Jonathan Green Fast Grow Grass Seed - Cool Season Lawn Seed - 7 lb

I LOVE this grass seed. I’ve ordered it three times now as we built from raw land so everything around our home was nothing but dirt when we moved in. New growth started popping up within a week and 1.5 years and 3 bags later we have a fully covered acre of grass. To be honest, I didn’t even do much prep work as all I had at the time was a garden rake which I used to puncture the ground where I spread the seed (using a manual hand spreader) but it still did perfectly well! I wasn't expecting much but this worked great. I had a pool put in last summer turning my yard into a big mud slide. I temporarily put fake grass down on most of it. But this summer I wanted to see if I could get some grass to grow. I have a lawn guy, but I still have a deck to do so I decided to give this a try and he could do his magic if it didn't work when he starts his service later this month after the deck is up. I must admit I didn't follow many of the directions. I just sprinkled some seed a couple of weeks ago when I knew there would be a rainy week. Other than the rain the weather wasn't great, we were going from 80 degrees all the way down to 30 some nights. I figured if it didn't work I can try again. I only did about half my yard to see how it does. Two weeks later and it's growing nicely almost everywhere except for a couple of areas with really compacted clay soil. Did I mention we have horrible soil? I had another bag so I aerated those spots and raked some top soil in before I sprinkled more seed. I also added seed to more of my yard except for the area where they will be working on my deck. I am more than thrilled with the result. Excited that this year I'll have grass in my yard again.

I love this grass. Anyone who says it's not growing is doing one of two things wrong: 1) not watering it multiple times a day, 2) not putting a 1/4"-1/2" layer of soft dirt over the seed to hold it down. I bought one bag at first and tried it out on a few different areas and once I saw it was successful I bought a second bag. I noticed that if I loosen up the dirt before putting the seed down, and then put dirt on top of the seed, sprouts will appear within a week or so. If I don't do those things, and I water for a week straight, they won't pop up, but then I pile dirt on those areas and the next day I can already see a tiny sprout. I have seen it done a different way - put the seed and dirt in a wheelbarrow and mix it all up, then pour it over your yard. I haven't tried that so I don't know if that works as well or better. I just keep doing it the way I explained above and it works great for me. The only problem is I don't really know what I'm doing...like when to seed, how much shade or sun it really can take, and how it will survive in hot climates. I live in Phoenix and I planted it around spring time but by the middle of summer ALL of the grass I planted was dead. I probably did something wrong, or Phoenix was simply too hot for this grass even though I watered so much that my water bill was sky high. I guess I'm stuck with Bermuda :(

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as the reviews for this product. Summer are good in summer bad however personally I have had nothing but good results as the color is bright green and there is lots of grass that has come up after planting. Yes, it did take roughly Close to a month for the grass to grow as thick as it as grown, but I am very pleased with my results. You will see in the two pictures on the left-hand side. I did not plant grass there however, on the right hand side, the grass is full where I planted grass. The grass is a little spotty, so I will be planting more however, I am happy with what I have so far. I am located in Fort Worth, Texas, and this product has worked for me.

Grows at the expected rate of things that grow. Based on water, sunlight and temperature. Don’t expect it to turbo grow. Do agitate the ground you place the seeds on, such as soil, or if you have a bare spot, rake it and loosen the dirt, sprinkle the seed and lightly cover or move the soil around so they will take hold. Water. Birds will eat some of them. Keep an eye on it. The grass that grows from these seeds is extraordinarily green and soft, so it might not look like what you have going. It is effective.

Definitely fast growing

Do not purchase this product. Very thin grasss that grows fast and dies fast. It was green for about two months then completely died and turned brown from the root to the top. It also contains weeds that are hard to get rid of. So disappointed in this product.
