Can you mute  it so it don’t record sound when I use it?

The AZDOME M550 has a built-in microphone so that it can also record the sound in its surrounding.To turn it OFF or to set it to MUTE, press once the UP Button while in the video mode, and it will Mute the built-in microphone for you.To unmute it, press the UP Button once again.

does dash cam screen start when you start up your vehicle or does the viewer remain off my cam screen does not come on when I start my vehicle ?

The dash cam screen start when you start up your vehicle.

If no operation is detected after 1 minute, the device will enter screensaver mode. Press any button will reactivate the screen. If you don't need this function, you can close the backlight(Screen Save) setting on the menu.

Our engineers are trying to add this feature "Stealth Mode Start Up", but it will take some time to update this firmware.

Current:  Dashcam starts with LED blinking and screen turning on.  Screen saver mode kicks in depending on setting.  Shortest is 1 min before screen turns off.

Suggestion: Option to start the dashcam in "Stealth Mode Start Up" with just a single short beep to let the "owner" know it started.  LED and screen don't turn on.  But anyone else who'd get into the car not knowing this feature, he wouldn't know he's being recorded.  This is a safety feature if someone else will be driving the car.

Usage:  Had some instances where you saw in the recording that people would try to disconnect my dashcam just because they become conscious when they saw the dashcam booted up and started recording them.  If they didn't see the dashcam turning on, they wouldn't know it's working.  That's where the "Stealth Mode Start Up" would be a real big feature.

2. Car Dealership/Shop service and test drive (especially test drive)

For the time being, the latest firmware does not have this feature.

Is there a way to hook up the cabin camera via cable instead of direct attachment?

Accepted Answer

Both additional cameras attach via HDMI.  The interior camera attaches by a mini-HDMI port on the right side of the main unit.  The rear camera attaches by a micro-HDMI port on the left side of the unit.  You can insert an extension cable for either one, or, I presume, use ANY camera which interfaces via HDMI, for that matter.   But you can only, at most, add two additional cameras, and the Azdome supplied ones are ideal.

However, you could have other cameras...  and switch between the default ones and your extra ones, simply by plugging and unplugging the appropriate cables.  Or by using an HDMI switch. So, you might have "side view camera" options as well as your standard three views, for example.  Or a camera inside an enclosed payload bay (covered truck bed, for example).  Which might be useful for, say, people transporting animals.

Thankfully, Azdome didn't go with proprietary interfaces.  So, if you're ambitious, you have lots of options!

Question 4

How to format sd card above 64gb or 128gb? up to how much memory (gb) does it support? max support 512gb?

Accepted Answer

AZDOME M550 dash cam will support Class 10, U3 Speed 128 GB micro SD card. Max Support: 128GB (The latest version of the M550 package only has a 64GB SD card as a gift).

A few of our customers have used 256GB card, in theory, it supports up to 512GB. However, we don't recommend it, as the larger the memory in the market, it is easier to buy substandard memory cards.

Be sure to format your SD card with your dash cam for the first time use.

The basic requirement of the memory cards for AZDOME 3 channel dashcam is Class 10 or U3 and that the SD card should be formatted as FAT32 [Windows] or MS-DOS (FAT) [Mac OS]. To do so, you need to access the memory card using your computer. Insert the memory card to your computer directly if you have the memory card slot and SD-adapter so you can access the memory card and format it.

But we cannot guarantee the perfect performance of cards from other manufacturers, as even cards with same specifications may vary from batch to batch.

Now we recommend using AZDOME SD cards for optimal performance. This third party SD card may not be able to meet the normal working requirements of our 3-channel dash cam.

The reason is that dashcams put SD cards under higher stress than most electronic products such as action cameras or DSLRs due to their constant loop recording. We test our cards extensively before selecting them for inclusion in our 3-channel dash cam, to make sure that their performance is good and degrades as little as possible over time.

Using third party SD cards can affect dashcam's performance and in some cases, force the dashcam to reboot randomly during recording.

Now we have the new AZDOME 64GB micro SD cards which can solve the problem about the video clips recorded inconsistent length ( e.g. 6, 10, 14, 18, 20, 22 seconds etc ) each video clips only had 5-7 seconds gaps or the problem of screen saver. And now we are also customizing a batch of AZDOME 128GB cards that perfectly fit our 3-channel dash cam, but it will take some time to produce.

If your card is not working properly, please contact us to get a new AZDOME 64GB memory card.
