I’ve been using this window AC for a little while and so far I’m happy with it. It cools the room pretty quickly and the noise level is reasonable. I also like having the remote and the smart controls, which make it convenient to adjust the temperature. The installation was pretty straightforward. The heat and dehumidifier functions are a nice bonus too. Overall, it’s a good AC for the price and works well for my needs.

I have two of the 8K units and one 12K unit and I will tell you living in an area it can be 90 during the day and high 50s at night in summer this is a great unit to own, I also use these deep into November sometimes even December and from sometimes early march to early may to heat my rental mobile home. THE BIG QUESTION Do they work below 41F ? YES They do work just fine below 41F but they need to be running before it goes below 41F, they seem to work efficiently down to about 35 and I have tested and had them work to 28 F still creating ample heat, just with more defrost cycles and MUCH lower efficiency . I live in an area where it does get to -10 sometimes in winter, so I do not depend on it solely for heat, but for the price, ease of installation, and general efficiency I would say 5 stars! I waited a year and a half after purchasing these to write this review , so I can also say dependability is a feature as well, still work, look, and sound like new! Just make sure you clean once or twice a year and clean indoor filter bi weekly or more for optimum efficiency and performance ! Is a mini split the way to go? YES Is this the closest thing to a mini split you can get without spending thousands on their saddle mount window mini split , or thousands on the installation and drilling holes in your wall ? Live on the TX coast. Bought two of these air conditioners specifically because we wanted the heater/AC combo. Last winter, we discovered this AC unit's heater won't work when it gets below a certain temp outside, which is when you need it the most. This summer, as we were entering into a historic heat wave, the controls on the unit in our bedroom decided to randomly go crazy and start doing things like turning on the dehumidifier, cranking up the temp to above 80F, changing to Celsius, etc without our having touched the controls. Occasionally, resetting the power would allow the unit to reset itself so we could use it as intended, but it just today began to not recognize touch input on the control panel. When it worked, it did really well. It wasn't excessively noisy, it was as easy to install as any other window unit, it drains well, and is comparable in size to other units of that output level. It just stopped working like it was supposed to.

I bought this since I really liked the functionality of a previous Midea unit I bought for my shop, but didn't care for the u-shape style. This one is 8000 BTU, and also has the heating function. It is basically a heat pump in a regular square window unit form factor. I bought it to help cool the bedroom, and heat function was just a nice "bonus" that I didn't plan on using. I installed it early April, and the temps dropped the next day. I will say that the heat function works very well, and while the literature says 41 degrees F (5 degrees C) is the minimum outdoor operating temperature, it seemed to work down into the upper 30s (around 2 to 3 degrees C) on a couple nights. In the app, this model actually shows up as a "split unit" so you know it's a real heat pump. Pros Cold when you want it Warm when you want it (within reason) Much quieter than the generic "on/off" style window unit it replaced (this one is inverter driven) Scheduling and long distance operation via Wi-Fi and the app is pretty easy Included remote works well They include locking screws and insulating tape for installation. The top groove and side blocking pieces are included, but you have to attach them Cons If you have sensitive hearing, you'll hear the high pitched whine from the inverter system My LED lights on the same circuit as the AC flicker in a slightly annoying way In auto heat/cool mode, the "dead zone" AKA "hysteresis" is a bit too small. The system will switch between heat and cool a lot if the temperature is close to target Unit was a bit wider than the old AC, and I had to get creative with the side blocking pieces and insulating tape At certain frequencies, you may get some vibration in the wall/window from the AC. I get it a bit, but it's usually while it's speeding up so it only lasts a few seconds. The manual states this happens due to "weak walls." I live in a double wide, so maybe? I'm really being a bit picky, because overall I'm totally satisfied with this unit! I like that it only runs as hard as it needs to, and the 8000 BTU size is great for a medium bedroom and bathroom combo. I strongly recommend it so far. Overall power draw is typically between 200 and 400 watts while running, it does seem to use a bit more power in heat mode and gets close to 500 watts at times (according to a KILL A WATT meter) Stand by is under 2 watts

I purchased this 8000 BTU inverter A/C for use in a back bedroom that currently doesn't get a lot of heat from the main heat source. As a cooling unit, it's superb and maintains a pretty consistent temperature, although that temperature has little to do with the temperature it is set at. The same is true with the heating feature; the first time I tried it the room had stabilized at around 72 degrees while set at 64, and when I switched to heating mode it immediately started producing heat. This seems to be a constant; no matter what the setting is, when the heat is started it goes through a lengthy cycle before deciding whether or not to honor the setting. The heating function is apparently a true heat pump, meaning that it extracts heat from outside rather than generating it with a resistive heating element. This is good, because it provides about 3-4 times as much heat for a given wattage than a resistive heater would. Typically it draws 250-400 Watts while providing what feels like more than a 1500W electric heater, and I power it from a solar powered inverter. When providing heat, it seems like the actual room temperature depends more on the outside temperature than the thermostat setting, with 62 setting ranging from 64 to about 72, and 66 from about 65 to 75. Oh, and the heat cycle is quite LOUD. But the cost and efficiency of the unit make it worthwhile in my opinion, despite the temperature setting issues.

I purchased the “Midea 8,000 BTU Smart Inverter Air Conditioner Window Unit with Heat and Dehumidifier” in April of this year. It ran beautifully for the late spring/summer season. As an inverter AC, the unit slowly, quietly ramped up or down. It was so silent that there were many nights that we questioned whether it was actually turned on. As expected, use of the Midea AC during the summer months resulted in significantly lower electric bills. I waited to write this review until I got to put the Midea AC heat pump capability through its paces. All I can say is WOW. It was deployed last week when the temperatures were in the low 50s to high 40s. WOW. It doesn’t give off hot, scalding air. I would describe the temperature as air that is blown off the top of a toaster after a fresh batch of toast. The air feels “moderately heated,” but it works! Over the course of 15 minutes, the temperature of the room rose from 64 degrees to 72 degrees. Wow. I am very happy with the unit I will be changing out all of the air conditioner units in my home and replacing them with Midea heat pump units. A few things: The grill on the back of the unit is RAZOR sharp. I cut my hand lifting the AC out of the box. It is much heavier than an AC with a similar BTU. To be safe, I would STRONGLY recommend installing it on a wall-mount window support bracket. As with all modern air conditioners, the included side panel insulation is utterly horrible. Purchase a third-party side panel insulation seal kit so all the money you are saving from using the AC doesn’t fly out of the stock accordion window side panels.

It worked well for one summer, then came the noise. Whatever pump system is in that device, it suddenly decided to start humming very strongly. You can hear it through most of the house. Occasionally you can quiet it down by cutting power and powering up quickly, when it suddenly will run quietly and still kick out cool air. It all started when I tried to use the heat feature in fall. That never worked and instantly got loud. Now it does it half the day on cooling mode. Power consumption is good as measured with a Kill-a-Watt, rarely above 300 watts, only when it kicks in. STill, the noise means I am going to have to cut it back out of the wall it is foam-sealed into now and replace it. Very disappointed.

The logistics of the air conditioner was much faster than I expected.I received it two days ahead of schedule.The package was intact and undamaged. The installation was very convenient and quick.I could handle it all by myself.It came with all the accessories you might need.after using it,the effect met my expectations.The wind was very strong,just turning it on for a few minutes,I could feel the temperature in the room starting to drop.what I like most is that it can keep the room dry even when the air conditioner is on,and the noise is much lower than I imagined,which won’t affect my sleep at night,the design is simple and elegant. It hangs on the window without taking up space.it looks very luxurious.it also has a heating effect,but we will have to try it in winter.So far,I’m very satisfied.
