I suffer from major heartburn issues. Sometimes it gets so bad I can’t even eat for weeks because it flares up so bad. I can’t have my coffee. Even decaf would bother me. I got this and glad I did. It isn’t coffee but when you miss it really bad this is a nice substitute. I love light roast coffee but it is the most acidic. So I found VitaCup Dark Roast Decaf Low Acid Coffee. Dark coffee is the least acidic. So since I don’t like dark coffee I make 12oz of chicory and add a spoonful or so of the dark low acid coffee. It being dark it flavors it nicely. I add my cream and sugar and it hits the spot. The good news is it isn’t causing any issues with my GERD. I will drink the chicory without the dark low acid coffee sometimes with cream and sugar and it isn’t that bad. If you suffer from GERD like I do and miss your coffee then give this a try.

I have to write a review so others will know. This is NOT a good coffee substitute. It's bitter on a level that's difficult to describe. It's just not good. If sadness and disappointment had a taste, I have to imagine that this is what it would taste like.

If you can't have caffeine, this is a great substitute. With a little cream it tastes like sour coffee. Not a bad sour, but definitely not coffee. Plus it helps digestion and helps you poop.

In preparation for a medical procedure one of the prerequisites was to avoid any blood thinners for 2 weeks. I find it hard to make it throughout a day without coffee so I quick needed an alternative that could get me by. I have had a good experience with the Community brand coffee half coffee and half chicory, so I thought that chicory would be the best alternative. I found it very difficult to even find any 100% chicory K cup option. I stumbled on the nuKAF brand and looked at the reviews. I knew from the reviews to expect a pronounced bitterness of which some people loved, but others hated. I like to add a non dairy creamer to my coffee so I like to have a little bit of boldness to the coffee flavor. Noting that I might expect a little bite to the nuKAF brand I ordered a 6 pack of the K cups and hoped for the best. When I first tried the nuKAF brand I was not pleased with the flavor. I could not over power the bitter chicory edge no matter how much of the creamer I was using at the time (milkadamia) that I doused it with. I also found that same problem when trying to neutralize the bitterness with the nutpod brand creamer. Flat out I could not rid the unwanted bitterness with an unsweetened creamer option. There has been a sweetened non dairy brand that I have been using occasionally, Planet Oat brand. First I tried this with the Vanilla flavor, but found this chicory/creamer combination to taste too mediciny. Finally I tried this with Planet Oats Caramel flavor and to my delight found that I really do like this combination of the bitter chicory with the complimentary flavor of caramel. I am beyond the phase where I needed to avoid blood thinners, and yet I am finding it easier to enjoy more cups per day without any caffeine afternoon side effects. I don't know if it even would be possible to have a medium roast with the nuKAF brand, perhaps that is why the buying options for chicory are so limited. If this was possible it might be possible for myself to enjoy this type of K cup without adding a creamer with sugar in it.

some reviews say it taste like burnt marshmallow. It does! And I love burnt marshmallows! The taste may be bitter, but so is coffee. Adding plenty of cream brings out the marshmallow flavor. My ulcer absolutely loves this coffee alternative! And so do my taste buds.

I don't drink chicory, so maybe the flavor is expected but I couldn't drink it because of how much it tasted like dirt.

I have used chicory root and dandelion root as a coffee alternative before. For the chicory, I have used the "instant" and the kind you boil (not recommended). I hesitantly decided to try this k-cup chicory and am so glad I did. I will never go back to regular decaf or anything else. I just bought 3 more boxes of it. When I read all the reviews that noted how strong it was, I thought "bring it on!" I love a strong cup of coffee and this did not disappoint. For anyone who doesn't like it strong, you can just add water - and you're getting more product out of it, so added benefit for you. Chicory also contains inulin (fiber) and it helps keep you regular (another benefit). If you love a strong cup of coffee but don't want the caffeine or a crappy cup of decaf, you will most likely love this. For me, I drank decaf bc I don't like the caffeine jitters but I love the taste and smell of good cup of coffee. This is so much better than decaf. I am hooked forever on this product.

I was concerned about the reviews talking about the bitter taste. I see what they’re talking about but I don’t find it that bitter. May just be my tastebuds 🤷‍♀️ I like this better than herbal tea or decaf and good for avoiding bladder irritants and maintaining a morning coffee feeling which is what I was after.

Too strong tasting. Wast of money.

Very good product, really nice flavour, just a bit strong. Would be perfect if just slightly less strong, but still, highly recommend if you are trying to avoid coffee and caffiene in a natural way.
