting (only accessed via the app). It does well with common background noise like voices or the hum of a city, but something like a lawnmower it seems to try different profiles every 30 seconds so the mower noise fades in and out or changes pitch. It countered a chop saw by turning it into what sounded like shattering glass. Maybe these are beyond the intended use case, but I get a much better isolation out of just getting some foam ear cups.The last important part is the sound and its neither a pro nor a con. They do sound good with a decent sound stage and pretty flat response, however detail is only achieved when they sit snugly in the ears (which they don't for me for more than a few seconds). And I say flat response as in they sound flat, not as in perfectly balanced. Nothing stands out harshly and all ranges are present, so it's not an offensive listening experience, but it definitely feels uninspired. Listening to them side by side with the Panasonics (which are wired $14 ear buds) is night and day. The Soundcore's are like hearing sound from a TV - everything is there, but its just...THERE. The Panasonics are like adding a good sound system: everything POPS and the sound envelops you, giving you detail you never knew existed.Before this becomes and ad for those earbuds, the bottom line is these are a great value for what you get, though I'd weigh the price increase over the lower model that doesn't include ANC since I don't find it to be stellar. I'll be keeping them for when I need the wireless convenience due to the excellent connectivity and battery life, but when I want to experience music, I won't be reaching for these.

I had bought the Soundcore P20i before so I know that the Anker brand earbuds are really good for the price. I needed another set of earbuds for work because the ones I have were finally not charging any more. I decided to go with the P40i because I needed earbuds with good sound quality as well as a clear microphone because of my work as an online tutor. My students said that my voice was much clearer now. I could also hear my students much better. The battery life is also awesome, I can easily use them for 2.5 hours without having to charge them, but if I do, I just pop them in the case for about 10 - 15 minutes and they are good to go for another lesson or two. The added bonus which was unexpected but fantastic is the Soundcore app which is a free download on the App Store but is worth its weight in gold! Not only can you control sound quality, there is the Soundspace section that allows you to listen to sound that help cal and relax you so you can sleep after a stressful day. The thing I use the most is the live translation feature which can literally translate one language to the next with really good accuracy and if you have the Soundcore P40i buds you can hear the live translation, of course there is a couple seconds lag, but that can’t be helped because the app needs to hear a few seconds of conversation before it can translate, but once you get used to the lag it is really quite amazing. The buds sound cancellation are good enough for me, it may be better on the other high-end earbuds,but your not paying over a hundred dollars for an awesome pair of earbuds. The only thing I didn’t quite like about the buds is not the buds itself but the charging case which is a little bulkier than other brands, so if you but it in your pockets, it does create a noticeable pocket bulge, but because I carry a sling and like the fact that the larger case means I can use my buds longer, I am more then fine with that small trade off. I would recommend this product to anyone, and I ended up buying my wife a Soundcore P20i because she just needed simple earbuds that sound good and the bonus is that they also come in pink which is her favorite color. The Anker brand products are affordable but of great quality. I would recommend them to my friends, family, and all of you who come across this review.

Ordered the P40i buds to replace disappointing jLab ones. I didn't want to break the bank but also didn't want cheap earbuds. These are a great midrange option and the sound quality was better than expected. They charge up fast and I like the magnetic case so you know they're seated properly. 5 sizes of silicone inserts so you can get a great fit. The app was pretty easy to use and let's you customize to your hearing range and has options to personalize the eq. Overall a great deal for the price.

Excellent earbuds, very high quality sound and noise cancelling for a really good price. Coming from apple airpod pros to these and i don't regret the move one bit, had a lot of trouble with the junk airpod pros.

ANC feature is worst as if it does not exist.

I’m really happy with the Soundcore P40i. Pairing was quick and painless, and once it’s set up it connects to my phone immediately. Take it out of the case and it just works, no waiting, no fiddling.Sound quality is excellent for the size, clear and punchy, and more than good enough for music, podcasts, and calls. I also really like the magnetic snap when putting the earbuds back in the case, it feels solid and well-designed.They sit comfortably in my ears, even for longer listening sessions, and the included different ear tip sizes are a nice touch and make it easy to get a good fit. The touch controls are simple and responsive, skipping tracks works reliably without having to tap ten times.The only small downside is that it doesn’t support multi-device connectivity, so switching between devices isn’t seamless. That said, it’s a minor nitpick compared to how well everything else works.Overall, great value, reliable, comfortable, and very easy to use. Would definitely recommend.
