Energy Savings Trust RecommendationInsulating your hot water cylinder is one of the easiest ways to save energy and therefore money. If you already have a jacket fitted, check the thickness, it should be at least 75mm thick. If not, it's worth treating your cylinder to a new winter coat. Fitting a British Standard jacket around your cylinder will cut heat loss by up to 60% and save you around £40 a year - more than the cost of the jacket! Fitting Instructions1. An insulating jacket pack normally consists of four plastic covered panels, two securing straps and a tie cord.2. Position the panels vertically around the cylinder, with the eyelets to the top. This allows any connecting pipework pass through the gap in the panels.3. Pass the supplied cord through the eyelets and tie off so that the panels fully cover the top of the cylinder.4. Use the two straps to secure the panels in the final position.Tip: These panels insulate more efficiently if they're not compressed so don't overtighten the straps. It makes out its for a 48 inch tank. wrong the panels maybe 48 inch but when you cover the top it does not cover 48 inch. The top rope is just two short shoe laces. the tie straps, according to the instructions there should be three of, turned out to be two lots of two. Unfortunately they are too short to fit around the 18 inch tank so you have to tie two together, still leaving you one short. the panels are not wide enough to over lap much. If I had not been so desperate to get some sort of insulation around the tank before the cold snap I would have returned it. Ended up wrapping loft insulation around where it did not touch.

good insulation
this is a difficult size to find at this price and seems to be reasonable quality. delivery was also very fast

Not up to task

4-Panels and some cheap nasty fixings
Despite ordering the largest size possible the fit was still terrible.It's 4 panels of insulation rather than a jacket, held together with some shoe laces and some rubberized tape. The tape itself breaks if you pull it hard to keep it tight, plus the panels dont fit very well. Disappointing really but very few other options out there.

Performs well over time
This item is okay and I hope to use it straight away it could save it's own cost in time and I hope it performs well over a reasonable length of time.

5 mins to fit and does the job
Arrived on time and having removed from the box took 5 minutes to fit. Immediately the benefits were there for all to see. Temperature in the airing cupboard much lower so the heat is staying in the tank and water is staying hotter for longer.

Avoid really poor quality
Really poorly designed product - no instructions, doesn't even fit around the hot water tank which is smaller than the dimensions stated. Broke when trying to install it as the material is equivalent to a plastic bag. It comes with two shoe laces - which should tell you what kind of product this is. I should have just saved the money and put it towards my electricity bill. Avoid at all costs.

Very fast delivery, all the better that I was able to track the item. Bit fiddly for 1 person to fit, but there were 2 of us so it wasn't a problem.
