Mount Mansfield Maple Products Drops Hard Candy Made with Real Syrup (15oz Cellophane Bag)

Cute shape - bought them hoping for a rich maple flavor. Tastes good but more sugary than maple.

The first batch I got was very yummy. Had a good maple flavor. For the price you get a good amount. The driver put them behind a vase next to my door out of the sun. I was NOT happy with the second batch I got. When I got them they had been left by Amazon driver on my front doorstep in full sun.....not even near door. They were on the steps. It clearly says on bag not to leave in sun or near warm stuff because of melt risk. When I opened them they were in a different package that had a expiration date on it in BIG numbers. At the time I received them the expiration was only ONE WEEK away!!!! I called Amazon and they did refund it and told me to keep them. The Mansfield company that sold them did send me a message telling me that they had been warning Amazon that the product was about to expire and that they had been telling them not to sell them and to have a new batch brought in. The second batch you could tell was not as good as the first batch. It had a "old" "stale" flavor to it. I am going to order more.....just will call them to make sure they DID get in a updated, newer expiration date ones.

I absolutely love maple sugar candy, but the cost makes it a rare treat. When I do buy it, I eat it incredibly quickly, I love it so much. And then I wish I had more self-control to make it last longer. So I ordered these, thinking that it would be nice to have some real maple flavor, and perhaps I wouldn't scarf them down so quickly. That's exactly what they do for me. I enjoy them, but I don't crave them like I do pure maple sugar candy. While they taste of real maple, the taste is diluted, compared to pure maple sugar candy. Plus, hard candy lasts longer in your mouth. As a result, I find myself eating one or two of these every day or two, and I bet if I put them out of sight, I'd forget about them for a while. Bottom line: I get some maple satisfaction, while staying in budget. I'll still buy pure maple sugar as a treat once in a while, but these are a good alternative in between.

I find these small maple leaf candies to be almost addictive they are so delicious to suck on. They dissolve slowly in my mouth, so they last awhile. I highly recommend you buy two bagsful because the first one will go quicker if you have never had them before. To me, they taste like the topping on Crème Brulee. I also bought some Maple Sugar Crystals from this same company, and plan to use it over the top of Bavarian Custard to make an elegant dessert. Both products are fantastic! I had read that sucking on these candies would help a sore throat and coughing for relief. It does seem to make my throat feel better and coughing much less. At only 22-1/2 calories per maple leaf individually wrapped candy, I don't feel bad about eating them as often as I need them. Thank you for a wonderful product.
