Toolwiz Magnetic Pick Up Sweeper 17-inch Wide, 8.8 Lbs Magnet Pull Force

I have never really needed one of these before, but since buying my home last year and having contractors come out to make repairs to things like the roof, gutters replaced, room renovations where they throw the old pieces of wood out the window, I started finding nails, and screws all around the perimeter of my home. I sometimes will part out front instead of back at the garage, and I was worried that maybe there could be a lot more nails and screws around. So I decided to buy this. I knew I was going to likely find a few nails and screws, but I was blown away by how many I actually pulled out of the yard with this magnetic sweeper. It did such a great job! With just a few minutes of going around the perimeter of the house, this sweeper collected over 40 nails and screws. Surely one of them would have punctured my tire. This sweeper was very easy to assemble, and it doesn't take up much space at all for when you aren't using it. Highly recommended!

This thing works amazing and has already paid for itself many times over. The number of old nails and metal pieces it has already found around our property has probably saved us hundreds of dollars in tire repairs alone. It is simple, lightweight, easy to push around, and works far better than expected for its size. Our kids even enjoy using it, which makes cleanup easier too. The magnet is strong, the wheels roll smoothly, and it does an excellent job picking up nails from dirt, gravel, and grass. Excellent value for the price.

I had major renovation of my house's roof (replaced wooden structure, including most rafters, then new plywood sheathing and shingles), and you can bet that nails and some screws and staples were flying everywhere during demolition and reconstruction. The contractor send a flunky around a few times each day with a more industrial magnetic pickup sweeper, but I kept spotting errant nails and such laying here and there and wanted to avoid a trip to the emergency room for a wound clean-out procedure and tetanus shot. So I went looking for a 'occasional use' magnetic sweeper for my very own, and selected this Toolwiz model TMS31117. Some facts and observations: - The useful width of this product is NOT 17", as the magnetic part is roughly 14" wide; the extra 3" is from the two wheels, which are not magnetic or otherwise useful for pickup. So, not very wide, but OK for occasional use. - The overall height from the ground to tip of RETRACTED handle is about 18". - The overall height from the ground to tip of FULLY EXTENDED handle is about 39". - Some other reviewers complained that the wheels would not turn freely unless they loosened the wheel bolts somewhat. I did not find this to be the case on my example; the wheels are held on by shoulder bolts which are perhaps 1/8" longer than the wheels (and their washers) are wide, and they cannot be threaded in too far, so the wheels cannot help but turn freely. - Some other reviewers have complained that the telescoping handle will not stay extended during use. In my own experience, this is true, but only if the user has not put their 'thinking cap' on. Yes, the handle is much like a thick telescoping radio antenna, and stays at the current length by friction only, so if rolled (by pushing the handle) over rough terrain, the handle can start un-telescoping. The solution to this, for example if the product is being rolled over a grassy lawn, is to PULL the product behind you instead of PUSHING it as one would a lawnmower. On my lawn, I just walked a pattern back and forth, trailing the product along slightly behind me, much as with a dog in "heel". - Metallic objects jump up (they must have some iron in them in order to be attracted by the magnetic base of the product...it will NOT pick up aluminum, brass, copper, etc) and stick to the magnetic base, and each makes a clicking noise when doing so; I would stop and collect the objects after I had heard a dozen or so clicks, just to prevent the grass from dislodging objects that might then fall back onto the ground. I carried a small plastic bag into which I would deposit objects that I harvested from the magnetic base from time to time. - This product is NOT heavy, and is easy to push or pull, and floats lightly over grass even if the wheels might not always touch the ground. - Tools needed for assembly; a pair of pliers to tighten the base of the handle where it threads into the magnetic base, and an adjustable wrench to tighten the wheel bolts

This product came in incredibly handy! I recently had an outdoor patio installed in my backyard. Although the installation company tried to remove all the nails afterward, they unfortunately missed quite a few. I purchased this magnetic sweeper hoping it would pick up the leftover nails, and it exceeded my expectations. As soon as I rolled it across the grass, I could hear it grabbing nails and other metal debris. The magnet is very strong, and in no time I had cleaned up all the nails and metal left behind from the project. This tool gave me peace of mind knowing my yard was safe again. I would definitely recommend it to anyone cleaning up after construction or landscaping work!

This thing is awesome. It’s smaller than I thought it would be, but it works really well. We’re constantly doing projects around the farm, cutting wire, building things, etc., and always end up with little scrap pieces on the ground that are hard to find. I can run this over our work area a few times and it picks up a ton of stuff. Really glad I got it. If you do a lot of similar projects where little pieces of wire, screws, or metal end up on the ground, I definitely recommend getting one.

The Toolwiz Magnetic Pick Up Sweeper was just what we needed. It is light weight and does a great job picking up nails and small pieces of metal. We used it after taking down part of an old barn and a barbed wire fence. I also used it to pick up all of the nails the roofers missed after they put on a new roof on my house.

I would have absolutely given this 5 stars except that the product came used. I originally filed for a refund but decided to try it anyway since we have a 100 year old house and when we replaced the fence, 75 year old nails and other metals started popping up through the ground. I couldn’t risk more nails in my tires and I found that the product itself worked well. I’m just extremely disappointed that it came used. The first photo on the porch shows half of the nails that I was able to pick up in about 2 hours. Product = 5 stars, company negative one star.

Great size. Easy to use. Finds and picks up small metal objects, especially following roof replacement on my house. I’m glad I purchased this product!
