I design, carve, and cast the medals myself. The medals are made of lead-free pewter and have designs on both sides. The pendant comes with a jump ring (see photo 1), so it can easily be attached to any chain you have. This listing is for the pendant alone, but it does come with a split ring so it can also be used on a key chain (see photo of packaging). Each medal comes in a felt jewelry pouch with a history card that states: "Highly educated, St. Andrew Avellino (1521-1608) was recognized not just as a brilliant scholar but also as a humble and devout priest. He devoted years of his life to reforming the clergy; to preaching; to tirelessly working for the interests of the poor and ill. In short, he was energetic and had a big soul. In 1608, while beginning Mass, he had a stroke, but that did not end his influence: thousands of people who have had and who have recovered from strokes regularly pray to this kind man, and because he selflessly gave so much to the sick, he is also the patron of the caregivers of stroke victims. I purchased this as a gift for a man who had a stroke. The quality was excellent and I especially liked the idea that it has a rougher, more masculine look. It has a nice heavy feel to it, so it should be very durable for everyday wear. The gift recipient also liked it a lot.
