Versatile and Reliable First Aid Accessory
The NcSTAR NC Star CVTQ2990T Tourniquet & Tactical Shear Pouch in Tan is a well-designed, versatile accessory for anyone needing quick access to their first aid tools. Here's my detailed review after using this product:Design and Build QualityThe pouch is robustly built with durable materials, ensuring it can withstand rough usage. The tan color is practical for blending into various tactical gear setups. Its compact dimensions (7"h x 2"W x 1.75"D) make it easy to carry without adding bulk.VersatilityThis pouch is highly versatile, fitting most popular tourniquets on the market. The elastic sides are a great feature, allowing the pouch to conform to different thicknesses of tourniquets securely. Additionally, the slot compartment at the back is a thoughtful addition for holding trauma shears, secured by hook and loop straps.Ease of AccessThe hook and loop fastener flap, embroidered with "TQ" in red threads, is easy to spot. The bright red pull tab is especially helpful for quickly identifying and accessing the tourniquet in emergencies. This design ensures that you can access your tools swiftly when every second counts.Mounting OptionsOne of the standout features is the multiple MOLLE straps on the back, which allow for both vertical and horizontal mounting on MOLLE-compatible gear. This flexibility extends to mounting on duty belts in a horizontal position, making it adaptable to various configurations.Additional UsesWhile designed primarily for tourniquets and trauma shears, the pouch can also be used for other purposes. It works well as a magazine pouch, tactical flashlight holder, multi-tool carrier, or a general-purpose pouch, adding to its utility.Pros:Durable and sturdy constructionElastic sides for different tourniquet sizesEasy and quick access with bright red pull tabVersatile mounting optionsMultiple uses beyond holding tourniquets and shearsCons:Tourniquet and trauma shear not included (which is clear in the product description but still worth noting)ConclusionOverall, the NcSTAR NC Star CVTQ2990T Tourniquet & Tactical Shear Pouch in Tan is an excellent addition to any first aid or tactical kit. Its durability, versatility, and ease of access make it a reliable choice for both professionals and enthusiasts. Whether you’re in the field or on duty, this pouch ensures your essential tools are always within reach.

Updated: replacement was higher quality, would recommend
UPDATE: Manufacturer replaced my defective first one with a second TQ holder (for free, let me keep the defective one, nice to not have to fuss with it). The replacement was much higher quality of construction. Per usual for molle/PALS products, after a few remounts for placement and a a few days of wearing, there are a few straggler threads that were easy to melt down with a lighter to clean up, but this thing is actually holding up. If you need an active duty TQ then maybe look for higher quality, for more folks like me that only need these these days for a few days a month, then this is a recommended option. The replacement I received had a properly-sized leash for them penny-cutters (scissors). Velcro+elastic, as is standard, so I expect the leash will stretch out over time, but they are correctly sized, so hurray!Would give 4-stars because of the hassle-factor, but their customer service and price totally deserves the 5th star.PREVIOUS REVIEW: (JAN 2020)Price was awesome, stows a CAT Gen 3 tourniquet securely. The shears pocket works, but the leash isn't quite the right size for securing the handles of pennycutters. Still, good placement that doesn't interfere with accessing the tourniquet.Underneath the horizontal double-snap straps, there are traditional PALS webbing for taking in slack of the vertical strap, which is great if you're mounting to a molle system (which, you probably are.)However, as shown in the picture, the vertical strap—the single most critical component for mounting to other webbing—is only sewn on by a single line of stitching. Not uncommon for cheaper TQ pouches, but on mine, this line of threading is unraveling right out of the box, and doesn't appear to have been a full line of stitching to start with. Zero chance the molle strap will hold up to any pressure or movement, much less abuse. Rated the product "two stars" because the rest of the pouch is of reasonable quality, just this one stitching issue.I selected "return for replacement" and was told to keep the old one, will update my rating depending on what the replacement looks like. Might be worth running a line of superglue over the stitching seam if the next one has at least a complete thread line.(For the record, I do NOT store my tourniquets in the plastic. New one arrived at same time as the pouch, kept in plastic while trying out different pouch/holster arrangements. Will stage it correctly before it leaves the house.)

Flap is a little short depending on how you fold your CAT
I find the flap to be an inch too short. It works, but it is less secure than if it were longer. Otherwise it seems well made.

Strapped to my work bag
I'm a grade school teacher, and while I don't expect to ever need to use it, I have this strapped to my work bag with my NAR SAM in it, along with a pair of shears and a sharpie. It's gone on several field trips, and flew with me when my wife and I went home for the holidays (BTW, you *can* fly with shears in/on your carry-on, they just have to have a blade under 4"). It's pretty solid, and I've never had to worry about it falling off.

The Snaps are of Low Quality
Upon the very first pull of the strap that snaps to the back side of the pouch, the snap itself broke. It appears to have not been installed properly. Upon inspection of the snap, I noticed how thin, weak and of low quality was the metal used in its production. I think it's also because the material the snap had to penetrate is a bit thick (a good thing). There are two other, horizontal straps with dual snaps that seem to be okay for now. Not sure I can trust this pouch to remain in place. I bought two and hope I can count on at least one of them lasting. The material itself seems to be of good quality.

Works
For a couch potato weekend warrior. These should work great. Seem well built for the price. If you have to cut cost between this and a tourniquet this is were you can do it. If you are an EMT, Police,Military or just very active then I can not tell you how it will hold up for your active use. But for the great deal of people that will only put moderate wear and tear on it then it seems to be a great bargain.
