Rob Cosman's Tenon Saw: Medium Size

Description

Every woodworker using hand tools needs at least three types of backsaws: Dovetail, Tenon, and Crosscut. I produce two Tenon Saws to fulfill this need: Large and Medium. The Medium Tenon Saw is ideal for hobbyists, designed for easy learning of tenon cutting. The Large Tenon Saw, for professionals and advanced hobbyists, allows cutting large tenons but requires mastery. Both saws are heavier, offering better balance and reduced vibration. The pistol grip handle, combined with the weight, promotes straight, perpendicular cuts. The relaxed cutting angle of the initial teeth eases starting the cut, while diamond-saw formed teeth slice through wood, providing a ready-to-joint surface. Observing students' struggles with large tenon saws led me to create a beginner-friendly saw. The Medium Tenon Saw is slightly smaller, easier to control, yet capable of meeting 90% of tenon cutting needs.
