This is exactly what I was looking for. This book is very informative, and a perfect beginners guide to finding your path in witchcraft! You can pick out what you like and what you don't personally vibe with, and it guides you through your very own path. The beginner's spells are super useful, I know a ton of new witches who ask for beginner spells all the time. I cannot stress enough how useful all of this book is, there is a lot in here and I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed! I just love it a lot!

I read this book out of curiosity as I am definitely outside of its target audience and I found it absolutely fascinating. It starts by explaining what witchcraft is and isn’t, how it differs from and overlaps with the modern idea of Wicca, and summarizes its history. It’s all clear, concise, and very well written. From there it does a great job of outlining the various forms of witchcraft and how you can choose the right type for yourself. This is not a dark book and its ideas are overwhelmingly positive. It even gives some basic spells for things like confidence and moving on from past trauma. The last section however does delve into black magic. This is not as a means to cause harm, but to understand it, protect yourself against it, and even identify sources of negativity that are natural and not witchcraft at all. Overall a great book even for someone who has never had a previous interest in the subject.

Compiled as three separate books, Laurel Kelly's Empowering the Modern Witch is the perfect go-to for anyone curious about foundational witchcraft. Finding your power and stepping into it fully is very much more internal than external, and Kelly captures this perfectly. I also appreciated her emphasis on creating boundaries within your practice — both physical and energetic. Definitely recommend!

I really liked Laurel Kelly’s approach to Traditional Witchcraft. It really focused on developing skills that will lead you towards your true purpose and help you find meaning in your life. The spells were fun and built up from simple charms to more complex rituals throughout each of the 3 books, and there were lots of opportunities to add your own personal touches. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a complete beginner guide to exploring witchcraft, and wanting to see how it can improve their life.
