Decent little tester, battery operation is a plus.
I got roughly the same results as user IamME but I want to point out a couple of things.#1. The amplitude knob functions in reverse, fully clockwise is minimum output and fully counter-clockwise is maximum.#2. I got this unit to test amplifiers with BTL outputs that prevent me from measuring with scopes and function generators that have a chassis ground. It works fine for non critical functionality testing.#3. The instructions say to use a 5.5 mm by 2.1 mm center positive plug, all I had on hand was a 5.5 mm by 2.5 mm and that worked fine.#4. Assuming you use a battery to power the generator the output is floating but it's not symmetrical to the ground of the device, it's uniopolar. Almost every amplifier you test will have an input capacitor but if it doesn't you might find a weird offset you're not expecting. A 10 uF cap in series with the output and a 100 K resistor back to the output ground will solve that issue.

Fun little kit
Easy build. This little kit works really well for what it is. Great for beginners on a budget.

Decent bang for the buck.
I was expecting what was pictured but got something a little different. This seems to be the Amazon new normal. You can still read the text on the clear plastic box but the light brown project box in the picture would have been better for setting the values. The board. I will say this.. I have put a few project boards together and this board is on the high end. All in all no regrets. It's $9 as I wasn't expecting perfection and I'm sure I can tweak this thing I will probably replace the resistors and retest if I get aggravated with it. Otherwise it's a good buy you can't really go wrong. All the resistors in my package were loose and the rings did not match up with my chart. Just be prepared as you will need to measure them.I took some pictures of the board settings and the readings I got from my scope.

DIY basic function generator
I love soldering kits that are “useful” when completed, and this one gets you a basic function generator. It’s a fairly easy build, and I really like that the microchip is socketed, and that it has a little case, which just makes it more functional and less likely to damage the chip while soldering. The power supply needs to be 9-12VDC. You get a triangle, square, and sine wave output at a few selectable frequency ranges from 1Hz to 1MHz.I’ll tell you right off, the waveforms coming out of this device are not perfect, but they are close enough. The sine wave is the least ideal, having distortions that are better or worse depending on the frequency range selected (sometimes looking closer to a triangle). The square waves have a bit of ringing sometimes, and the triangle wave can clip. It’s not meant to be a bench quality function generator. It’s just a fun kit, that has some useful functionality. The waveforms are fine for a lot of non-critical applications, and I’ve had a lot of fun so far with this. 5 stars.
