Very good first impression
Got this today and used it once, so this really is a first impression - and a highly positive one. The mower feels solid, especially considering the relatively cheap price, and works well - doubly so considering this is my first cut this side of winter, so the grass was extremely long and that my garden's pretty sizeable.A few general comments:- Despite what a few other commenters have said, the speed is fine. Very slow at the slowest setting, but up to a reasonable walking pace at maximum - I never felt like I was urging it to go faster, at least.- This is a decently weighty machine - which isn't to say it's really hard to manoeuvre in the corners, but I'm a fairly burly bloke in my 30s. Any able-bodied adult should manage, but this maybe isn't the machine for your ailing nan.- Similarly, the engine drive has a decent pull on it. Pinioning the mower without disengaging the throttle is an effort.- I did end up stopping once to pull stuck grass out from underneath the thing, but as mentioned, my garden was very overgrown and, to be fair, it never stalled. Didn't struggle with a hill on part of my garden, which is probably 25 degrees.- The manual is useless - black and white pictures which're impossible to decipher. Not that there's much to put together - I just looked at a few online pictures of the thing assembled.Overall, very happy - got the job done quickly and efficiently. Will update if I have anything to add in the future.

looks good
Looks good, got this for my old mums garden, the delivery driver struggled to lift the box to the back door, I struggled to lift it also, its really heavy, maybe a good idear if it was assembled, it runs well and cuts great, that's why I am giving it 4 stars.

I like this mower.
Having moved to a property with a large and pretty lush lawn, my old trusty electric I brought with me made no headway at all, and so bought this on the strength of reviews. I agree with those who say its a good mower, Its had a couple of hours use but enough to work find it does the job well.Firstly, when you get it don't ruin the box, I've heard it needs the box if returned - the mower is pretty heavy and cant be lifted out, so I unstapled the side and rolled it out. The manual is written using english words, but not by someone who is used to communicating. The pictures might as well be a potato print for what help they are. However, its all pretty easy - assemble the handle with the bolts and knurled knobs (which go on the inside) and the chop the tie wrap holding the 3 cables, and seat them neatly under the black plastic clampy things that are on the bar, two on the left one on the right side. The grass box looks broken, but you just need to feed the soft rubber edges over the wire bars to put it together.Next screw out the oil dipstick and add 600ml of oil (it does actually say in the manual despite people saying it doesn't, just that its right at the back where you dont read). Add some unleaded petrol, dibble the blippy thing a few times to prime the carb, set throttle to half and you are ready to go. Now to start it I didn't thread the recoil into the handlebars as per the manual, I stand to the right of the mower, left foot on the black thing ( side ejection chute), left hand holding the 'dead mans handle' up, (which incidentally I thought mine was bent but its just not symmetrical) and with my right hand give the starter a long tug, no need to be fast and off it went chug chug chug vroom first try. Keep the dead mans handle up, get behind the mower and push the drive handle and off it goes, a slow steady pace but it climbs inclines pretty well. No point in using full throttle, that just causes it to make more noise and little else. When finished, I give a few minutes to cool, then I put the nose up against the house wall and then tilt it upright using the handle so I can scoop out the wet grass from the underside so it doesn't dry and turn into concrete. Nothing seems to spill out by doing this.I've only used it in mulchy mode, not tried the grass box or ejector chute, works well, very fine mulch and not hay like my previous mower. Mines the 4 blade version which wasn't the one I ordered, but it just looks a gimmick and I'd have preferred the traditional blade.

Frisky Fox, I had never heard of them but what a Great mower
I don't write many lawn mower reviews as my previous mower lasted 16 years. I did lots of online "research" to find the most reasonable self propelled mower with the best reviews and it came up with Frisky Fox, which I had never heard of. When it arrived, on time and well packaged, I was immediately impressed by the feel of quality and couldn't wait to get it out and use it. Putting it together was a bit of a challenge because the pictures in the instructions were in monochrome and poor quality so it was practically impossible to see what they were trying to illustrate. Having said all of that, it was not difficult and just really involved connecting the handles. Next challenge was putting the oil in. I could not find anywhere that told you how much oil to put in. (S.A.E. 10 - 40). Putting a small amount in, letting it settle and then dipping eventually told me that it was just under a litre.Filled with petrol, read the operating instructions. Primed the carb., 2 easy pulls and it started and ran beautifully. Under power, the speed was just right for me and can be adjusted with the throttle control. Cuts very well and all the grass ended up in the grass collector (unlike my previous mower). So far I am very pleased and am hoping it will last as long as my last mower.Review update after 7 years. This is by far the best mower I have ever owned. Easy start and puts up with all the abuse I subject it to.

Horrible experience
Just bought this mower last week but it’s a total disappointment as it is has so many problems. 1- The grass is not collected properly in the box which makes the lawn look untidy. 2- It stops every few minutes for no reason. 3- blades has a mark as if it was already used. 4- the handle is very difficult fold for storage . 5- no strips as it says on the description. 6- the description says it’s 35kgs but it’s much more heavier as the box says 42 kgs. I have already asked for refund but now they want me to send it back to them but the gross weight of the box is 45kg so no idea how to send it back but in short horrible experience. Hope no one else have to go through such stress.
