ALMOST perfect product. 3.5mm audio out isn't working.
Bought this in 2024 and it was a great idea... it works beautifully, it provides so much utility to my Macmini setup. I'm not sure if I tested every port, but I discovered only yesterday that the audio output receptacle (for 3.5 mm plugs) did not function....I wish it did, for its so much more convenient to use than the one on the back if the Mac mini console. Help me Satechi, if possible. I have discovered a solution.... naturally it was user error.. All fixed now!!!

Nice Mac Mini hub with SSD side benefit!
Fit and finish is excellent! Does exactly what it says it will do. I have a whole bunch of “stuff” attached via USB and really wanted additional ports and having them up front was a bonus! The SSD mounts easily and was immediately recognized as expected. I did reformat to the APFS format once I confirmed the hub was working correctly.

Quick access to various ports and a bit more space on you desk.
This mini Hub & Stand works perfectly for me. I used to have cables all over my PC/desk so I would have access to ports when I needed to plug drives, memory cards, and other peripherals. But with this Hub & Stand, I have three USB, one USB-C, two card readers, a phone jack right in front of me, so no need to keep my desk cluttered with most of the time empty ports. In addition, the 3/4" stand raises my MacMini enough so that the Mac Mini power cable and all the ports in the back are above the base of the screen stand, so I can push the Mac Mini further back and get a bit more free space on my desk. Before getting this Hub & Stand, I had made a nice looking wood raiser. This is much practical.

More ports, but definitely affects WIFI
Pros: - Great hub that adds much needed ports - Matches the looks of the Mac Mini (not a perfect match, but the differences aren't too noticeable unless you're really up close) - No extra cable and power brick needed for external power. Everything works off a single cable plugged into the Mac Mini - NVME slot is perfect for Time Machine backups. Bonus, I finally found a use for the NVME drive from my Steam Deck (with adapter). Cons: - Setting the Mac Mini on top of this hub essentially cuts off the wifi. I believe the wifi module is physically located on the back, bottom part of the Mac Mini and is likely being blocked by this hub. It's obviously the hub since lifting the Mac Mini instantly restores my wifi connection. - "Fix": I bought a wooden frame to act as a spacer between the Mac Mini and the hub (see picture). That little bit of separation restored my wifi connection. There may still be some signal attenuation, but it's not noticeable to me. Also, the wooden frame is supposed to help with ventilation and adds to the overall aesthetic. Since I was going to buy it anyway, I consider that a "fix" for the wifi issue. Hope this helps someone else with wifi problems.

Get one! It is awesome. But note Apple’s WiFi can be blocked.
I have been using mine for a year now with my Mac Studio. And I love it. Let me count the ways I love it: 1) internal hard disc is a must. And I love that I get to choose how large the disc is. 2) ports. And more ports. And more ports. 3) ports on both the front and the back is awesome. I can plug my keyboard into the back and leave the front open for usb devices and yubi keys, etc. 4) did I mention all the ports! 5) the design is awesome as it allows it to cool well. My only complaint is the attachment dongle is a little short. I wish it was a bit longer because sometimes I need to rotate my box because Apple put the WiFi antenna in a funny place and it sometimes blocks the signal. It is awesome!

SATECHI CONFIRMED FAULTY BATCH
March 2024 Satechi Technical Support emailed me: Following an extensive testing phase, we have identified batch-related issues in the PCBA assembly process at the manufacturing facility. At present, we are actively investigating the extent to which units from the affected batch may have been impacted. Regrettably, we are unable to offer replacements as a resolution at this time due to the ongoing investigation. As a interim measure, we are providing an option for returns with a refund as the sole troubleshooting avenue for addressing this issue. If the product was purchased on www.satechi.net, we can assist you with the return process. For products purchased on our Amazon Storefront, we recommend reaching out to their customer support for product returns. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work diligently to address and resolve the matter. Feb 2024 Update. Took me a little time to notice this but the hub greatly reduces the wifi reception to the Mac. After some experimentation simply placing the Mac on top does not seem to change much but once you plug in the hub the wifi is reduced by between 50 and 90% - it seems to vary for some reason. If you have a super fast wifi you may not immediately notice any difference but run a speed checker and the results are clear. I only noticed once the wifi slowed to a crawl i.e. the speed becomes variable for no obvious reason. Shame as the rest of it is great. Take the YouTube "reviews" with a pinch of salt! Bought to pair with my M2 Pro Mac Mini. Very easy to setup. The USB C lines up perfectly with the USB C on my Mac. Plugged it in and it worked. The NVME took less than a minute although I used my own screwdriver - great they include the right screw but I found the screwdriver fiddly in the space as it is not magnetic. I bought the WD Black SN850X 1TB to use and it is listed on Satechi's website as compatible. My error, I bought the one with built in heat sinc and it is slightly too big to fit the back plate back on! Anyhow I am running it without the cover and will see what happens. Speed wise it is good. The NVME is running at write speeds ~770MB/s and read speeds 725MB/s. The faster USB slots (Samsung USB 3.1) run at around 65 MB/s write and 200 MB/s read. The slower write around 25MB/s and read around 35MB/s. No obvious affect on the wifi. Looks good and matches the mac mini perfectly.

Seamless match and functions as it should
arrived on time as estimated, same day service. New unopened box and I just plugged it in and it worked perfectly. I checked that each port works , and they do. I like how it matches seamlessly under my 2023 Mac Mini Pro 2. Time will tell if connection is lost as some report but so far im very pleased with my purchase.

Outstanding device and value.
Outstanding device and value. I bought one for my mac studio and love it. The mac studio only has 2 USB A ports and their both in the rear. This gave me additional ports that are front facing. A mini sd card slot so I don't have to worry about losing that adapter and expanded storage with the m.2 slot. All for a really good price.

Very nice to have.
This is a perfect addition to my Mac Mini M1. Two USB-A ports on the stock M1 is not enough for me. So having three more as well as USB-C, a place for an NVMe disk, and a card reader is very nice to have. I don't use the 3.5mm audio Jack. Keep in mind though: the hub itself cannot saturate the maximum bandwidth of the Thunderbolt port it occupies because of the 10Gbps (total) speed limit. Meaning: that 10Gbps will be SHARED across ALL things connected to the hub at any given time. For regular and typical use, that is plenty because file transfer speeds are often bottlenecked by how many there are and how small each file is. Lots of tiny files will be slow no matter how fast the potential write speed is of the target. Overall, this is a much needed upgrade to my M1 and it looks good in combination with it.
