This is exactly what a 9-year old would like for a birthday gift! She loves the "glitter look" of the pens as well as the novelty of a lock (where she can't lose the "key"), and the other items included in this diary kit. Product is of very good quality. This gift was much appreciated by the recipient.

Great for 8 year old, lock easy to use.
Got this for my daughter who is 8 and in 3rd grade for Christmas and she loves it. She takes it to school with her everyday. It came with stickers and a cute holder for her pens. I like that it locks, which is what she asked for, and the lock was very easy for her to use. This made a great gift.

Great for young ladies with little brothers.
My daughter loved her diary, she was able to change the code, enter it and lock it up with ease. Her little brother was unable to get it open proving lock and strap work well. I was surprised at its thickness.
